For a record that contains your Application Reference Number (ARN) or appointment number, use Passport Seva’s Print Application Receipt option. For a different page, you can use your browser’s print-to-PDF or screenshot function, but those general capture methods may not preserve dynamic or session-only content. You do not need to carry a printed receipt as appointment proof: Passport Seva says an appointment SMS is accepted at the Passport Office.
Choose the right record for what you need

Get the official application receipt
- Open the official Passport Seva portal and sign in through the portal.
- Open the relevant saved or submitted application and look for Print Application Receipt.
- Use that portal action when you need a record containing the ARN or appointment number. Save or print the receipt for your own records.
Passport Seva’s instructions say the appointment SMS is accepted as proof at the Passport Office, so printing the receipt is not required for that purpose. The portal’s fee-payment FAQ repeats the receipt and SMS guidance.

Save another Passport Seva page as a PDF or screenshot
The official pages cited here establish the receipt and status workflows, but do not document browser-specific steps for saving arbitrary portal pages. The following are general browser options; labels and shortcuts vary by device and browser.
Print or save as PDF
- Open the page you want to retain and wait for its visible content to finish loading.
- Open your browser’s print command. In many desktop browsers, use Ctrl+P on Windows or Linux, or Command+P on macOS.
- In the printer or destination selector, choose the option to save as a PDF, then review the preview for missing or cut-off content.
- Save the file with a descriptive name and capture date, such as passport-status-2026-10-03.pdf.
These are general computing steps, not portal-specific instructions. A page that loads content dynamically, hides information behind controls, or depends on an active session may not appear fully in the PDF.

Take a screenshot
Use your device’s built-in screenshot function to capture the visible page. A screenshot is useful for a quick visual record, but it may include only the portion currently on screen and can be harder to search than a PDF. Check the saved image before relying on it.
Check application status using the official fields
Passport Seva’s Track Application Status page asks for the application type, file number, and date of birth. The official status guide says the file number is on the acknowledgement letter issued after submission at a Passport Seva Kendra (PSK). Do not copy example identifiers from illustrations in a guide as if they were your own; use the details on your own documents.

Keep the saved record private and useful
- Use a filename that identifies the page or purpose and includes the capture date.
- Store the file somewhere the applicant can retrieve it, with access limited to people who need it.
- Review the capture for names, dates of birth, file numbers, ARN, addresses, or other personal details before sharing. Treat screenshots and PDFs containing these details as sensitive.
- For official appointment proof, rely on the accepted appointment SMS or the portal’s receipt rather than assuming a browser capture will serve the same purpose.

If you cannot find the receipt, status information, or the right portal guidance, consult Passport Seva’s listed assistance channels: the information and grievance page provides access to information and contact options, including the National Call Centre, passport office contacts, and helpdesk.
