UPI does not have one universal merchant dashboard or menu path: your bank or provider determines what you can access.
Choose the right merchant dashboard screen
UPI merchant acceptance is enabled through an acquiring bank, which provides the UPI infrastructure and determines the merchant’s setup. Use the app or web dashboard supplied for your business; menu names and available reports vary by provider.

Choose a screen that supports the record’s purpose. It might show transaction history, a payment status, sales, or business performance. For example, India Post Payments Bank describes its Merchant App as providing an overview of sales and business performance; that is an example of one provider’s app, not a standard UPI screen.
Capture a useful, readable record
- Sign in through the provider’s official app or website. Do not share your password, OTP, or UPI PIN, and do not include them in a screenshot.
- Open the relevant report or transaction view. Confirm that the screen answers the business question you need to document.
- Set the reporting period and filters first. Keep enough context visible to identify the business, date range, and figures or transactions. The appropriate details depend on the record’s purpose; there is no universal screenshot format.
- Take the screenshot on your device. On Android, open the screen and press Power and Volume Down together. On some phones, holding Power and choosing Screenshot works instead. Controls can vary by manufacturer.
- For a long report, consider scrolling capture. Android 12 and later support scrolling screenshots on most screens that allow scrolling. Check that the captured image includes the needed rows and that text remains legible.
- Review the image before filing it. Use the preview to check that the report, date range, and relevant information are visible; locate or edit the result in Photos or your device’s Gallery.
Protect financial and customer information
Treat dashboard captures as potentially sensitive business records. A screenshot used for internal reconciliation may need transaction details; a copy shared more widely may not. Keep the original capture unchanged as the source record, store it with access controls appropriate to your business, and redact unrelated sensitive details from a separate sharing copy when needed. Inspect the copy before sending it.

Do not capture or share UPI PINs, OTPs, passwords, or login credentials. NPCI says UPI apps receive bank account details in masked form and cannot see all details; that does not mean every dashboard screenshot is free of sensitive information. India Post Payments Bank’s merchant terms also restrict handling sensitive customer data outside bank-provided software. These points support careful handling, but do not establish a general legal requirement for a particular redaction method.
Keep the record and check retention requirements
Keep the original capture as the source record rather than overwriting it with a redacted copy. The sources cited here do not establish a universal screenshot-retention period, mandatory screenshot format, or universal audit checklist. Ask your acquiring bank, payment provider, accountant, or auditor what records your business must retain and for how long.

If a payment status or transaction is in question, contact the acquiring bank or check the transaction status through the provider’s supported process. NPCI’s merchant FAQ says merchants can raise a grievance or check UPI transaction status directly with their acquiring banks. It also describes payment flow in which the merchant receives money after the customer confirms payment, subject to the merchant’s agreement; a screenshot alone should not be treated as proof of settlement when the provider’s status or records say otherwise.
App, web dashboard, or scrolling capture?
Use whichever interface in your existing provider setup gives you the evidence view you need. Compare the app and web dashboard by whether they provide the right report, date filters, clear business identification, and a sufficiently complete view. Do not assume that either offers export features unless your provider documents them.

A single-screen capture is usually easier to read when all relevant details fit. A scrolling screenshot can include more rows, but verify completeness and legibility before relying on it. If the report is too long or small to read in one image, use the provider’s supported reporting or record-export options if available, or ask the provider how to obtain an appropriate business record.
