A scrolling screenshot captures the entire document, including content below the visible browser window. On a computer, use your browser’s built-in full-page tool: Chrome through DevTools, Firefox through its screenshot control or Web Console, and Edge with Capture full page. On iPhone, use Safari’s Full Page option; on Android 12 or later, use the scrolling-capture control after taking a screenshot.
Before saving, let images and interactive sections finish loading. Full-page capture is not the same as a normal viewport screenshot, and sticky headers, chat widgets, animations, lazy-loaded images, and nested scrolling areas can create overlaps or missing content.
What a scrolling screenshot captures
A viewport screenshot records only what is currently visible. A scrolling, full-page screenshot renders the document beyond that viewport into one tall image or, on some devices, a PDF. It is useful for documenting an article, preserving a receipt or dashboard, reviewing a design, or sharing a page without sending multiple images.
The browser normally captures the document’s main scroll area. A panel inside the page that has its own scrollbar may not be included correctly. Likewise, content loaded only after scrolling, a consent dialog, or an embedded frame can require extra preparation.
Capture a full webpage in Chrome on desktop
- Open the page and wait for its text, images, and embedded content to finish loading. If the page uses lazy loading, scroll through it once and return to the top.
- Open DevTools with F12, or choose More tools → Developer tools from Chrome’s menu.
- Open the DevTools command menu with Ctrl+Shift+P on Windows or Linux, or Cmd+Shift+P on macOS.
- Type Capture full size screenshot.
- Select that command. Chrome saves a full-document image, normally as a PNG, to your downloads location.
Chrome’s full-size command includes content that is outside the current viewport. If you need only one component, use the element screenshot option from the same DevTools command menu after selecting the element in the Elements panel.

When Chrome’s result looks wrong
- Missing images: scroll through the page first so lazy-loaded resources are requested.
- Repeated or overlapping fixed bars: hide the sticky header or capture the relevant element instead.
- Animated content: pause the animation, wait for a stable frame, or use a delay-capable capture service.
- Nested panels: capture the panel’s element rather than expecting the document command to stitch its internal scroll position.
Capture a full webpage in Firefox
Use the screenshot button
- Open Developer Tools.
- Open Developer Tools settings and find Available Toolbox Buttons.
- Enable Take a screenshot of the entire page.
- Click the new screenshot button in the Developer Tools toolbar and save the file to Downloads.
Use Firefox’s Web Console
Firefox also provides a command-line route inside the browser:
screenshot page.png --fullpageRun it in the Web Console while the target page is active. Replace page.png with another filename if needed. The --fullpage flag tells Firefox to capture the complete document rather than the current viewport.
Capture a full webpage in Microsoft Edge
- Open the webpage and allow it to finish loading.
- Press Ctrl+Shift+S.
- Choose Capture full page.
- Review the result, then save it or copy it to the clipboard.
Edge’s command captures the entire webpage, including areas that would normally require scrolling. If a page contains a separate scrollable panel, use an element or viewport capture for that panel.
Take a scrolling screenshot on iPhone
- Open the page in Safari.
- Take a regular screenshot: press Side + Volume Up on Face ID models, or Side + Home on models with a Home button.
- Tap the screenshot preview that appears.
- Select Full Page.
- Review the long capture and crop it if necessary.
- Choose Save to Photos for an image, or Save PDF to Files for a document-style copy.
Safari’s Full Page mode is especially useful for articles and receipts because a PDF can be easier to search, print, and share than a very tall image.

Take a scrolling screenshot on Android
- Open the page or app screen you want to capture.
- Take a normal screenshot using your device’s screenshot gesture or power-and-volume shortcut.
- When the preview toolbar appears, tap the scrolling-capture control (the label and icon vary by manufacturer).
- Extend the capture until the required content is included, then save it.
Google documents this workflow for devices running Android 12 and later, on most screens that allow scrolling. The control may be absent for screens that do not expose a scrollable surface, and Samsung, Pixel, and other manufacturers can place or label it differently.
Prepare a page for an accurate full-page capture
Load lazy content
Many sites request images, cards, and advertisements only as they approach the viewport. Scroll from top to bottom once, wait for each section to render, then return to the top before using the full-page command.
Dismiss overlays
Cookie banners, newsletter forms, chat launchers, and sticky video players can cover content or be repeated in a stitched image. Close them, or hide their selectors in a tool that supports custom CSS.

Carousels, clocks, live prices, and CSS animations can change while the browser stitches a page. Pause playback and wait for a stable state. For a repeatable automated capture, set a fixed delay or wait for a selector or network idle.
Check dimensions and readability
Extremely tall images can be awkward to inspect and may exceed an app’s upload limit. Crop to the relevant section when a complete document is unnecessary. If the purpose is reading or printing, choose PDF output where available.

The capture stops at the visible viewport
Use the browser’s explicit full-page command, not its ordinary screenshot shortcut. On Firefox, confirm that the entire-page button is enabled or include --fullpage.

Images or cards are blank
Scroll through the page first, wait for network activity to settle, and capture again. If the content requires a click or login, perform that action before capture; an automated API can reproduce it with cookies, headers, JavaScript, or a click step.

An automated request returns an unexpected result
Inspect the HTTP status and the X-Page-Verdict and X-Billed headers. Check the target URL encoding, authentication, wait condition, viewport, and whether the site presents a bot check. Failed loads and bot checks are not billed by ScreenshotNeo, but they still need a different capture condition or access method.

Does a scrolling screenshot include a page’s internal scrollable table?
Not reliably. Browser full-page tools primarily capture the document scroll area; capture the table element separately or use a selector-based automated capture.
Can I capture a page that requires a login?
A browser can capture it after you sign in. An automated workflow needs the site’s permitted authentication state, such as cookies or Authorization headers.
Should I use PNG, WebP, JPEG, or PDF?
Use PNG for sharp UI text, WebP or JPEG for smaller image files, and PDF when the result is mainly for reading, printing, or archival.
