Scroll the page to trigger its lazy-loaded content, wait for the specific content you need to appear, and then capture it with fullPage: true. Full-page capture sets the screenshot’s extent; it does not itself trigger every lazy-loading mechanism or guarantee that every section has finished rendering.
Capture a full page after triggering lazy loading
Use document scrolling when the site loads content as it approaches the viewport. Then wait for a page-specific signal—such as an expected element becoming visible—before taking the screenshot.

- Navigate to the page.
page.goto(url)waits for theloadevent by default. Playwright also supportsdomcontentloaded,networkidleandcommitas navigation wait conditions. Choose the one appropriate to the application, but do not assume a navigation event means lazy content is ready. - Scroll through the document. Move down in viewport-sized increments, giving the page an opportunity to load content near the viewport.
- Wait for the content you need. Prefer a locator assertion, an expected item count, image readiness, or an application-specific completion state over a fixed delay.
- Capture the full scrollable page. Use
page.screenshot({ path: 'page.png', fullPage: true }).

The selector assertion is illustrative too: use an assertion that represents the actual content or completion state for your page.

Choose the right trigger and readiness check
Document scrolling
Use the scrolling loop when the page responds to the browser window approaching its lower sections. Some sites do not: content may load only after another interaction, or the page may put its content in an element with its own scroll bar. In those cases, scroll the relevant container or use the site’s actual trigger, then verify the expected content.
Wait for evidence, not just elapsed time
A fixed sleep may work sometimes but can be too short on a slow page and unnecessarily long on a fast one. A locator assertion, expected text or item count, or a page-specific completion signal ties the wait to the result you intend to capture.

Playwright documents networkidle as no network connections for at least 500 ms, but discourages using it as a general test-readiness signal; its guidance recommends web assertions to assess readiness. A quiet network is not, by itself, proof that all relevant content is visible or rendered. See the Playwright Page API.

Viewport or full-page capture
Use the default screenshot when you need the visible viewport. Set fullPage: true when you need the full scrollable document. Playwright defines a full-page screenshot as capturing the full scrollable page, but that option controls capture extent rather than activating lazy-loaded content. Diagnose missing content
- Content below the fold is absent: confirm that scrolling reaches the relevant sections and triggers the page’s loading behavior. Check whether the site needs a different trigger.
- Content lives in a nested scroll area: scrolling the window may leave that container untouched. Scroll the container itself and check for the expected item or state.
- Images or sections are still incomplete: replace a generic sleep or navigation wait with a readiness check tied to those images or sections.
- A virtualized list omits offscreen items: the application may recycle or remove items outside its rendered region. A full-page screenshot cannot capture elements that the page has not kept rendered; inspect how the component exposes or loads the required items.
- The screenshot is taller but still incomplete:
fullPage: trueexpands the capture to the full scrollable document; it does not guarantee that the site’s lazy-loading strategy has been satisfied.

Does fullPage: true load lazy images automatically?
No. It captures the full scrollable page; trigger the site’s lazy-loading behavior and check that the needed content is ready before capture.
Is networkidle the best wait condition for a complete screenshot?
Not as a universal readiness test. Playwright discourages it for tests and recommends assertions that assess the page state you need.
