In Chrome, open the checkout page, launch DevTools, turn on the device toolbar, and set a mobile viewport or choose a device preset. Use More options > Capture screenshot for the visible screen, or Capture a full size screenshot for the page beyond the viewport. For repeated captures, Playwright can automate viewport, element, and full-page screenshots.
Capture a mobile checkout in Chrome DevTools
- Open the checkout page in Chrome and open DevTools.
- Turn on the device toolbar. Keep the dimensions set to Responsive to enter a width and height, or choose a device preset when you need a particular device profile.
- Set the intended mobile viewport dimensions and orientation. Wait until the responsive layout and the checkout state you want to document have settled.
- In DevTools, open More options and select Capture screenshot for the visible viewport, or Capture a full size screenshot to include content beyond it.
- Review the saved image for the correct page state, readable content, and sensitive information before sharing it.
Device-specific mode can show a device frame before capture when you want a framed presentation. A page-only screenshot is generally easier to inspect.

Chrome’s device mode simulates a mobile experience from a desktop or laptop; Chrome describes it as a “first-order approximation.” It does not run the checkout on a physical phone, and some mobile characteristics, such as CPU architecture differences, are not represented. If you need to validate device-specific interactions or actual checkout behavior, test the flow on a phone too. A phone is not required for the basic emulated screenshot. Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsChoose the right screenshot scope
- Viewport: Choose the regular screenshot when you want to show what fits on the selected mobile screen.
- Full page: Choose full-size capture when the complete checkout page matters in one image, including content below the visible viewport.
- Element: For automated workflows, capture only a checkout component when the whole page is unnecessary.
A screenshot documents appearance at a particular moment; by itself it does not prove that the checkout works. Confirm the intended state and page readiness before capturing, and validate interactions separately when they matter.

Automate repeatable captures with Playwright
Playwright supports viewport, element-targeted, and full-scrollable-page screenshots. Its screenshot scale can be set to CSS pixels or device pixels, and its emulation features include mobile phones and tablets. These controls are useful when you need consistent captures across sizes or repeat the same capture in a workflow. Playwright screenshot documentation · Playwright emulation documentation
Use your existing Playwright project and browser setup, then configure its viewport or mobile-device emulation for the page you want to capture. Choose a page screenshot for the full page, a locator screenshot for a specific element, or the default viewport screenshot for the visible screen. Select CSS-pixel scale for an image sized to CSS pixels, or device-pixel scale when you want device-pixel output. The exact dimensions and checkout state should match the evidence you intend to produce.

Check the result before sharing
- Confirm the image shows the intended mobile width, orientation, and checkout state.
- Check that the capture scope is right: visible viewport or full page.
- Inspect the image for legibility and unintended sensitive information.
- For behavior that depends on a real phone, test the checkout on that device rather than treating desktop emulation as proof.
