Capture only after the page content and fonts are ready
Puppeteer’s current guide documents Page.screenshot() for a page and ElementHandle.screenshot() for a specific element. A reliable sequence is to navigate, wait for the application’s own capture-ready signal, wait for fonts, and then capture.

- Use the same Puppeteer, Chromium, operating system or container, and font setup as the environment that will produce the final image.
- Navigate to the page and wait for the Marathi text you need to capture. A navigation milestone such as
networkidle2can help, but it does not prove that a client-rendered application has finished adding its content. - After the text exists, await
document.fonts.ready. - Check that the intended font face and weight were selected, that its resource loaded, and that it supports the actual characters in the text.
- Capture the page or the selected element.
For current method details, see the Puppeteer screenshot guide.
Runnable example: wait for Marathi text, then capture
Replace the URL and readiness selector with the target page and its real application signal. The selector should appear only when the content you want is present.

const puppeteer = require('puppeteer');
(async () => {
const browser = await puppeteer.launch({ headless: true });
try {
const page = await browser.newPage();
await page.goto('https://example.com/marathi-page', {
waitUntil: 'networkidle2',
});
await page.waitForSelector('[data-render-complete]');
await page.evaluate(() => document.fonts.ready);
await page.screenshot({ path: 'capture.png' });
} finally {
await browser.close();
}
})();
document.fonts.ready resolves after the document’s font loading and related layout operations have settled, with no further font loads needed at that point. It does not establish that the preferred family won the CSS font selection or that every required glyph exists in that face; see MDN’s FontFaceSet.ready reference.
If the Marathi text is inside one element
Wait for the element and the fonts before taking its screenshot:

Confirm the font is right, not merely finished loading
Font readiness is a timing check, not a visual correctness test. Inspect the rendered element’s computed font-family, font-weight, and font-style; then inspect the browser’s network activity or font-face status to confirm the intended web-font file loaded successfully. Finally, verify the face covers the Marathi characters used by the page, including conjuncts and diacritics.

Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Google’s documentation explains that web-font delivery and rendering behavior are browser-dependent, and that Chrome can show blank space for text using a web font until it loads. See Google Fonts technical considerations. A completed font wait cannot supply a font that failed to download, add missing glyphs, or install a system font absent from the runtime.

Noto Sans Devanagari is one family you can evaluate if the existing face lacks coverage: Google Fonts’ Noto Sans Devanagari specimen. Test it against the page’s actual text and styling; it is a candidate, not a guaranteed fix.
Handle client-rendered pages and late text updates
Wait for the application’s own signal that the capture content exists before awaiting fonts. If a selector appears before the Marathi text is inserted or updated, wait for that update too, then await document.fonts.ready again. A fixed sleep can delay a capture, but it does not prove either that the desired content exists or that font loading has settled.

Troubleshoot incorrect Marathi text
| What you see | What to check | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Text is blank or changes after the screenshot | Whether the intended web-font request completed before capture. | Check font resource delivery and await document.fonts.ready after the text exists. Chrome may leave web-font text blank until its font finishes loading, as described in Google’s technical considerations. |
| Text appears, but glyphs are missing or look like the wrong fallback | The computed family and weight, the font file that loaded, and whether that face covers the exact characters. | Choose a suitable face with the needed glyph coverage and confirm it loaded. Evaluate Noto Sans Devanagari against the page rather than assuming it will solve every case. |
| Local capture is correct but deployed capture is not | Puppeteer and Chromium versions, operating system or container font inventory, font URL access, selected weight, page timing, and exact Marathi text. | Compare and record those conditions across both runs. Historical Puppeteer issue reports describe environment-related font and fallback problems, but they are anecdotal examples, not proof of a particular cause: Arabic font issue and font fallback issue. |
| Screenshot starts before the desired content appears | Whether the capture waits only for navigation or network activity rather than the application’s visual-ready state. | Wait for a page-specific selector or application signal, then await fonts and capture. |
Make local and deployed captures comparable
When diagnosing a mismatch, record the same factors for each run so a font issue is not confused with a content-timing or environment difference:

- Puppeteer and Chromium versions.
- Operating system or container image and installed fonts.
- Computed family, weight, and style.
- Whether the web-font resources loaded successfully.
- The exact Marathi text, including conjuncts and diacritics.
- The application readiness condition, viewport, and page or element capture target.
Font delivery can vary by browser, and historical issue reports illustrate possible runtime differences. Without the target page, its font trace, and the producing runtime, no single cause can be diagnosed in advance.

ScreenshotNeo is a screenshot API and MCP server. One GET request can return a screenshot or PDF; for correct Marathi rendering, the page still needs an appropriate font and the capture must allow its content and fonts to load.
For example, using the API’s documented request pattern with your page URL:
curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://example.com/marathi-page -o shot.webp
See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for request options. Cookie banners, popups, and chat widgets are removed before the shot; bot checks, blank pages, and failed loads are never billed. Its MCP server lets AI agents take screenshots. The Free plan includes 1,000 screenshots a month with no card, and paid plans start at $5 for 3,000. Sign up for free.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does `document.fonts.ready` guarantee that Marathi glyphs will render correctly?
No. It indicates font loading and related layout have settled; it does not verify the selected face or its glyph coverage.
Can I use a fixed delay instead of waiting for fonts?
A delay is not proof that either the desired content exists or font loading is complete. Wait for the page’s readiness signal and then await `document.fonts.ready`.
