Use Playwright to load the product page, click the newsletter popup’s actual dismissal control, wait until the overlay is gone, and then capture the page. The button name and popup structure vary by site, so inspect the page rather than relying on a universal selector.
Dismiss the popup before taking the screenshot
For a predictable newsletter popup, handle it explicitly in the normal page flow. Playwright’s Page API documentation shows a newsletter overlay dismissed with a “No thanks” button and recommends waiting for a predictable overlay and dismissing it as part of the normal flow.

Choose what to capture
Playwright supports screenshots of the visible browser viewport, the full scrollable page, and a specific locator such as a product image or details panel. The right scope depends on what the image needs to show.

Handle popups that appear inconsistently
If the newsletter overlay appears only sometimes, check whether it is visible and dismiss it when present. Keep the click and visibility check close together so a missing popup does not block the screenshot flow. Playwright also offers locator handlers for overlays, but its Page API documentation cautions that handlers can run between actions and affect mouse or keyboard state. Prefer a self-contained locator action where possible, then verify the desired page state before saving.
Distinguish newsletter dismissal from consent
A newsletter popup and a cookie-consent banner are different overlays. Dismissing a newsletter offer means using its close or decline control; it does not mean subscribing. A cookie banner may have its own consent controls and requirements. Browserless documents a cookie-banner dismissal example, but that is an analogous overlay workflow, not evidence that cookie consent and newsletter signup are interchangeable: Browserless banner-dismissal example.
Also distinguish an in-page modal from a browser JavaScript dialog such as alert, confirm, or prompt. Those are separate browser features and need separate handling; a page locator for a newsletter dialog will not dismiss them.

Troubleshoot common failures
- The button locator times out: The popup may not have appeared yet, or its label or role may differ. Inspect the page and use the actual accessible role and name or stable page markup.
- The click succeeds but the overlay remains: The selected control may not dismiss the modal, or a different overlay may still be present. Wait for the relevant overlay to become hidden and confirm the product content is unobstructed before capturing.
- The page has no newsletter dialog: Do not require a dialog locator that the page does not expose. Make popup handling conditional when its appearance is intermittent.
- The screenshot omits product details: A viewport screenshot includes only the current browser view. Use a full-page screenshot when the content below the fold must appear.
- The image is unexpectedly tall: Full-page capture includes the full scrollable document. Use viewport or element capture if only a screen view or a specific section is needed.
- Interactions become unreliable with an overlay handler: A handler can run between actions and alter input state. Keep actions self-contained and check that the page is in the intended state before saving.
