Set Playwright’s browser context to a 360 CSS-pixel-wide viewport, then capture the visible screen with page.screenshot(). For an image that is exactly 360 raster pixels wide, use scale: 'css' and deviceScaleFactor: 1. The example below uses a placeholder URL; test with an authorized environment and synthetic banking data.
Capture a Playwright screenshot at 360px
In Playwright, the viewport width is measured in CSS pixels. The viewport height is your choice; use a value that matches the screen area you want to inspect. Setting isMobile and a locale can help emulate relevant browser behavior, but does not turn a desktop browser into a real phone.

Get the intended image dimensions
The context viewport specifies browser layout size, not automatically the number of pixels in the saved image. Playwright’s screenshot scale determines whether output uses CSS pixels or device pixels. With scale: 'css', the image follows CSS-pixel dimensions; setting deviceScaleFactor: 1 avoids a higher-density device-pixel output for this capture. Together, these settings make the screenshot 360 raster pixels wide for a 360 CSS-pixel viewport. If you omit them or choose device-pixel output, the raster dimensions may differ. Protect financial data in screenshots
Banking screenshots may expose account numbers, balances, names, or transaction details. Prefer synthetic test data, and mask sensitive elements before saving or sharing a capture. Playwright’s screenshot API supports masking selected locators; for example, adapt the locator to the sensitive field in your test page:

OWASP’s Mobile Application Security Testing Guide warns that screenshots of banking applications can reveal account, credit, and transaction information. This is a reason to treat captures as sensitive, not a claim that a particular web app stores or exposes data in a specific way.

What mobile emulation does—and does not—prove
A 360-pixel Playwright viewport lets you inspect a page under an emulated browser configuration. It does not establish that the page works on every real phone, validate a bank’s live service, or replace testing on physical devices. Real-device behavior can depend on browser and operating-system characteristics outside the viewport setting.
Troubleshooting
- The output is wider than 360 pixels: check that the context uses
viewport: { width: 360, ... }and the screenshot usesscale: 'css'. For exact 360-pixel raster width, setdeviceScaleFactor: 1. - The screenshot is taller than expected: confirm you have not set
fullPage: true. The default captures only the viewport; full-page mode captures the scrollable document. - The capture is blank or navigation fails: verify the test URL is reachable from the machine running Playwright and that you have permission to access it. This example does not prescribe a bank login flow or bypass access controls.
- The mobile layout does not appear: verify the viewport configuration is applied to the context used by the page. Mobile emulation is not a guarantee that a site will render or behave like it does on every physical device.
- Sensitive text remains visible: check that the masking locator matches the relevant element before saving or sharing the image; use synthetic data where possible.
