You can save a webpage from a bank, but the saved copy is not automatically private: review it and securely redact sensitive details before sharing. Use a device you control, visit the bank through its official address, and avoid public terminals for banking. Browser save and print controls export page content; they are not privacy filters.
Before you capture anything, protect the banking session
- Use a trusted device you control and an up-to-date browser. Government safe-browsing guidance advises against financial transactions on public terminals (Ministry of Home Affairs guidance).
- Go to the bank by typing its official web address, rather than following an unexpected email or SMS link. Indian Bank specifically advises customers to type its official address when accessing its banking site (Indian Bank security tips).
- Capture only the page content you need. Do not expose or send anyone live account details, credentials, card information, or a live banking session.
Indian Bank describes net-banking IDs and passwords, card numbers and PINs, and online financial information such as account numbers as highly confidential. Bank of India likewise identifies account details, card numbers, CVV, PINs, and banking credentials as sensitive (Bank of India security guidelines).

Save or print the page using browser controls
Browser menus vary by operating system and version, and a banking site may not behave like an ordinary webpage. The following are Chrome desktop examples, not guaranteed instructions for every device or bank portal. Chrome documents these as export methods, not as ways to remove account details.

Save a webpage
- Open the relevant page on the bank’s official site.
- In Chrome, select More tools > Save page as and choose a location and file type available in your browser. See Chrome Help: Save a page.
- Open the saved result and check what was actually included. A saved webpage may not be a single full-page image or a fixed-layout record.
Print to a PDF
- In Chrome desktop, use File > Print or the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+P on Windows/Linux or ⌘+P on macOS.
- Choose a PDF destination if your system offers one, then save the file. Chrome’s print instructions are at Chrome Help: Print from Chrome.
- Open the PDF and inspect all pages. Printing can paginate or omit content differently from the live page.
Neither method promises to conceal account information. The cited Chrome instructions describe saving and printing; they do not claim that these actions filter sensitive data. The reviewed guidance does not establish that any particular full-page capture method works on every Indian bank portal.

Inspect the copy, then redact before sharing
Review the exported file from beginning to end, including headers, footers, side panels, and content lower down the page. Check for account numbers, names, balances, transaction details, card information, addresses, and any other identifiers that are not needed by the recipient. A screenshot or PDF can preserve information that is visible outside the portion you intended to share.
If you need to share a PDF, use a dedicated PDF redaction tool to remove sensitive content, then save a separate redacted copy. Do not treat a black rectangle, highlight, or drawing over text as redaction: Google Chromebook Help warns that underlying text or images can still be accessed and recommends a dedicated redaction tool (Google Chromebook Help: Redact a PDF). After redacting, reopen the output and check that the covered text cannot be selected or recovered. Keep the unredacted original private.

Close the session and store only what you need
When finished, log out of the banking site and close the browser. Indian Bank advises users to log out and close the browser after internet banking. Keep the original capture private; share only a reviewed, redacted copy when sharing is necessary.

Does drawing a black box over a PDF account number remove it?
No. A visual overlay may leave underlying text or image data accessible. Use a dedicated PDF redaction workflow and verify the saved output.
