What “full-page screenshot” means on Pixel
Google’s feature is called a scrolling screenshot. It creates one tall still image from content that extends below the visible display, such as a long article, settings list or conversation. It is different from a screen recording, which produces a video.
The built-in method requires a Pixel device running Android 12 or newer. Google’s wording is deliberately qualified: “These steps work on devices running Android 12 and up, on most screens that allow you to scroll.” That means a page can be scrollable yet still decline to offer the control.

Capture a full-page screenshot on Google Pixel
- Open the target screen. Navigate to the app, document, webpage or list you want to capture. Position it where you want the screenshot to begin.
- Press Power and Volume down together. Press both buttons at the same time and release them. Pixel takes the regular screenshot and displays screenshot controls or a preview.
- Tap Capture more. This button appears alongside the screenshot controls when the current screen supports scrolling capture.
- Extend the capture. Drag the crop guides up or down to include the additional content. The preview shows the larger area selected.
- Save or share. Use the controls in the screenshot preview to save, edit or share the image. If you leave the preview, the image is still available in Google Photos.
The capture is a single still image, not a sequence of separate screenshots. Very long pages can produce a correspondingly tall file, so check the final image before sending it to someone or uploading it.
When Capture more does not appear
The missing button does not necessarily indicate a fault with your Pixel. Google promises scrolling screenshots on most screens that allow scrolling, rather than on every scrollable screen. Its official help pages do not provide an exhaustive list of compatible apps, browsers or page types, so avoid assuming that a particular browser is always supported.
- Confirm that the phone is running Android 12 or later.
- Make sure the content actually extends below the visible screen and can be scrolled normally.
- Take the screenshot again from the content view, rather than from a dialog, keyboard view or transient overlay.
- Try the app’s own update, then restart the Pixel and repeat the button shortcut.
- If the control still does not appear, the current screen may not support the built-in scrolling flow. Use several ordinary screenshots or record the screen instead.
For an ordinary screenshot, press Power + Volume down and stop after the first capture. Pixel’s app-switcher route can also expose screenshot controls, depending on the navigation mode and software version; Google documents that alternative in its Pixel instructions.
Find, check and share the finished image
You can open the image immediately from the screenshot preview. Later, open Google Photos → Collections → On this device → Screenshots. Labels can vary by language, country and app version, but the Screenshots folder is the relevant location.

Check the edges
Before sharing, inspect the top and bottom crop guides. Remove navigation bars, duplicate content or private information that was included accidentally. A scrolling screenshot can contain material that was loaded only after you moved through the page, so verify that headings, images and text are in the expected order.
Share a readable file
Use the preview’s share action to send the original image when the recipient needs to zoom. Messaging apps may recompress a very tall image; sending it as a file or through cloud storage can preserve more detail. Crop sensitive account information before sharing.

Google explains screen recording, including single-app and whole-screen recording, in its Pixel screen-recording guide. Recording is not a substitute when you need a searchable or printable still image, but it is useful when movement or interaction is the important evidence.
Privacy and practical limits
- Review sensitive data: Long captures can include account numbers, addresses, notifications or content below the section you were viewing.
- Expect app-dependent behavior: A web page, PDF viewer, chat, canvas or custom interface may expose different screenshot controls.
- Watch image dimensions: A full-page image may be difficult to view in a standard gallery or message window. Crop it into logical sections when readability matters.
- Capture a stable state: Close menus and stop animated content where possible. Dynamic feeds can change while you are selecting the crop area.
- Do not confuse scrolling with loading: If more content appears only after network requests, wait for it to load before taking the initial screenshot.
Troubleshooting checklist
Power + Volume down does nothing
Press the two buttons simultaneously, not one after the other. Remove a case that prevents a button from registering, then try again. If the shortcut remains unavailable, use the screenshot command exposed by the app switcher or the device’s accessibility and power-menu options.
The screenshot is ordinary, but Capture more is absent
This is usually a support-boundary issue: Google supports most, not all, scrollable screens. Confirm Android 12 or later, test that the page scrolls, and retry from the main content view. There is no official compatibility list that can guarantee a particular app.
The result stops too early
After tapping Capture more, move the crop guide farther down before saving. If the page has separate scroll regions, start the capture inside the region that actually contains the content. Content that never loads cannot be included.
The image is hard to read or share
Crop out blank space and split an exceptionally tall capture into sections. Share the original file rather than a recompressed preview when text clarity is important.
You need motion, not a still
Use Pixel’s screen recorder and choose whether to record one app or the whole screen. The resulting video documents activity that a scrolling screenshot cannot.
