This captures content below the visible screen, not just what is currently displayed. For a normal screen, window, or selected region, use Windows Snipping Tool or an HP Print Screen shortcut instead.
Full-page and full-screen screenshots are different
A full-page screenshot joins the complete webpage, including sections you would normally reach by scrolling. A full-screen screenshot records the laptop display at one moment. The second option cannot include content that is below the browser window.
That distinction determines which HP method you should use:

Method 1: Capture an entire webpage with Microsoft Edge
Edge’s Screenshot feature is the software route Microsoft documents for webpages that extend below the viewport. It creates an overlay where you can mark up the capture, copy it, or save it.

- Open Edge and load the page. Wait until the page has finished loading. If the page inserts content as you scroll, allow that content to appear before capturing.
- Open Screenshot. Press Ctrl+Shift+S. If that shortcut does nothing, right-click on the webpage and choose Screenshot, or open Edge’s Settings and use the Screenshot entry there. Microsoft notes that the command can vary by browser version, device type, and market.
- Select Capture full page. Do not choose a rectangular selection if you need the portions below the fold. Edge will build a capture of the webpage rather than only the visible monitor area.
- Review the result. Scroll through the overlay to check that headings, images, menus, and other important sections are present. You can annotate the image if needed.
- Copy or save it. Use the overlay’s copy or save control, then choose a location and image format offered by your Edge installation.
The capture is of the webpage, not a physical HP display feature, so the same workflow applies across HP laptop models that run a supported Edge version. Microsoft does not promise that every website or embedded interactive element will render perfectly; inspect the saved file before sharing it.
If the full-page command is missing
First try the other two entry points: right-click the page and select Screenshot, or open Edge Settings and locate Screenshot there. Then update Edge through its normal browser update screen and retry. Availability can differ by browser version, device type, and market, so a missing command does not necessarily indicate a keyboard fault.
Method 2: Use Snipping Tool for the visible screen
Windows Snipping Tool is the right choice when you need a screen region, a program window, or the entire display as it looks now. Microsoft documents it for Windows 10 and Windows 11.
- Press Windows+Shift+S.
- Choose a mode from the toolbar: freeform, rectangular, window, or full screen.
- Select the area or window. The image opens in Snipping Tool.
- Edit, save, or share the capture from the Snipping Tool window.
Snipping Tool’s documented modes do not provide Edge’s webpage-length capture. If you see only region, window, or full-screen choices, that is normal; return to Edge for a scrolling webpage.
Method 3: HP Print Screen shortcuts
HP’s keyboard guide lists several shortcuts. They capture the display, active window, or a selected region, not an entire scrolling webpage.

- Windows+PrtSc: saves a full-screen image to Pictures > Screenshots on supported configurations.
- Fn+PrtSc: try this combination when pressing PrtSc does not respond. Some HP laptop keyboards require the function key.
- Alt+PrtSc: captures the active window.
- Windows+Shift+S: opens Snipping Tool for a selected area, window, or screen.
Key labels and function-key behavior vary by HP model. Look for a key marked PrtSc, PrtScn, or a similar abbreviation. These shortcuts cannot collect webpage sections that are outside the visible browser window.
Choosing the right capture for common tasks
You need a complete article, receipt, or documentation page
Use Edge Screenshot and Capture full page. Review the overlay from top to bottom and save the result after checking that images and late-loading sections are present.
You need evidence of what is currently on screen
Use Snipping Tool’s rectangular or window mode. This keeps the capture focused on the relevant dialog or application instead of producing a very tall webpage image.

You need a fast archive of the visible desktop
Press Windows+PrtSc. Open Pictures > Screenshots to find the saved file. If the shortcut fails, try Fn+PrtSc or use Snipping Tool.
Quality, privacy, and reliability checks
- Check the page state first. Expand accordions, dismiss obstructive dialogs, and wait for important images or text to load before starting the full-page capture.
- Inspect the bottom as well as the top. A tall image can look correct at a glance while still missing a lower section or showing a loading placeholder.
- Protect private information. Full-page captures can include account names, email addresses, order numbers, or content in a footer that was not visible initially. Crop or redact before sending the file.
- Choose an appropriate destination. Save work-related captures in a controlled folder and use a descriptive filename such as
support-page-2026-09-30. - Expect site-specific differences. Sticky headers, animations, embedded frames, consent dialogs, and lazy-loaded components may not appear exactly as they do during manual scrolling. If accuracy matters, compare the saved image with the live page.
Troubleshooting an HP full-page screenshot
Ctrl+Shift+S does nothing
Use the webpage’s right-click menu and select Screenshot. If that option is absent, open Edge Settings and look for Screenshot. The feature’s availability is dependent on Edge version, device, and market. For a guaranteed visible-screen capture, use Windows+Shift+S instead.

The result contains only the visible screen
You used Snipping Tool or a Print Screen shortcut, or selected a region in Edge. Reopen Edge Screenshot and explicitly choose Capture full page; a full-screen mode is not the same as a full webpage.
PrtSc does not work on the HP keyboard
Try Fn+PrtSc. HP notes that some laptop layouts route the Print Screen action through the function layer. You can also bypass the key entirely with Windows+Shift+S.
Images or interactive sections are missing
Return to the page, wait for network activity and lazy-loaded images to finish, and trigger any required expansion before capturing. Save a new capture and inspect it. Official Microsoft guidance does not guarantee flawless rendering for every website or embedded element.
The image is too large to share
Keep the original file as an archive, then make a copy for sharing and resize or crop that copy. For a short exchange, Snipping Tool may be more practical if the recipient only needs one visible section.
