Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Scroll the page to trigger and load its additional content, wait for observable progress, and only then capture it with await page.screenshot({ path: 'page.png', fullPage: true }). Puppeteer’s fullPage option captures the page’s full rendered size; it does not promise to trigger an infinite feed or load content that scrolling would have requested.
Why a full-page screenshot alone may miss content
Infinite-scroll pages commonly request more items in response to scroll activity. If those requests have not happened before capture, the items may not exist in the rendered page for Puppeteer to include. The reliable sequence is therefore: scroll to trigger loading, wait for the page to change, repeat within a limit, return to the top if appropriate, then capture.

Puppeteer’s screenshot guide documents Page.screenshot(), and its API reference defines fullPage as an option for capturing the full page. Neither says that fullPage itself exhausts an infinite feed. See the Puppeteer screenshot guide and the ScreenshotOptions interface. The documentation surfaced for this article is version 25.12.0; check the docs matching the version installed in your project if behavior or options differ.
A bounded scrolling-and-capture example
This example assumes you have already launched Puppeteer, created page, and navigated to the target URL. It scrolls the main document, checks for document-height growth, stops after three unchanged checks or 40 passes, scrolls back to the top, and saves a full-page PNG.
#1 Best Overall
- CRISP CLARITY: This 23.8″ Philips V line monitor delivers crisp Full HD 1920x1080 visuals. Enjoy movies, shows and videos with remarkable detail
- INCREDIBLE CONTRAST: The VA panel produces brighter whites and deeper blacks. You get true-to-life images and more gradients with 16.7 million colors
- THE PERFECT VIEW: The 178/178 degree extra wide viewing angle prevents the shifting of colors when viewed from an offset angle, so you always get consistent colors
- WORK SEAMLESSLY: This sleek monitor is virtually bezel-free on three sides, so the screen looks even bigger for the viewer. This minimalistic design also allows for seamless multi-monitor setups that enhance your workflow and boost productivity
- A BETTER READING EXPERIENCE: For busy office workers, EasyRead mode provides a more paper-like experience for when viewing lengthy documents
// Assume `page` has already navigated to the target URL.
await page.evaluate(async () => {
const pause = ms => new Promise(resolve => setTimeout(resolve, ms));
let previousHeight = 0;
let unchangedPasses = 0;
const maxPasses = 40;
for (let pass = 0; pass < maxPasses; pass++) {
const height = document.documentElement.scrollHeight;
window.scrollTo(0, height);
await pause(700); // Tune for the site; this is not a Puppeteer default.
const nextHeight = document.documentElement.scrollHeight;
if (nextHeight <= previousHeight) {
unchangedPasses++;
} else {
unchangedPasses = 0;
}
previousHeight = nextHeight;
if (unchangedPasses >= 3) break;
}
window.scrollTo(0, 0);
});
await page.screenshot({ path: 'page.png', fullPage: true });
The 700 ms pause and loop limits are example safeguards, not Puppeteer defaults or guarantees. Tune them to the site and verify the saved file. The example uses the documented Page.screenshot() method and fullPage option; see the Page.screenshot() reference.
Choose the right trigger, progress signal, and stopping rule
Document height is a useful signal when newly appended items extend the page, but it is not universal. Match the loop to the target site rather than treating unchanged height as proof that all content has loaded.

| What to decide | Options and when to use them |
|---|---|
| Scroll trigger | Scroll the window for a normally scrolling document; scroll the actual nested element if the feed has its own scroll area; activate a “load more” control when the site uses one. |
| Progress signal | Document height works when appended content grows the document. For other layouts, watch a site-specific item count, loading indicator, or other observable marker. |
| Bound | Set a maximum number of passes, item count, or elapsed-time budget. A hard bound prevents a feed that keeps changing from running indefinitely. |
| Capture scope | Use fullPage: true for the full page; use clip when you need only a defined region. Puppeteer documents these as screenshot options. |
If loading is slow or throttled, a fixed short wait can take the screenshot too early. Prefer waiting for a meaningful site-specific signal when possible, while retaining a hard timeout. Some pages change content without changing document height, so an unchanged-height test alone can stop prematurely.

Scrolling can also trigger images that load only when they approach the viewport. If the page has not been scrolled through, those images may be absent or blank in the capture. A user report describes this failure mode, but it is site-dependent rather than a universal Puppeteer behavior: Can’t capture full-page screenshot with all images.

After the scroll loop, wait for the relevant images or loading state if the target exposes a reliable signal. For feeds that replace earlier items, alter content during capture, require consent, or use a nested scrolling container, adapt the trigger and completion check to that page. A screenshot call completing successfully confirms that a capture was made; it does not prove that every feed item or image finished loading.
Troubleshooting incomplete or unreliable captures
- New items never appear: the page may use a nested scroll container or an explicit load-more control. Scroll that container or handle the control rather than only calling
window.scrollTo. - The loop stops although more content exists: document height may not change when items load. Track an item count or loading indicator instead, and keep a maximum pass or time limit.
- Images are blank: the page may lazy-load images only after scrolling, or image requests may still be pending. Trigger the relevant scroll and wait for a page-specific image-ready condition before capture.
- The loop runs too long: an endless feed may continue loading indefinitely, or the chosen progress signal may never settle. Enforce a pass, item, or elapsed-time ceiling and capture the intended bounded portion.
- The capture is incomplete despite a successful call: inspect the saved image and compare it with the expected feed state. The screenshot method captures rendered content; it does not certify the target site’s loading completeness.
Or skip the browser setup
ScreenshotNeo provides a screenshot API and MCP server. For an ordinary page capture, make one GET request; see the ScreenshotNeo API documentation. The endpoint is not a substitute for a site-specific infinite-scroll loop when content must first be triggered through scrolling.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does Puppeteer’s fullPage option automatically scroll an infinite feed?
No. It requests a full-page capture; scroll the page separately to trigger feed content before taking the screenshot.

Why can a screenshot call succeed while the result is missing content?
A successful call means Puppeteer completed a capture, not that the site had loaded every feed item or image. Inspect the saved image and use a site-specific completion signal.
