In Firefox, open the archived webcam page, wait for the replay to render, then right-click an empty area and choose Take Screenshot (or press Ctrl+Shift+S on Windows/Linux or Command+Shift+S on macOS). Select Save full page to capture the page beyond the current viewport. The result documents what Firefox displayed—not necessarily playable or preserved webcam footage.
Capture the whole archived page in Firefox
- Open the archived page. Use the archive’s replay URL, not just the original webcam address. Wait for available page content to finish rendering. If the archive displays a blank player, error, or unavailable-video message, capture that state as shown; do not treat the image as footage.
- Open Firefox’s screenshot tool. Right-click an empty part of the page and choose Take Screenshot. Alternatively, use Ctrl+Shift+S on Windows or Linux, or Command+Shift+S on macOS. Mozilla’s instructions are in Take screenshots in Firefox.
- Choose the full-page option. Select Save full page in the upper-right corner. Mozilla’s instruction is: “Select Save full page in the upper right corner.” Save visible captures only the current viewport.
- Save and locate the image. Firefox downloads the image to its default download folder. Mozilla says the filename includes the capture date and time and the page title.
If the menu item is unavailable or the standard screenshot interface does not suit the page, try Firefox Developer Tools instead.

Use Firefox Developer Tools as an alternative
Mozilla documents enabling a full-page screenshot button in Developer Tools and taking a screenshot from the Web Console with the --fullpage option. The resulting file is saved in the browser’s Downloads directory. Follow the current Mozilla instructions for the exact controls and command syntax: Web Console helper commands.
This route still creates an image of the rendered page; it does not package the archived site’s underlying resources for replay.

Record what the screenshot represents
Keep a short note with the image so someone viewing it later can distinguish the archived capture from your new screenshot. A practical record includes:
- The original webcam-page URL and the archive replay URL.
- The capture date and time displayed by the archive, if available, and the date and time you took the screenshot.
- The browser and version used.
- Any missing or nonfunctional content, such as a player that shows an error, remains blank, or does not play.
This is useful documentation practice informed by archive records and limitations; it is not a universal legal or evidentiary standard. The Internet Archive describes replay limitations for content that depends on forms, JavaScript, or interaction with the originating host: Using the Wayback Machine.

What a full-page screenshot proves—and what it cannot
The image records the page as Firefox rendered it at the time you captured it. It can show layout, text, an archive banner, displayed timestamps, and whether a player or error state appeared. It does not by itself preserve the archived resources, establish that all page content loaded, retain working interactions, or prove that video was captured and remains replayable.
Web archives preserve captured web content in formats such as WARC or ARC, whereas a screenshot is a saved image. The Library of Congress notes that collection can be limited for content streamed through third-party applications, database or other user-input-dependent content, some dynamic data, and subscription-protected material. Its overview also explains that a webpage consists of multiple files and that capture cannot be guaranteed to be complete or flawless: Library of Congress Web Archiving and WARC format description.
An archived webcam page may therefore preserve a player shell without replayable video. Inspect the actual replay and describe only what it shows. If the goal is to preserve a resource for later replay, a screenshot is not a substitute for an appropriate web-archiving workflow.
