How to Capture a Full-Page Screenshot of a Twitter/X Page

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

To save a Twitter/X page as one image, use your browser’s full-page screenshot feature: Firefox has a Save full page command, while Chrome and Edge offer Capture a full size screenshot. First let the posts and images you need load. A full-page capture includes rendered content below the viewport; it cannot reliably include feed items that have not loaded yet.

What a full-page screenshot captures

A full-page screenshot saves the rendered page beyond the part currently visible on screen. It is useful for preserving a thread or a long page as one image, rather than stitching together several viewport screenshots. The result reflects what the browser has rendered at capture time, not necessarily every post Twitter/X might load later as you scroll.

That distinction matters on a dynamic feed. Posts, images, and replies may appear as you move down the page, and some feed content may not yet be present in the rendered page. Before taking the screenshot, load the content you want to preserve. If a full-page capture still misses replies or posts, load further and capture again, or save the thread in smaller sections.

Choose the method for your browser

Browser and method Developer Tools? Output and practical fit
Firefox Screenshot → Save full page No Downloads an image; the shortest browser workflow.
Firefox DevTools screenshot button Yes, enable the button first Downloads an image of the entire page.
Chrome or Chromium DevTools Yes Use Capture a full size screenshot for content beyond the viewport.
Microsoft Edge capture controls Use the screenshot/Web Capture controls Choose Capture a full size screenshot.

Firefox’s built-in Screenshot tool is the most direct choice if you want a simple menu command. Chrome and Edge have a documented full-size capture command, and Firefox also has a DevTools workflow if you prefer its developer tools. In all three cases, content that has not loaded is the main practical limitation—not the choice between a full-page command and a normal viewport screenshot.

Capture a Twitter/X page in Firefox

Use the Screenshot tool

  1. Open the Twitter/X page or thread you want to save.
  2. Scroll through the page as needed so the posts, images, or replies you want are loaded and visible.
  3. Open Firefox’s Screenshot tool and choose Save full page.
  4. Download the resulting image and open it to check that the desired content is present.

Mozilla describes the Screenshot tool’s full-page result as a downloadable image. This route does not require enabling a Developer Tools button.

Use Firefox Developer Tools

  1. Open the Twitter/X page and let the content you need load.
  2. Open Firefox Developer Tools and enable Take a screenshot of the entire page under Available Toolbox Buttons.
  3. Click the screenshot icon in the toolbox.
  4. Check your Downloads folder for the saved image.

For a console-based workflow, Mozilla documents the Web Console command :screenshot <filename.png> --fullpage. Replace <filename.png> with the filename you want. The --fullpage option specifies a capture of the whole page rather than only the visible browser area.

Capture a Twitter/X page in Chrome or Chromium

  1. Open the Twitter/X page. Allow the posts, images, and other content you need to appear.
  2. Open Developer Tools.
  3. In the DevTools menu or command controls, select Capture a full size screenshot.
  4. Open the saved image and verify that the page content you intended to capture is included.

Google documents this command as the way to capture the whole page, including content not currently visible in the viewport. The exact route to the command can vary with the Chromium browser’s DevTools interface, so look for the named full-size capture command rather than a regular screenshot of the visible area.

Capture a Twitter/X page in Microsoft Edge

  1. Open the page or thread in Edge and load the content you want.
  2. Open Edge’s screenshot or Web Capture controls.
  3. Choose Capture a full size screenshot.
  4. Inspect the saved image to confirm it includes the intended content.

Microsoft documents the full-size command as including page content that is not currently visible in the viewport. If you use a capture option that only saves the visible region, switch to the full-size option.

Capture a full thread rather than just the first visible posts

A long thread is not always the same thing as a fully loaded page. A full-page command captures the page state the browser has rendered; it does not guarantee that every reply or feed item has been fetched. Use this sequence when completeness matters:

  1. Open the thread itself, rather than relying on a feed preview if that preview omits replies.
  2. Scroll through the thread and wait for the replies and images you need to appear.
  3. Return to the full-page screenshot command in your browser.
  4. Review the resulting image for missing sections. If content is absent, load more and try again, or capture separate sections.

For a very long or continually updating feed, smaller captures may be more dependable than expecting one image to include items that were never loaded. A full-page image is convenient to view as one file, but it can be difficult to read when scaled down; keep the original image and zoom in when inspecting text.

Or skip the browser setup

ScreenshotNeo can return a website screenshot from one GET request, with PNG, JPEG, WebP, or PDF output. It is an alternative when you need an API or want an AI agent to take a screenshot. For an exact Twitter/X post or thread, replace the example URL with the page URL you want to capture. The page must be accessible to the request; ScreenshotNeo supports custom cookies, headers, and Authorization, but configure access for your page as appropriate. See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for parameters and output options.

cURL

curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://x.com -o shot.webp

Python

import requests
r = requests.get("https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot", params={"access_key": "YOUR_API_KEY", "url": "https://x.com"}, timeout=90)
open("shot.webp", "wb").write(r.content)

Node.js

const q = new URLSearchParams({ access_key: 'YOUR_API_KEY', url: 'https://x.com' });
const res = await fetch(`https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot?${q}`);

Before capture, ScreenshotNeo can accept cookie or consent banners and remove more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets; each of those steps can be turned off. Bot checks or CAPTCHAs, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits cost nothing, and the response reports the page verdict and billing status in headers. An MCP server provides take_screenshot, get_page_info, and capture_pdf tools for Claude, Cursor, and other MCP clients. The free plan includes 1,000 screenshots per month with no card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000 screenshots. Sign up for free and try ScreenshotNeo.

Troubleshooting missed or unusable captures

The screenshot ends before the thread does

The posts at the end may not have loaded when you captured. Scroll farther through the thread, wait until the replies appear, and capture again. If the feed continues to omit items, split the capture into smaller sections.

The image shows only the visible screen

You likely selected a normal screenshot rather than the full-page option. In Chrome or Edge, choose Capture a full size screenshot; in Firefox, choose Save full page or use its entire-page DevTools button.

The Firefox DevTools screenshot button is missing

Enable Take a screenshot of the entire page in Available Toolbox Buttons, then use the new screenshot icon. Alternatively, use Firefox’s consumer-facing Screenshot tool and its Save full page command.

Some posts or images are absent

Check whether they had appeared on the page before capture. Browser documentation describes capture of content beyond the viewport, but does not guarantee inclusion of feed items that have not loaded or are virtualized. Load more of the page and repeat, or capture separate portions.

The image is hard to read

A full-page image can make text appear small when viewed at fit-to-window size. Open the image at its original size and zoom in. For a long thread, separate images may be easier to inspect than one tall image.

The capture command is difficult to find

Use the named full-page command rather than a generic screenshot control: Firefox’s Save full page, Chrome’s Capture a full size screenshot, or Edge’s equivalent full-size capture. In Firefox DevTools, enable the screenshot button first if using that route.

Saving, sharing, and keeping a useful record

After downloading, open the image before sharing it. Confirm the first and last posts you wanted are present, check that images are visible, and make sure the text is readable at the size your recipient will use. Keep the original file if you may need to inspect small text later. A screenshot records the rendered page as an image; it is not a guarantee that future edits, deleted posts, or unrendered replies are represented.

If your goal is to preserve a particularly long thread for close reading, capture it in sections when a single image becomes unwieldy. If the goal is simply to show the overall page or its layout, one full-page image may be more convenient. Choose based on whether readability or having a single-file overview matters more.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does a full-page screenshot include content below the fold?

Yes. Firefox, Chrome, and Edge provide full-page or full-size capture options that include rendered content beyond the visible viewport.

Can I save the result as a PDF instead of an image?

The browser workflows above are image screenshot features. ScreenshotNeo supports PDF output; consult its documentation for the available output parameters.

Can I use this for a private or login-required X page?

A browser capture uses the page available in your browser session. An API request needs its own access to the page; ScreenshotNeo supports custom cookies, headers, and Authorization, but whether a particular protected page can be captured depends on its access requirements.
