A full-page setting captures more of the page; it does not necessarily trigger the scrolling that some pages need before showing all their content.
Why a full-page screenshot can still miss content
A full-page screenshot covers the page’s scrollable area rather than just the visible viewport. But websites may defer loading images or article content until the relevant part of the page approaches the viewport. Some pages use scrolling or IntersectionObserver callbacks to trigger that loading. Capturing the full page does not guarantee those events have occurred.

Playwright describes its full-page option as capturing a full scrollable page. A Playwright feature discussion explains why scroll-dependent content can still be absent and why scrolling before capture may help. Treat that discussion as an explanation of the issue, not as evidence that a proposed new option exists in a released version.

- Open the news article and wait for its initial content to load.
- Scroll down through the article in manageable increments. Pause where needed for images or text to appear, and continue to the end or until the intended article content stops adding. If the page has a “Load more” control, use it when needed.
- Open Firefox’s screenshot tool and choose Save full page. Mozilla documents this option in its Firefox screenshot instructions, last updated June 15, 2026.
- Open the saved image and inspect it from top to bottom. Confirm it reaches the article’s end and look for missing sections, blank image placeholders, or sticky elements that duplicate or obscure content.
This is a practical one-off workflow. The page’s behavior determines whether scrolling has triggered all the content you want, so verify the result rather than assuming it is complete.

Automated method: scroll with Playwright before capture
For repeatable captures, use Playwright’s browser automation. Its Page API documents the fullPage screenshot option; its screenshot guide explains full-page captures. Scroll through the page before calling the screenshot API so scroll-triggered loading has an opportunity to run.

Install Playwright and its Chromium browser in your project, then save the following as capture-article.js. Run it with node capture-article.js, replacing the example URL with the article you need.

})();The 500 ms pause and viewport-sized increments are example choices, not universal requirements. A page may need longer pauses, a different scroll strategy, or interaction with a “Load more” control. The loop stops when the document height no longer grows; that alone does not prove every image or article element has loaded. Inspect the output, and adjust the workflow for the specific page if content is missing.

What to check in the automated capture
- Does the screenshot contain the article’s final section?
- Did any images remain blank or fail to appear?
- Did a sticky header, consent banner, or other fixed element obscure or repeat over the article?
- Did the page add content only after a button click or another action your script does not perform?

Does Playwright’s `fullPage: true` trigger lazy loading by itself?
No. It sets the capture extent; scroll through the page first to give scroll-dependent content a chance to load.

How many pixels should I scroll, or how long should I wait?
There is no universal value. Page implementations differ, so scroll and pause as needed, then inspect the image for missing content.
