You can also sign in at mintmobile.com/login and change the Auto Renewal setting there. Make the change at least 24 hours before the renewal date shown in your account, then confirm that the setting is off. Disabling Auto Renewal stops future automatic renewal only; it does not refund a plan you have already paid for or end that paid term immediately.
What turning off Auto Renewal actually does
Auto Renewal is the setting that authorizes recurring automatic payments for Mint plan fees. Mint’s terms say those payments continue until you cancel Auto Renew. The recurring amount can change if you switch plans or if Mint changes prices after giving notice, so checking the setting and the upcoming date is useful even when your payment method has not changed.

Turning the setting off is not the same as canceling service on the day you tap the switch. Your current prepaid plan remains available for the remainder of its paid term. Mint’s standard plans use 30-day cycles; 12-month plans can use 30- or 31-day cycles, for up to 365 days in total. Auto Renewal controls what happens at the end of that cycle, not the service days you have already purchased.
Check your renewal date before changing anything
Mint displays the renewal date in the app, and its help information says it sends text and email notice 30 days before an automatic renewal. You can also check payment status and the next due date by signing in through the website or app, as described in Mint’s payment-failure and missed-renewal guidance.

- Check whether the Auto Renewal control currently shows on or off.
- Confirm which plan is active and whether you intend to keep service beyond the current term.
- If preserving your phone number matters, decide how you will renew or transfer service before the account can be canceled.
Do this check before making the change so you know which billing event you are trying to prevent. A renewal date in a confirmation email can be less useful than the live date in your account if you recently changed plans or payment details.
Turn off Auto Renewal in the Mint Mobile app
The app is the most precisely documented route. Use the following path:
- Open the Mint Mobile app and sign in.
- Tap Account in the bottom-right corner.
- Scroll to the Payment section.
- Tap Payment method.
- Find the Auto Renewal control and switch it off.
Wait for the control to display its off state before leaving the screen. If the app asks you to confirm the change, complete that confirmation. Take a screenshot showing the off setting and the account’s renewal date if you need a record of when you made the change.

Turn off Auto Renewal from the website
For a browser, go directly to Mint’s account sign-in page and log in. Open the account’s payment or Auto Renewal settings, switch Auto Renewal off, and save or confirm the change if prompted. Mint documents the web account as another place where the Auto Renewal setting can be managed, although its help page gives the more detailed click path for the app rather than a longer fixed sequence of web menus.

- Sign in at mintmobile.com/login.
- Open the payment or billing settings for your wireless account.
- Select the Auto Renewal setting.
- Turn it off and complete any confirmation step.
- Return to the account overview and check the resulting status and renewal date.
If the browser view does not show the setting, try the account page rather than a promotional or checkout page, and check that you are signed in to the correct Mint account. Do not assume that removing a saved card has canceled Auto Renewal; the renewal preference itself must show as disabled.
Meet Mint’s 24-hour cutoff
Mint’s terms require a customer to change Auto Renew preferences or cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the payment cycle for the change to take effect. Mint’s help page describes the same deadline as at least 24 hours before the scheduled Auto Renewal date, and its FAQ answers the question “How do I cancel auto renewal payments?” with that cutoff in mind. Read the current Mint Mobile Terms & Conditions if your account has an unusual billing schedule.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
Act earlier than the minimum whenever possible. A change made shortly before the deadline leaves little time to notice a failed save, an incorrect account, or a renewal date calculated in another time zone. The practical sequence is:
- Identify the date shown in the account.
- Disable Auto Renewal more than 24 hours before that date.
- Refresh the account or sign in again to confirm the off state.
- Keep the confirmation screenshot or email until the date passes.
If you are already inside the 24-hour window, turn the setting off immediately anyway, then contact Mint customer service to ask whether the change can still be applied before processing. The published terms do not promise that a late change will stop a payment.
Verify that the change took effect
A successful tap is not the same as a verified account state. Reopen the payment settings after saving and look for an explicit off status. Check the next due date and payment status from the account page or app, using the checks described in Mint’s payment-status help article.

- Auto Renewal: the control should clearly indicate off, disabled, or an equivalent status.
- Renewal date: note the date even after disabling, because it marks when the prepaid term ends.
- Payment status: look for a pending or completed payment that may have been initiated before you changed the setting.
- Evidence: retain a screenshot, confirmation message, or support reference number.
Do not interpret the absence of a future charge in your bank account as proof that the setting changed. The account control is the authoritative place to verify the preference, while your bank statement only shows what has already been submitted or settled.
What happens when the paid plan expires
You must renew manually to keep uninterrupted service
With Auto Renewal off, you decide whether and when to pay for the next term. If you want continuous Mint service, complete a manual renewal before the current plan expires and check that the payment succeeded. Disabling the automatic setting without arranging that payment can create a service gap.
Expiry leads to suspension, not an instant account deletion
Mint states that if you turn off Auto Renewal and do not manually renew before the plan expires, the account goes into suspension. Suspension is a status after the prepaid term ends; it is not an immediate refund and it does not erase the days remaining in the term you already purchased.
Sixty days of suspension can lead to cancellation
Mint’s terms say that after at least 60 days without a successful plan renewal while the account is suspended, Mint may cancel the account. This is a possible cancellation threshold, not a guarantee that every account is canceled at exactly the 60-day mark. If you intend to return to Mint, do not let the account remain unpaid and suspended while assuming the number will be held indefinitely.
Number retention requires an earlier decision
After service cancellation, Mint may reassign the phone number, and the terms warn that you may be unable to transfer it afterward. Anyone who needs to retain the number should arrange a desired transfer before the account reaches cancellation. The sources do not prescribe a particular port-out sequence, so obtain the current instructions from the receiving provider and Mint before allowing the account to lapse.

Auto Renewal, plan cancellation, and refunds are separate
Turning off renewal does not refund the current plan
Disabling Auto Renewal prevents a future automatic renewal when the change is made before the cutoff. It does not reverse a plan fee that has already been charged, and it does not automatically refund unused days in the current prepaid term. Mint’s terms state that amounts paid are generally not refunded except where required by law or covered by the applicable return policy.
The seven-day rule is limited
Mint’s published return policy allows a full refund and cancellation request within seven calendar days of activation for a qualifying new wireless service activation purchased directly from Mint.com, provided the required refund request form is submitted. Mint’s FAQ indicates that the seven-day guarantee also covers purchases made through its app, while purchases through other sellers can follow different procedures.
That window concerns a qualifying new activation, not every recurring renewal. The purchase channel, activation date, and policy in force when you bought the service determine eligibility. If you think you qualify, use the current return-policy instructions rather than assuming that switching off Auto Renewal is a refund request.

| You are willing to let the service lapse | Disable Auto Renewal and monitor the account through expiration. | After at least 60 days in suspension without renewal, Mint may cancel the account. |

| You need to keep your phone number | Arrange renewal or a desired transfer before any account cancellation. | Mint may reassign the number after cancellation, and transfer may then be impossible. |
| You activated a new line recently and want a refund | Check the seven-calendar-day return rule and submit the required request through Mint’s return policy. | Eligibility depends on activation timing and purchase channel. |
What to do if the setting or charge does not behave as expected
The switch will not stay off
Sign out and back in, reopen the payment settings, and verify the account identifier before trying again. If the control continues to revert or does not provide a confirmation, record the date and time of the attempt and contact Mint. Avoid repeatedly changing unrelated payment details while troubleshooting; the goal is to establish the Auto Renewal state.

Leave Auto Renewal off, capture the account status, and contact support immediately. Mint’s 24-hour rule means a late change may not take effect for the imminent cycle. A renewal payment is pending
Check the payment-status view in the app or website before opening a separate dispute with your bank. A pending transaction may have been initiated before the preference changed. Ask Mint to explain the transaction and the available remedy; do not describe the situation as a refund eligibility decision until the purchase and timing have been reviewed.
You cannot access the account
Use Mint’s sign-in recovery options first. If you still cannot reach the account before the deadline, call Mint customer service at 800-683-7392, which Mint’s terms list for canceling Auto Renew or reviewing payment preferences. Have the account information and the renewal date available so the representative can identify the intended billing cycle.
A practical timeline for avoiding an unwanted renewal
More than 30 days before renewal
Read the renewal date in the account, decide whether you want service to continue, and disable Auto Renewal now if you already know you will not renew automatically. Mint says its advance text and email notice is sent 30 days before renewal, but you do not need to wait for that notice to change the setting.
More than 24 hours before renewal
This is the safest minimum window in Mint’s published terms. Make the change, confirm the off status after refreshing, and save evidence of the account state. If you plan to keep service, schedule a manual renewal before the expiration date rather than relying on memory.
Within 24 hours
Disable the setting immediately and contact support to ask whether the upcoming transaction can still be stopped. Monitor the account and payment method for a pending charge. The deadline is measured against the payment cycle or scheduled renewal, so an exact account date matters more than a generic calendar reminder.
After the renewal date
Check whether the payment succeeded, whether service is active or suspended, and which date the account lists next. If a payment was taken, Auto Renewal can still be turned off for later cycles, but the already-processed payment must be handled under Mint’s terms and return policy rather than by the switch alone.
Bottom line
Use Account > Payment > Payment method > Auto Renewal in the Mint Mobile app, or the Auto Renewal control after signing in on the web. Make the change at least 24 hours before the listed renewal date and verify that the setting is off. Your prepaid service remains active through its paid term; if you do not manually renew, Mint says the account enters suspension and may be canceled after at least 60 days without a successful renewal. Treat refunds separately, and contact Mint at 800-683-7392 when the deadline is close or a charge has already appeared.
