Cancel an Apple TV+ trial at least 24 hours before it ends if you do not want it to renew. The correct cancellation screen depends on who bills you: Apple-billed subscriptions are canceled through Apple Account settings or tv.apple.com, while subscriptions billed by Google Play or Amazon must be canceled with that provider. A cancellation stops future renewal, but it does not automatically guarantee a refund for a charge that has already posted.
Start by checking your receipt or payment statement to identify the billing company, then follow the matching route below. These instructions are based on Apple’s current support guidance; labels and procedures can vary by country or region.

First, identify the billing company
Apple TV+ can appear in the Apple TV app even when another company handles payment. The company that bills your account controls cancellation, so opening Apple’s subscription list will not always show a subscription billed through Google Play, Amazon, a mobile carrier, or another partner.

Apple’s general cancellation instructions explain how to use receipts and billing records to locate the right account or provider: Apple Support: Cancel a subscription from Apple. If you are still in the trial period, do not wait until the final day; Apple specifically says a trial should be canceled at least 24 hours before it ends.

Cancel an Apple-billed subscription on an iPhone or iPad
This is the quickest route when Apple charges your payment method directly.
- Open Settings.
- Tap your name at the top to open your Apple Account.
- Tap Subscriptions.
- Select the Apple TV+ subscription.
- Tap Cancel Subscription and confirm the cancellation.
Apple’s instructions are documented at support.apple.com/en-us/118428. The account shown at the top of Settings must be the account that owns the subscription. If you use more than one Apple Account, repeat the check with each account rather than assuming the currently signed-in account is the one being billed.
What the screen tells you after cancellation
If there is no Cancel Subscription button, or the page displays an expiration message, Apple says the subscription is already canceled. Save a screenshot of that status if you need a record for your own accounts or support conversation.
Cancel through Apple TV on the web
Apple provides an Apple TV-specific web route that is useful when you do not have the iPhone or iPad used to start the subscription. The support page describing this path is Apple’s Apple TV subscription cancellation guidance. The page is regional, so wording can differ from the language displayed in your account.
- Go to tv.apple.com.
- Sign in if the site asks you to do so.
- Open the account menu.
- Choose Settings.
- Find Subscriptions and choose Manage.
- Select the Apple TV+ subscription and choose the cancellation option.
- Confirm when prompted.
Use the same Apple Account that appears on the Apple receipt. If the subscription does not appear, stop trying random accounts and follow the missing-subscription checks later in this guide.

Other Apple devices and account settings
Apple’s general instructions also cover subscription management from a Mac, Windows PC, or Android device. The exact controls vary with the operating system and the way the subscription was purchased, but the principle is the same: sign in to the Apple Account that was charged, open its subscription settings, select Apple TV+, and choose the cancellation command. Apple maintains the current device-specific paths at support.apple.com/en-us/118428.
Do not confuse access to the Apple TV app with ownership of the subscription. Installing the app, signing out of a device, deleting the app, or turning off notifications does not cancel billing. Cancellation must be recorded in the account or provider that processes the payment.

Cancel an Apple TV+ subscription billed through Google Play
If Google Play appears on your receipt or card statement, Apple cannot cancel the subscription for you. Apple’s Apple TV guidance directs Google Play customers to cancel through the Google Play app or website associated with the subscription: Apple Support’s provider-specific instructions.
- Open the Google Play app or the Google Play website.
- Sign in with the Google account that is being charged.
- Open the subscriptions area.
- Select the Apple TV+ subscription.
- Choose the cancellation command and complete the confirmation screens.
If several Google accounts are signed in on the same phone or browser, check each account. A subscription will not appear in the wrong Google account’s subscription list. Keep the confirmation page or email until you have verified that the renewal is no longer scheduled.
Cancel a subscription billed through Amazon
When Amazon is the merchant on your receipt or statement, use Amazon’s subscription controls rather than Apple’s Settings screen or the Apple TV website. Apple’s provider guidance directs Amazon-billed customers to cancel through Amazon: Apple Support.

- Sign in to the Amazon account that made the subscription purchase.
- Open the account area that lists memberships, subscriptions, or digital-content subscriptions.
- Locate the Apple TV+ subscription.
- Select the available cancellation option and confirm.
Amazon account menus can vary by country and by whether the subscription was started on the web, a device, or through a channel package. If Apple TV+ is absent, verify the merchant name on your payment record and make sure you are using the purchasing Amazon account.
When Apple TV+ is missing from your subscriptions
A missing entry usually means the wrong Apple Account is open, another person owns the subscription, or a different company is billing it. Work through these checks in order.
Search for the original receipt
Search your email for an Apple receipt or invoice. Apple says the receipt identifies the Apple Account associated with the purchase. Sign in with that account and check its subscription settings. Search all inboxes you control, including an older address that may have been used when the trial began.
Check family members’ accounts
If the receipt belongs to a family member, that account holder must cancel the subscription. Being part of a Family Sharing group does not give every member the ability to cancel another person’s purchase. Ask the purchaser to follow the relevant Apple, Google Play, or Amazon steps.
Use the payment statement when there is no Apple receipt
If no Apple receipt exists, inspect the bank or card statement for the merchant name. The statement can show that Google Play, Amazon, a carrier, or another provider is responsible. Check for a different purchase channel
A subscription started inside a television provider, mobile carrier, or other bundle may not be managed as a direct Apple subscription. The provider named on the receipt is the reliable indicator. Do not cancel a different subscription merely because it has a similar name.

Canceling prevents a future renewal; it does not by itself establish that an earlier payment will be refunded. Apple says App Store and iTunes Store purchases may be eligible for review through its billing support process. Submit a request through Apple’s Subscriptions and Billing support hub and let Apple assess the transaction.
A refund request is separate from cancellation. Include the charged Apple Account, the transaction date, and the receipt information requested by Apple. Do not assume that submitting a request guarantees approval, and do not keep retrying cancellation as a substitute for a refund request.
Country and regional differences
Apple notes that cancellation procedures can vary by country or region. Its general support article identifies Germany, Israel, South Africa, and Türkiye as locations with special circumstances, but the general page does not spell out every regional rule. Readers in those countries should open the regional Apple instructions linked from Apple’s cancellation article and follow the terms shown for their storefront.

How to verify that renewal is stopped
After you complete the cancellation, verify the result in the same system that processed the payment.
- Apple billing: Reopen the Apple TV+ entry in Settings > your name > Subscriptions, or check tv.apple.com > account menu > Settings > Subscriptions > Manage. An expiration message or the absence of a cancellation button indicates that Apple considers it canceled.
- Google Play billing: Reopen the subscription in the Google Play account that was charged and look for its canceled or expiration status.
- Amazon billing: Reopen the subscription in the Amazon account that purchased it and confirm that the renewal setting has changed.
- Any provider: Keep the confirmation email, receipt, or screenshot and compare the account name with the original payment record.
Do not rely only on the Apple TV app continuing to show the service. App access and billing status are separate signals; the provider’s subscription record is the authoritative one for renewal.
Common problems and the right fix
There is no Cancel button
Apple says this can mean the subscription is already canceled, especially when an expiration message is displayed. Confirm the account and read the status carefully before taking further action.
The trial ends today
Apple’s stated deadline is at least 24 hours before the trial ends. If less time remains, cancel immediately through the correct billing provider and save the confirmation. Whether a renewal has already entered processing depends on the provider’s billing system; cancellation is not a promise that a pending charge will be reversed.
The subscription appears active after cancellation
Check that you canceled the same account and provider that issued the receipt. A delay in an app’s display does not override the provider’s subscription record. Sign out and back in only after checking the account details; repeatedly changing devices will not move the subscription to another account.
You canceled but received another charge
Compare the charge date with the cancellation confirmation and identify the merchant. If Apple processed the payment, use the Subscriptions and Billing refund-request route for Apple to review. If Google Play, Amazon, a carrier, or another company processed it, use that company’s billing support instead.
You cannot access the purchasing account
Recover the Apple Account, Google account, or Amazon account that appears on the receipt before attempting cancellation. If the charge belongs to another household member, that person must sign in and cancel. A device passcode or access to the Apple TV app is not a substitute for the purchasing account’s credentials.
