Find the livestream’s ad revenue in YouTube Studio

Open YouTube Studio and select Analytics.

Choose the individual livestream and the date range you want to measure. Make sure the selected period matches the question you are answering.

In Analytics, use the Live filter and the revenue breakdown to locate estimated ad revenue. YouTube says live-stream ad revenue is available in Analytics with the Live filter selected: YouTube Help: Monetize your live stream.

Record the amount and currency, the date range, and the view count for that same stream and scope. Note whether your view count includes replay views after the broadcast.

Use estimated ad revenue when you want an ad-only figure. Estimated revenue is broader and can include other YouTube revenue sources, such as memberships, YouTube Premium, and Super Chat. If your goal is to report all applicable YouTube revenue rather than ads alone, use the broader metric and label it accordingly. See YouTube Help: Understand ad revenue analytics.
Convert the reported amount to rupees
If the stream’s estimated ad revenue is already displayed in INR, use that value for the selected reporting period. If it is displayed in another currency, convert the stream-level amount with an exchange rate from a source you name, and state the rate’s date and the calculation date. Keep the original amount and currency alongside the converted result so readers can distinguish YouTube’s report from your conversion.

The YouTube Analytics API documentation says estimated revenue is reported in USD by default and supports a currency parameter for some estimated revenue and ad-performance metrics. That does not mean every Studio view or every metric can be switched to INR. Check the currency actually shown for your report rather than assuming it is configurable: YouTube Analytics and Reporting APIs: Metrics.

Calculate ad earnings per 1,000 views
For an ad-only rate, use this formula:
Ad earnings per 1,000 views (INR) = (estimated ad revenue in INR ÷ the same stream’s views) × 1,000

For example, if a report showed ₹600 in estimated ad revenue and 20,000 views for the same stream and reporting scope, the calculation would be (₹600 ÷ 20,000) × 1,000 = ₹30 per 1,000 views. This is an example of the arithmetic, not a typical or guaranteed Indian livestream rate.
Keep the numerator and denominator aligned: use the same stream, date range, currency, and view scope. If the revenue covers a livestream and its replay, use a view count that also includes that replay period; if you are measuring live views only, make sure the revenue figure represents the same scope where available. Label the result as an ad-only calculated rate per 1,000 views. YouTube’s standard RPM is broader and can combine ads with Premium, memberships, Super Chat, and Super Stickers, so an ad-only calculation should not be presented as unqualified RPM.

Do not confuse creator earnings with CPM

YouTube notes that views commonly exceed monetized playbacks because many views do not receive an ad; one playback may also produce multiple ad impressions. CPM varies with factors including viewer geography, time of year, and ad-format mix. Definitions are in YouTube’s ad revenue analytics guidance and the Analytics API metric definitions.
Why livestream views do not all earn ad revenue
Having a view does not guarantee that an ad was shown. Ad delivery depends on factors such as available ad inventory, viewer geography, ad targeting, Premium status, monetization settings, and other conditions. YouTube’s live-stream guidance is explicit: “Ad slots are not guaranteed to serve ads.”

When monetization is enabled on a live stream, pre-roll and display ads are automatically turned on; mid-rolls can be automatic or manual. Automatic mid-roll frequency can be set to low, medium, or high. These settings affect the opportunity for ads to serve, not a guaranteed income per view. YouTube reported an over 20% average uplift in in-stream ad revenue per hour among channels that enabled automatic live mid-roll ads compared with channels that did not, averaged across 207 countries in January 2024. Check monetization eligibility
To earn Watch Page ad and YouTube Premium revenue from livestreams, YouTube requires YPP participation and acceptance of the Watch Page Monetization Module. Confirm eligibility and module status before interpreting a low or zero ad-revenue figure as a calculation problem. YouTube outlines the requirement in Choose how you want to monetize.
An ad-only total should not silently include Super Chats, Super Stickers, memberships, Premium allocation, sponsorships, affiliate earnings, or merchandise. Some platform sources can be included in broader YouTube revenue measures; sponsorships and other indirect income are not part of RPM as YouTube defines it.

Compare two livestreams fairly
- Match dates and currency: compare the same reporting duration and convert amounts with the same documented exchange-rate approach if needed.
- Keep the scope consistent: use stream-specific estimated ad revenue for both, not ad revenue for one and total estimated revenue for the other.
- Align views: compare live-only counts with live-only counts, or replay-inclusive counts with replay-inclusive counts.
- Explain the context: viewer geography, seasonality, ad formats, monetization settings, and the share of views that became monetized playbacks can all affect the result.
There is no official fixed rupee-per-view or India-wide livestream ad rate established by these YouTube sources. A creator’s own stream analytics is the appropriate basis for a channel-specific estimate; an unsupported benchmark cannot tell you what your next stream will earn.
