To estimate your Super Chat earnings, take the Super Chat revenue Google confirms after applicable local sales tax and iOS App Store fees, then multiply by 70%: Creator share = (confirmed revenue − applicable local sales tax − applicable iOS App Store fee) × 0.70. YouTube currently covers transaction costs such as credit-card fees, so do not subtract them again. This estimates your share before any creator-specific tax withholding or payment requirements.
Calculate your share in three steps
- Start with revenue confirmed by Google. Do not assume the amount a viewer sees or pays is automatically the revenue base for your share.
- Subtract applicable local sales tax and iOS App Store fees. The iOS fee applies when relevant; YouTube’s stated formula accounts for it before the creator share.
- Multiply the remainder by 0.70. YouTube says creators receive 70% of Supers revenue confirmed by Google after those applicable deductions. See YouTube’s Super Chat and Super Stickers revenue-share guidance.
Example: If confirmed revenue after applicable sales-tax and iOS deductions is $100, the estimated creator share is $100 × 0.70 = $70. This is an arithmetic example, not a typical-purchase estimate or a promise of final after-tax payment.
What “70%” includes—and what it does not
The 70% figure is not necessarily 70% of the viewer’s displayed purchase amount. YouTube defines it against Supers revenue confirmed by Google, after applicable local sales tax and iOS App Store fees. YouTube currently covers transaction costs, including credit-card fees, rather than passing those costs through as an extra subtraction in this calculation. The partner earnings overview also describes a 70% share of net revenue for channel memberships, Super Chat, Super Stickers, and Super Thanks under the Commerce Product Module, and says transaction taxes such as sales tax, VAT, and GST are not revenue to Google for revenue-share calculations.
Your channel’s applicable terms matter. YouTube directs creators to check their agreements in YouTube Studio for specific revenue-share details; the general percentage should not be treated as a guarantee of a particular payout.

Keep the estimate separate from your final payment
The formula estimates the platform revenue share, not final take-home income. Google may withhold taxes on earnings from U.S. viewers, including Super Chat, depending on your tax information and circumstances. Tax withholding is distinct from the 70% share calculation. Payment timing can also depend on tax and identity verification, selecting a payment method, and meeting the applicable payment threshold. Where to check eligibility and reported Supers revenue
Super Chat and Super Stickers are available to eligible creators who meet YouTube’s feature requirements. YouTube’s monetization guidance includes being at least 18, living in a country or region where the feature is available, and accepting the Commerce Product Module or the formerly available Commerce Product Addendum. Availability and the terms applicable to a particular channel can change, so check YouTube Studio and YouTube’s monetization guidance.
