To buy Wi-Fi on a United flight, connect to the onboard Wi-Fi network, open its portal, and choose Purchase internet for this flight. Check the price and terms shown for your flight before checkout: United’s portal does not provide a stable universal fare.
Buy a Wi-Fi session on your flight
- Connect to the onboard network. After boarding, join the United Wi-Fi network from your phone, tablet, or laptop.
- Open the portal. It may appear automatically. If it does not, open a browser and follow the onboard connection prompt.
- Choose a purchase option. Select “Purchase internet for this flight” for a one-flight session. The portal also offers a separate route to purchase a subscription; the wording or layout may vary.
- Review the offer and check out. Confirm the displayed price, coverage, and terms in the portal, then complete payment there. The price is flight-specific; no universal amount is established.
Check for free access before paying
The portal distinguishes full internet from other onboard access. Messaging, entertainment, and partner sites may be free, but free messaging or entertainment does not necessarily include general web browsing. Offerings can vary by flight.

United says Starlink Wi-Fi is free for MileagePlus members on aircraft equipped with the service. That benefit is not a guarantee that a particular flight has Starlink. United’s fourth-quarter and full-year 2025 results release reported Starlink on nearly all of its dual-cabin United Express fleet—more than 300 aircraft—and said mainline installations had begun, with installation expected to accelerate during 2026. That release describes its status and outlook when published, not the equipment on your flight. Check the onboard portal and your MileagePlus account status.

If you have a Wi-Fi subscription but the portal does not recognize it, check whether the subscription is linked to the MileagePlus account. The portal provides separate options to buy a session or a subscription.

What to do if paid Wi-Fi does not work
Keep your receipt. United says passengers may be eligible to request a refund for a service they paid for but did not receive; eligibility depends on the circumstances. The provider listed on the receipt determines where to submit the request:
- For receipts showing Panasonic, Thales, or Viasat, use United’s refund form.
- For Intelstat or Gogo, contact the provider as directed by United.
United states that subscriptions are nonrefundable, though existing Wi-Fi subscription holders may qualify for a partial refund after a service disruption.
