How to Buy Skydance Stock (NYSE: SKYD) and What to Check Before Investing

Skydance Corporation’s publicly traded Class B common stock trades on the New York Stock Exchange under SKYD. To buy it, use a brokerage account that supports U.S. exchange-listed shares, search for SKYD, and verify the issuer, share class, and exchange in the quote details before entering an order. The former ticker, PSKY, is stale for the common stock after the October 6, 2026 move to the NYSE.

The ticker is the easy part. Skydance has just completed a major acquisition, issued substantial secured debt, and disclosed a planned warrant distribution that could materially increase the share count. Its Class B shares are nonvoting, and management’s synergy, cash-flow, and leverage goals are targets—not achieved results. Check current company notices and SEC filings before trading because the transaction, warrant, quote, and share-count details can change.

What stock can you buy, and what is the ticker?

The current public security is Skydance Corporation Class B common stock, NYSE: SKYD. The company transferred its Class B shares from Nasdaq to the New York Stock Exchange on October 6, 2026, changing the ticker from PSKY to SKYD. Confirm all three details—issuer, Class B share class, and NYSE venue—in your brokerage’s quote screen. Search results, saved watchlists, and older articles may still display PSKY or Nasdaq information.

Skydance Corporation is not the same thing as the former private Skydance Media entity. Skydance Media merged with Paramount Global in August 2025, creating the publicly traded successor then called Paramount Skydance Corporation. That successor later changed its name to Skydance Corporation and acquired Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD). The corporate history matters because older references may describe a private company, the former issuer name, or securities that are no longer the current listed common stock.

In this article, “Skydance stock” means the listed Class B common shares. Warrants associated with the company are a separate security with different terms and risks; they are not shares and do not automatically give their holder the rights of a shareholder.

How to buy SKYD through a brokerage

Brokerage interfaces and account rules vary, but the basic process is similar. This is general process information, not a recommendation to buy or a view on what price is appropriate.

  1. Use an account that can trade U.S. listed stocks. Sign in to an existing brokerage account or open one with a provider that supports NYSE-listed securities. Account eligibility, identity checks, funding methods, commissions, and other fees depend on the provider and your location.
  2. Search for SKYD and verify the instrument. Open the security details, not just the search result. Confirm that the name is Skydance Corporation, the security is Class B common stock, and the listing venue is NYSE. Do not place an order based only on an old PSKY result, a company-name match, or an unsourced quote page.
  3. Review the live quote and order ticket. Check the displayed bid, ask, last trade, market status, currency, and any broker-specific order warnings. Quotes can be delayed depending on the service and subscription. A quote of $9.50 cited in Skydance’s October 2026 prospectus supplement was the last reported Nasdaq sale price on October 2; it is historical, not a current NYSE quote or a valuation guide.
  4. Choose an order type and quantity deliberately. A market order prioritizes execution but does not set the price at which it will fill. A limit order sets a maximum purchase price, but it may not execute. Consider the spread, volatility, market hours, and your own plan before choosing. Order availability and behavior depend on the broker.
  5. Review the final details before submitting. Check that the ticket still identifies SKYD, that the quantity and order type are correct, and that any estimated cost, time-in-force, or special instruction matches your intention. After submission, review the order status and later confirm the completed transaction in your account.

Do not assume that buying SKYD after a record date entitles you to a distribution associated with that date. In particular, the announced warrant distribution has specific eligibility, exclusion, and handling terms that differ from an ordinary stock purchase. See the warrant section below and verify current issuer or exchange notices.

Why SKYD is an unusually event-sensitive investment

On October 6, 2026, Skydance announced that it had completed its acquisition of WBD. WBD shares ceased trading, and under the transaction terms WBD shareholders received cash consideration of $31.01666668 per WBD share. The combined company now brings together studios, streaming services, television assets, news, sports, content libraries, and franchises. Those broad business descriptions come from the issuer; they do not establish how profitable the assets will be together.

A major acquisition can change a company’s scale and prospects, but it also introduces practical questions for a shareholder: how much debt supports the transaction, how much cash the businesses generate, what it costs to integrate them, whether customers and advertisers stay, and whether creative talent and valuable content remain available. The acquisition’s completion is a fact; the expected benefits are uncertain.

Management’s plans are targets, not reported outcomes

In its October 6 announcement, Skydance described plans to release at least 30 theatrical films a year, maintain a minimum 45-day theatrical window, and operate more than 180 television shows or series. It also set a target of at least $6 billion in run-rate synergies within three years, said the combined company expects more than $10 billion in free cash flow by 2030, and targeted a reduction in net leverage to 3.0x by the end of 2029.

These are forward-looking management statements, not results already delivered or guarantees. The company’s announcement warns that expected synergies, financial goals, integration, and leverage targets may not be achieved on schedule or at all. As later results become available, compare what the company reports with its targets, and look for the costs and assumptions behind the headline figures.

Debt and cash generation deserve close attention

Skydance’s October 6, 2026 SEC Form 8-K reported that the company issued senior secured notes on October 5: $41.4 billion in U.S.-dollar notes, consisting of $30.0 billion of first-lien notes and $11.4 billion of second-lien notes, plus €885 million of second-lien notes. These are acquisition-financing figures, not a complete statement of the company’s total debt or net leverage.

Debt can affect the equity even when the underlying businesses remain valuable. Interest expense and required principal payments compete with spending on content, technology, integration, and other needs. A business with significant debt may also have less flexibility if cash generation falls short, refinancing becomes more expensive, or operating plans take longer than expected.

When reviewing subsequent filings, look beyond a single debt total. Check total debt and cash, interest expense, maturity dates, covenants, refinancing needs, free cash flow, and whether reported cash flow reflects recurring operations or one-time items. Compare those figures over time. The announced note issuance makes leverage and cash generation central questions, but the available transaction figures alone do not establish a current valuation or whether the shares are attractive.

Understand the warrant distribution and possible dilution

Skydance’s SEC prospectus supplement described a planned distribution of one transferable warrant for each eligible Class B share held of record on October 5, 2026. The issuer’s October 6 supplemental FAQ listed October 13 as the issue date and October 14 as the ex-dividend date. Those dates are at or just after the information date for this article; confirm the distribution’s actual status, settlement, trading symbol, and any changed dates in a current company or NYSE notice.

The issuer said eligible holders needed to hold through the issue date to receive warrants, while the prospectus described exclusions for specified restricted holders and certain plans and trusts. A share purchase made after the record date should not be assumed to qualify. If shares are held through a brokerage nominee, ask the broker how it handles eligibility, allocation, and any fractional or rounded entitlements; the practical treatment can depend on the account and the governing terms.

What one warrant represents

Each warrant initially allows its holder to purchase one Class B share for $12, subject to anti-dilution adjustments and the full warrant agreement. The warrants are transferable and were expected to trade separately under the symbol SKYDW. The prospectus described an expected 10-year term, with possible earlier expiration under specified conditions. Confirm the operative terms rather than relying on a summary, and do not assume that a separate market will be orderly or liquid.

A warrant is an option under its terms, not a share already owned. A holder may exercise, sell, transfer, or allow it to expire, subject to the agreement. Warrant holders generally do not have Class B shareholder voting or dividend rights unless and until they acquire shares through exercise. The $12 exercise price is also not a promise that a share will be worth more than $12; the market price, remaining term, liquidity, adjustments, and other conditions matter.

How exercise could change the share count

Skydance’s prospectus supplement reported 1,093,020,754 Class B shares outstanding as of October 2, 2026. It said up to 471.3 million warrants could be issued. The supplement estimated that full physical exercise of the registered warrants would raise that October 2 share count to 1,564,320,754, before the PIPE transaction. On those stated figures, full exercise would add about 43% to the October 2 share count; measured against the resulting total, the new shares would be about 30%. These are arithmetic illustrations based on the prospectus figures, not a forecast that every warrant will be exercised.

If every one of approximately 471 million warrants were exercised for cash at $12, the issuer estimated potential gross proceeds of approximately $5.7 billion. That is an assumption-based estimate, not cash already received: actual proceeds depend on exercise levels, settlement form, and costs. Check later filings for the current share count and the effects of the PIPE transaction and any other equity changes.

For an existing shareholder who does not exercise, issuance of shares to exercising warrant holders can reduce the shareholder’s percentage ownership. That dilution depends on how many warrants are exercised and on other share changes. It is not appropriate to treat the maximum exercise scenario as certain, but it is too important to ignore when assessing per-share ownership or comparing market capitalization figures.

Voting rights, control, and governance

The Class B shares described in Skydance’s disclosures are nonvoting. The company also disclosed concentrated ownership and controlled-company status, including exemptions from certain NYSE governance requirements. As a result, buying public Class B shares does not necessarily give an investor meaningful influence over corporate decisions.

Before investing, read the current charter, governance disclosures, and risk factors to understand what rights attach to the class you are buying and who controls voting power. Do not infer governance rights from the phrase “common stock” alone. The class name and company’s status should be checked in current filings, particularly if the capital structure or control arrangements change.

A due-diligence checklist before placing an order

  • Confirm the security. Verify SKYD, Skydance Corporation, Class B common stock, and NYSE on a current broker quote or official listing information. Treat PSKY references as historical unless a current source establishes otherwise.
  • Refresh transaction and warrant notices. Confirm the WBD acquisition’s completed status and the actual warrant distribution, eligibility, date, symbol, terms, and trading status. Review current share count and any subsequent equity issuance.
  • Read current filings, not just headlines. Use Skydance’s investor-relations materials to locate SEC filings, earnings releases, and shareholder resources. Start with the October 6, 2026 Form 8-K and prospectus supplement, then review newer filings for updates.
  • Track debt against cash generation. Review debt balances, interest burden, maturities, covenants, cash, and recurring free cash flow. Ask whether the operating businesses can fund investment and debt service while integration proceeds.
  • Test synergy claims against results. Follow integration spending, restructuring or impairment charges, retention of creative talent, content investment, streaming economics, advertising, and distribution. Compare realized performance with the announced targets instead of assuming the targets will be met.
  • Assess dilution and control. Consider both the possible warrant-related increase in shares and the limited voting rights of the Class B stock. A low share price alone does not tell you whether a security is inexpensive.
  • Build a valuation from current data. Compare the share price and market value with reported revenue, operating performance, debt, cash generation, and a suitable set of peers. The October 2 historical price is not a current quote, and the cited materials do not establish a suitable valuation or price target.
  • Match the risk to your own horizon. Consider whether you can tolerate acquisition integration risk, leverage, uncertain targets, dilution, and limited shareholder influence. A concentrated or short-term position can behave differently from an investment held through multiple reporting periods.

Where to find reliable updates

Use Skydance Corporation’s investor-relations page to find its current filings, earnings materials, and shareholder resources, and use SEC filings for the formal disclosures. For trading status and quote details, confirm the current instrument with your broker or exchange information rather than relying on an old search result. The issuer’s own operating plans and forward-looking statements should be read as management’s claims; compare them with subsequent reported results and risks.

The issuer’s October 6 announcement quoted Chairman and CEO David Ellison calling the acquisition a “historic day” for Skydance and the industry, and saying the company’s focus was building a company that “rewards shareholders.” Those are management’s promotional statements, not independent evidence of future performance. The same SEC-filed announcement cautioned readers not to rely on its forward-looking statements.
