To apply for a Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) IPO, check the live prospectus, confirm the offer is open and that you meet its eligibility rules, then submit and pay through a channel specified for that offer. PSX’s e-IPO system supports direct, broker and bank routes; some offers also use CDC’s Centralized e-IPO System (CES). A brokerage account is not always required to subscribe, but may be needed to trade shares after listing.
1. Find an IPO that is currently open
Start with PSX’s investor resources and the issuer’s current offer documents. Confirm the public subscription dates and use the instructions for that specific IPO. Dates, participating banks and payment options in an older IPO guide may no longer apply.

2. Read the prospectus before deciding
Check the prospectus or abridged prospectus for the offer terms and the issuer’s disclosures. PSX advises prospective investors to examine the offer documents and issuer details, including financial statements, risks, litigation and promoters.
- Issuer and use of proceeds: Understand what business is raising funds and what the issuer says the money will finance.
- Financial condition and risks: Review the financial statements, risk factors, any disclosed defaults or litigation, and promoter background.
- Offer mechanics: Check the price, number of shares, eligibility, application limits, subscription dates and allotment method. If the offer has separate book-building and general-public portions, confirm which portion you can apply for.
- After listing: Consider whether your investment rationale still holds if the share price does not rise immediately.
Equity investing can result in losses. A PSX-hosted prospectus warns: “INVESTMENT IN EQUITY SECURITIES INVOLVES A DEGREE OF RISK AND INVESTORS SHOULD NOT INVEST ANY FUNDS IN THIS OFFER UNLESS THEY CAN AFFORD TO TAKE THE RISK OF LOSING THEIR INVESTMENT.” Treat this as a risk warning, not a prediction about a particular IPO.

3. Check what account access the offer requires
PSX’s e-IPO system says only registered investors may file an application. It offers routes to apply directly, through a TREC holder with whom you have a sub-account, or through a bank where you hold an account. The applicable offer documents and current system instructions determine which route and accounts are available.
A brokerage account is not necessarily a prerequisite for IPO subscription. For example, the PSX Interloop IPO guide said a CDC investor account or sub-account was sufficient for that particular offer. That historical example does not establish the requirements for another IPO. A licensed brokerage account is relevant if you want to trade shares after they are listed; check that a broker is an active PSX-recognized TREC holder licensed by SECP, as advised in the PSX Investor Awareness Guide.

4. Submit the application through an official channel
Use only a submission route identified for the live offer. PSX e-IPO says applications can be filed 24 hours a day during the general public subscription period. CDC CES may also be available for offers that enable it. The issuer’s prospectus or current official instructions should identify the applicable channel.
- Open the specified system or bank route. For PSX e-IPO, use the system’s current instructions and select the route that matches your registration and account access.
- Enter the offer and application details. Follow the offer-specific eligibility, share limits and other instructions shown in the prospectus and application flow.
- Pay using an enabled method. PSX e-IPO lists 1Link and NIFT. The 1Link route supports enabled channels such as ATM, internet or mobile banking, mobile wallets and over-the-counter services. NIFT redirects to its ePay page for required bank and identity details. Availability depends on the current offer and on-screen instructions.
- Save the confirmations. Retain your application and payment confirmations so you can refer to them when checking the result.
5. Check allotment, refunds and share credit
After the offer closes, use the official system or instructions in the prospectus to check allotment, any refund and how allocated shares will be credited. These arrangements vary by offer. Applying does not guarantee an allocation, and an allocation does not guarantee that the share price will rise after listing.

Applying through a Roshan Digital Account
A PSX notice dated March 13, 2026 describes IPO or offer participation through a Roshan Digital Account (RDA) for a non-resident individual Pakistani. It says the RDA should be linked to an active CDC Investor Account and describes registration through CDC’s e-Services portal, followed by the offer-specific subscription and payment process. Because these operational steps can change, check the current PSX notice and the latest instructions from the relevant bank and CDC before applying.

Before you submit: a short checklist
- The offer is open, and you have checked its current prospectus.
- You understand the issuer, use of proceeds, disclosed financial condition and risks.
- You meet the offer’s eligibility rules and application limits.
- You have confirmed the required registration, account access, submission route and payment method.
- You know how the offer will communicate allotment, refunds and share credit.
- Your decision does not depend on an immediate post-listing price increase. PSX’s Investor Dos & Don’ts says: “Do not bank on the price of the shares of the issuer company going up in the short run.”
