Use the collection page, not a copied product image
A genuine-looking image can be copied by any seller. On Rockstar’s site, check that the product appears in the linked store collection, open the product page, and read the displayed title, description, size or format information, availability, shipping terms, and return policy. Search using both names

2. Read recent feedback, not just the average score
Look for comments about merchandise accuracy, counterfeit concerns, delivery, refunds, and communication. Give more weight to recent, detailed comments than to an aggregate star number. If buyers report stock photos, missing tags, materially different products, or refusal to refund, treat those as warning signs.

3. Demand listing-specific evidence
Prefer several photographs of the actual item, including front, back, labels, packaging, and any printed or embroidered details. Stock photography can show what a seller claims to offer but not what will be shipped. Ask the seller for a particular angle or detail if the listing is unclear, and keep the response in writing. The Federal Trade Commission’s marketplace guidance also advises contacting the seller when you have questions about an item.
4. Match the description to the item
Read every condition term. Words such as “used,” “vintage,” “refurbished,” “replica,” “inspired,” “fan-made,” “as is,” or “no returns” change what you are buying. A vintage promotional item may be genuine but not the current GTA VI product shown in Rockstar’s catalog. A fan-made shirt may use artwork without being an official Rockstar product.
5. Compare the complete price
Compare the marketplace total with the official store’s current price, shipping, taxes, and any known preorder terms. Pay through the marketplace’s own checkout or another method that provides buyer protections, such as a credit card or a secure payment system with a documented dispute process. Do not move the transaction to a private bank transfer, gift card, cryptocurrency payment, or another method that is difficult to reverse. A padlock or encrypted connection protects data in transit; it does not prove that the retailer, seller, or merchandise is legitimate.

Compare two listings before choosing one
When two sellers appear to offer the same Macca the Gator tee, cap, collector’s box, or other design, use a side-by-side record. This prevents a persuasive photo or headline from deciding the purchase for you.

A listing that performs well on every row is less risky, but it is still not authenticated unless Rockstar or an identified licensed seller confirms it. Generic marketplace checks cannot create a Rockstar-specific certificate of authenticity.
Warning signs that should stop the purchase
- The seller refuses to identify the business, provide contact information, or answer basic questions.

- Reviews are repetitive, very recent, or describe a different product from the one pictured.
- The listing claims a serial number, hologram, authorized-reseller status, or exclusive certification that Rockstar’s public materials do not document.
- The product name is close to, but not the same as, the official title, and the seller avoids showing the design details that would allow comparison.
None of these signs alone proves that an item is counterfeit. Together they indicate that the transaction may not be worth the risk, especially when the seller will not answer questions in writing.
What Rockstar’s public pages do—and do not—confirm
The official pages establish which GTA VI products Rockstar currently lists and provide the store’s live product information. They do not publish a universal authentication checklist for resale items. - The full listing URL, seller name, item title, photographs, condition statement, and displayed price.
- The shipping charge, tax estimate, delivery promise, return window, and refund conditions.
- Questions you sent and the seller’s replies, especially answers about authenticity, condition, and fulfillment.
- The order confirmation, payment receipt, tracking number, and delivery date.
- Photographs of the unopened package, shipping label, product, labels, print quality, and any mismatch with the listing.
Do not edit the saved images or messages. Keep the originals and note dates. If a platform has a claim deadline, record it immediately instead of waiting for the seller’s response.

- Stop using the item. Keep the product, packaging, labels, and shipping materials in the condition in which you received them. Do not wash, alter, or discard a shirt while a claim is pending.
- Contact the seller promptly. Describe the specific mismatch, attach clear photographs, and request the remedy allowed by the listing and marketplace policy. Keep the conversation inside the platform when possible.
- Escalate to the marketplace. If the seller does not respond, refuses the stated remedy, or asks you to close the claim first, use the platform’s buyer-protection or item-not-as-described process before its deadline.
- Contact the payment provider. If the marketplace does not resolve the issue, follow your card issuer’s or secure payment system’s dispute procedure. Provide the listing, receipt, messages, photographs, and delivery record.
- Report suspected dishonest conduct. U.S. shoppers can report suspected scams or deceptive business practices to the Federal Trade Commission through ReportFraud.ftc.gov. Other countries have their own consumer-protection and payment-dispute authorities.
A dispute is not an automatic finding that the item is counterfeit. Explain the observable facts: the seller sent a different design, the product was described as official but arrived marked as a replica, the package never arrived, or the seller violated the posted return terms.
Regional, preorder, and product-format considerations
Regional storefronts
Rockstar Store inventory and shipping eligibility can differ by country or region. A product visible in one storefront may be unavailable where you live, and an imported order may add duties, taxes, or carrier restrictions. Does a very low price prove a shirt is fake?
No, but it is a serious warning that requires an explanation. Used goods, clearance stock, and regional pricing can be legitimate. The FTC cautions that an expensive item offered for a very low price might be fake, so investigate before paying.
Can HTTPS prove that a store is legitimate?
