Buy V-Bucks through Fortnite, the Epic Games Store, Fortnite’s web Item Shop, or an official card from a retailer authorized in your region. Epic says it does not partner with third-party V-Bucks sellers, and warns that unofficial purchases may not deliver V-Bucks and can put your account at risk.
Which V-Bucks purchase routes are safe?
Epic Games identifies its own purchase channels and authorized retail cards as the safe options. Its support page states, “Epic Games does not partner with any third-party V-Bucks sellers.” Treat a site offering unusually cheap V-Bucks, a giveaway that asks for your login, or a seller requesting account access as a warning sign—not as an authorized route. Epic says unofficial sellers may take payment without delivering V-Bucks, and sharing account details can compromise your account. Epic Support says it cannot refund or grant V-Bucks for purchases from unauthorized sellers. Epic Games Support: Is it safe to purchase V-Bucks from unofficial pages?

- Direct purchase: Buy in Fortnite, through the Epic Games Store, or in Fortnite’s web Item Shop on fortnite.com.
- Gift: Use a Fortnite gift card from a retailer authorized for your region. The card adds funds to an Epic account balance, which can then be used to buy V-Bucks.
- Older V-Bucks card: Some regions and retailers may still have legacy cards. They redeem through a different process and availability varies.
Epic confirms that Fortnite gift cards are sold in physical and online stores, but that does not establish that any particular marketplace listing or seller is authorized. Check the retailer and regional availability rather than relying on a listing’s claims.

Fortnite gift cards fund an Epic account balance; V-Bucks cards redeem V-Bucks directly. Epic says gift cards are replacing V-Bucks cards, although legacy V-Bucks cards may remain available in some locations. Follow the redemption instructions for the product you actually have—these card types are not interchangeable.

Check region, currency and platform before buying
Epic’s gift-card page lists supported regions including Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Czech Republic, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Mexico, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Saudi Arabia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, the Netherlands, the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom and the United States. Distribution and denominations can change, so check Epic’s current page and local retailer availability before buying. The currency on a Fortnite gift card must match the currency of the Epic account balance.
For a purchase or redemption, make sure you are using the Epic account linked to the Fortnite profile you intend to fund. On PlayStation or Xbox, Epic lists in-game purchase, V-Bucks card redemption and Epic Games Store purchase as available routes. A V-Bucks card redeemed for PlayStation or Xbox produces a secondary code; enter it in the Sony or Microsoft account linked to the Epic account to complete the process.

Understand the Nintendo Switch wallet limitation
Nintendo Switch does not support Fortnite Shared Wallet. If you use Epic account balance to buy V-Bucks, those V-Bucks can be spent in Fortnite’s web Item Shop or on another connected Shared Wallet platform, such as PlayStation, Xbox, PC, mobile or cloud gaming. Items bought with V-Bucks appear in the Locker across connected platforms, but that does not make the V-Bucks balance itself shared with Switch. Epic Games Support: Shared Wallet in Fortnite

- Go to Epic’s official Fortnite gift-card redemption page and sign in to the Epic account you want to fund: epicgames.com/redeem.
- Check that the signed-in account is the one linked to the Fortnite profile that should receive the funds.
- Enter the card code and review the account and currency shown before confirming. The card currency must match the Epic balance currency.
- After redemption, use the Epic account balance to purchase V-Bucks through an official Epic or Fortnite store.
Epic’s page lists the regions where gift cards are currently supported; check it before purchase because regional availability can change. At the time of review, Epic also stated that first-time redemption of a Fortnite gift card grants the GHOST Monks Outfit through December 31, 2026, in regions where gift cards are sold, limited to one outfit per account. Check the current terms on Epic’s page before relying on that promotion.

What to do if purchased V-Bucks are missing
- Restart Fortnite and check the balance again.
- Confirm which platform processed the purchase and which Epic account was signed in. A purchase may be associated with a different account than the one currently open.
- Check the transaction history and consider Shared Wallet rules, including the Nintendo Switch limitation.
- Contact the store or platform that processed the payment. Epic directs PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo buyers to their platform’s support; Epic Games Store buyers can contact Epic.
