A season pass, bundle, cross-play feature, or shared game account does not automatically mean that every add-on is included or transferable between platforms.
Start with the exact game, platform, and edition
Before searching for an add-on, note the game title, the platform you play on, and the edition you own—for example, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Steam, or Microsoft Store on PC. Find the DLC through that platform’s store page or the game’s own in-game store. On Microsoft Store, some add-ons are configured for purchase only in-game and may not have a separate Store listing (Microsoft Learn: Add-ons – Game Publishing Guide).

Match the add-on to the right base game product. Similar game titles, editions, or PC storefronts can have separate listings and entitlements. A listing that looks right by name is not enough if it is for a different platform or edition.

Check exactly what the offer includes
A bundle is a package, not a promise that it contains every piece of DLC. Microsoft Learn defines a bundle as “a collection of games and/or add-ons that customers can purchase as one product in the Microsoft Store” (Microsoft Learn: Bundles – Game Publishing Guide). In its publishing guidance, Microsoft distinguishes game bundles, add-on bundles, and season passes. A season pass is commonly used to promise access to specified forthcoming DLC; it is not necessarily a collection of all past and future content (Microsoft Learn: Add-ons – Game Publishing Guide).

Open the offer’s included-products list and check the named contents, availability dates, and exclusions before checkout. Confirm whether it includes the base game or assumes you already own it, which character packs or other add-ons are covered, and whether any promised content is not yet available.
Compare offers against what you want
If the store offers individual characters, a character pack, and a larger pass or bundle, compare the contents rather than relying on the offer name. A larger package is not necessarily better value if it includes items you will not use.

- Content: List the exact characters, costumes, stages, currencies, or other add-ons included.
- Base game: Check whether it is part of the package or must be owned separately.
- Timing: Separate content available now from future season-pass content, and check when the latter is expected to become available.
- Platform and edition: Confirm that the listing matches your game build and account ecosystem.
- Price: Compare the offer’s current store price with the cost of only the items you want. Current prices and fighting-game offers vary; use the live listing for your region.
- Refund terms: Review the rules for your store and region before downloading, streaming, or launching when those actions affect eligibility.
Do not assume DLC carries across platforms
Cross-play, cross-save, and DLC sharing are separate questions. Playing online with someone on another platform does not establish that your paid content will transfer, and a shared game account does not by itself prove that entitlements are shared.
Microsoft’s Store policy says digital content managed by Microsoft Store, including purchases through the Xbox console store, may not roam across gaming networks. Some game-managed in-game items may roam if the title supports it; that decision is left to the game. See Microsoft Store Policies, version 7.20 for the platform policy.

Individual publishers can set different rules. For example, Square Enix says FINAL FANTASY XVI DLC must be downloaded separately for its Microsoft Store and Xbox versions. Its support page also describes different entitlement behavior for an Xbox account and for the Microsoft Store PC version on a shared PC (Square Enix: FINAL FANTASY XVI DLC support). This is an example for FINAL FANTASY XVI, not a general rule for fighting games. Check the publisher’s support page for your specific title before buying on another platform.

Refund eligibility depends on the store, region, and what you have done with the content. PlayStation Support’s Ireland guidance says eligible games, DLC, and season passes must generally be requested within 14 days, and must not have been downloaded or streamed, except when the content is faulty. This is Ireland-specific guidance, not a worldwide PlayStation rule (PlayStation Support: Ireland refund requests). Check the policy that applies to your own account and region.

PlayStation says voucher codes are purchased from retailers outside PlayStation Store; for a code, ask the retailer about its cancellation and refund policy (PlayStation Support: Ireland refund requests). PlayStation’s March 2026 terms describe Store purchases as personal licenses for private, non-commercial use and make refunds subject to the applicable agreement and current cancellation policy (PlayStation Terms of Service). These terms do not replace the support policy for your own region.

Use this checkout checklist
- Write down the game title, platform, edition, and storefront you use.
- Open the add-on from that platform’s store page or the game’s in-game store.
- Read the included-products list; verify the base game requirement, named content, and release timing.
- Check the publisher’s support information for cross-platform entitlements if you might change platforms or use more than one.
- Compare the package with the specific items you want, using the current price and contents shown in your regional store.
- Review local refund terms before downloading, streaming, or launching, and check the seller’s policy if buying a voucher code.
