For most investors outside mainland China, the clearest documented route is to buy China Construction Bank’s Hong Kong-listed H-shares through a brokerage account that supports Hong Kong equities and accepts clients resident in your country. Search for ticker 939 or stock code 00939. CCB also lists A-shares in Shanghai as 601939, but access through Stock Connect depends on current eligibility and broker support.
Which China Construction Bank shares can you buy?
China Construction Bank (CCB) has two listed ordinary-share lines, on separate exchanges:

| Share line | Exchange and code | Stated board lot |
|---|---|---|
| H-shares | Hong Kong Stock Exchange; ticker 939, stock code 00939 | 1,000 shares per block |
| A-shares | Shanghai Stock Exchange; ticker 601939 | 100 shares per block |
These identifiers and block sizes come from CCB’s investor FAQ, which also lists the H-share listing date as 27 October 2005 and the A-share listing date as 25 September 2007. Confirm lot and odd-lot handling in your broker’s current order ticket; the issuer’s stated block size does not establish what every broker accepts.

- Find a broker that serves your country and supports Hong Kong equities. Residency rules differ, so confirm both before opening or funding an account.
- Search for China Construction Bank, ticker 939, or stock code 00939. Check the exchange and share line shown in the order ticket so you do not select the Shanghai A-share listing by mistake.
- Review costs and account details. Check commission, minimum charges, exchange fees, currency conversion, custody, settlement, and any dividend-handling charges with the broker. These details depend on the provider and your jurisdiction.
- Check the order size and submit the order using the broker’s instructions. CCB states a 1,000-share H-share block; verify the live order ticket for current lot and odd-lot rules.
The issuer confirms the Hong Kong listing, but the available information does not verify a particular broker, country’s eligibility, fee schedule, minimum account size, or custody arrangement. H-share trading takes place in Hong Kong; ask your broker what trading and settlement currency it uses for your account rather than assuming conversion or settlement terms.

Can overseas investors buy CCB A-shares through Stock Connect?
Possibly, but do not assume that Stock Connect makes CCB’s Shanghai shares available to you. HKEX describes Northbound Stock Connect as a route for international investors to trade selected mainland securities, subject to eligible-security and participant requirements. Its Stock Connect overview does not by itself establish that CCB’s 601939 shares are currently eligible or supported by your broker. Check the current eligible-security list and your broker’s access terms before relying on this route.
Southbound Stock Connect is different: it is described as a route for qualified mainland investors trading eligible Hong Kong-listed shares. It is not a general purchase route for someone living outside mainland China. HKEX reported 564 Southbound stocks and 23 ETFs at the end of December 2025, but that broader program figure does not establish eligibility for CCB’s A-shares.

Is there an ADR or OTC ticker?
A current CCB American depositary receipt or OTC depositary receipt was not confirmed in the available issuer and exchange material. Do not use a guessed U.S. ticker or assume an ADR route exists; the documented foreign-market listing here is the Hong Kong H-share line.

For H-share shareholder administration, CCB’s 2025 annual report, published 27 March 2026, names Computershare Hong Kong Investor Services as the H-share registrar. The registrar handles shareholding enquiries and related administration; it is not a broker or a place to buy shares. The same report notes that H-share shareholders were offered the option to receive 2025 interim dividends in RMB for the first time. That is specific to that dividend period, not a promise about future distributions.

- Your broker accepts residents of your country and offers trading on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange.
- The security shown is CCB’s H-share line, 939 / 00939, if that is the route you intend to use.
- You understand the broker’s commission, exchange charges, currency conversion, custody, settlement, and dividend-handling terms.
- The order ticket supports the size you want, including any applicable board-lot or odd-lot rules.
- If considering Shanghai A-shares, current CCB eligibility and your broker’s Northbound Stock Connect access are confirmed separately.
This explains how to identify an access route; it does not assess CCB’s valuation, suitability, expected return, credit risk, or your tax treatment. Those depend on the company and your personal circumstances.
