The U.S. PlayStation Store listing shows $17.49, while the cited Canadian Xbox Store listing shows CAD $21.99. Both list October 16, 2026 as the release date. Buy it through the store for your console, then install it from the product page or your game library. No official physical-disc listing is established by those listings.
At a glance: where the game is available
Heavy Metal Death Can has first-party digital listings for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The listings describe the same retro-inspired survival-horror premise: an alternate-history late-1970s Sweden, a submarine called HMS Domherren, a small group of survivors, scarce ammunition and a story that develops through the vessel’s confined spaces.

The official listings identify a downloadable console game rather than a boxed product. The PlayStation page specifies a PS5 product, while the Xbox page identifies an Xbox Series X|S title optimized for those consoles. Purchasing through either platform creates a digital entitlement on the associated account; installation is then performed through the console’s library or the game’s store page.

No physical disc, soundtrack, printed manual, merchandise item or other boxed edition is established by the cited official listings. If a third-party page claims to sell a disc or a code, verify that it is an authorized listing for your region and platform. The safest route described by the official information is to buy directly from the PlayStation Store or Xbox Store.
How to buy and download Heavy Metal Death Can on PS5
1. Sign in to the correct PlayStation account
On the PS5, sign in with the PlayStation Network account that should own the game. A purchase is tied to that account, so using a different profile can make the title appear missing later. If you intend to use console sharing or play on more than one PS5, check your account’s current sharing settings before purchasing.
2. Find the official store listing
Open the PlayStation Store from the PS5 home screen and search for Heavy Metal Death Can. Confirm the product is the PS5 version and that the publisher is shown as Krufs Productions AB. The U.S. listing used for the price reference shows a release date of October 16, 2026.
Recommended Free Tools
Checking the platform and publisher matters because search results can include similarly named entries, add-ons or listings intended for another device. The listing should also show the game’s one-player and offline-play information and its PS5-specific DualSense features.
3. Check the regional price before checkout
The cited U.S. listing displays $17.49. That figure applies to that storefront at the time represented by the listing; it is not a promise that every country will show the same number after currency conversion, sales tax or local pricing. Your store page is the authority for the amount you will actually pay.
4. Complete the purchase
Select the displayed price, review the checkout screen and complete payment using the methods available to your PlayStation account. Read the final total, including any tax shown for your account region, before confirming. Keep the purchase confirmation available until the game appears in your library.

5. Start the download on the console
After payment, use the product page’s download option if it is offered. You can also open Game Library, choose your collection or purchased games, select Heavy Metal Death Can and choose the download or install command. Menu wording can change with PS5 system software, but the entitlement should be visible under the account that made the purchase.
6. Install later if the console is not nearby
You do not have to begin the installation at the moment of purchase. Complete the purchase through the signed-in PlayStation Store account, then use the console’s game library when you next have access to the PS5. The console must be connected to the internet to retrieve the download, and it needs enough free storage for the installation; the cited listing does not state an installation size.
7. Verify the PS5 features after installation
Launch the game with a DualSense controller to use the listed vibration and trigger effects. These are feature support claims from the PS5 listing, not a guarantee that every gameplay moment uses the same intensity. The game is listed for one player and offline play, so an internet connection should not be required for ordinary offline gameplay after the initial purchase and installation, subject to the platform’s license checks and any updates.
How to buy and download Heavy Metal Death Can on Xbox Series X|S
1. Use the Microsoft account that will own the game
Sign in on the Xbox Series X or Series S with the Microsoft account intended to make the purchase. The account is the key to restoring the license, cloud saves and achievements on that Xbox ecosystem. If multiple people use the console, decide which account should own the title before checkout.
2. Open the Xbox Store listing
Open the Microsoft Store on the console and search for Heavy Metal Death Can. Confirm that the page is marked Optimised for Xbox Series X|S and identifies Krufs Productions as the publisher and developer. The cited page lists October 16, 2026 as the release date.

3. Check your own region’s currency
The cited Canadian Xbox storefront displays CAD $21.99. That is a Canadian-store price, not a universal conversion of the U.S. PlayStation amount. A buyer in another country may see a different currency and total. Stay signed in to the intended region and inspect the checkout screen for the applicable tax and final charge.

4. Buy the digital edition
Select the price, confirm the Microsoft account and payment details, and finish the purchase. The Xbox listing presents the title as a digital console game. Save the confirmation until the game is visible under your owned games.
5. Install from the store page or library
If the store offers an immediate install command, select it. Otherwise open My games & apps, choose Full library, then locate Heavy Metal Death Can under owned games and select install. Exact labels can vary by Xbox system update, but the purchased title should be recoverable from the same Microsoft account without buying it again.
6. Use the Xbox ecosystem features
The listing identifies single-player play, Xbox achievements, cloud saves and Xbox Play Anywhere. These labels indicate that the purchase is associated with the Microsoft gaming ecosystem and that the listed save and achievement services are supported. Check the product page and your account for the devices and entitlements available in your region rather than assuming every Microsoft device has identical availability.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsPS5 and Xbox Series versions compared
The choice is primarily about the console and account ecosystem you already use. The official information does not establish a gameplay-content difference between the two versions. The practical differences are storefront region, controller support and account-linked services.

What the game’s listings say about the experience
Submarine survival horror in an alternate-history Sweden
Both store descriptions place the story aboard a submarine in an alternate-history version of late-1970s Sweden. The Xbox description names the submarine HMS Domherren and refers to survivors including Milton and Captain Olof. That setting makes the purchase a good fit for players who want a contained, story-led horror environment rather than an open-world action game.

Fixed cameras and tank controls
The PlayStation description highlights fixed camera angles and tank controls, alongside modern control options. Fixed viewpoints can make navigation and threat visibility part of the tension. If you normally expect a free camera and contemporary movement in every horror game, read the listing’s control description carefully before buying; the modern options do not mean the classic presentation has been removed.
Resource management and limited ammunition
The descriptions emphasize resource management and limited ammunition. The game therefore presents scarcity as a core decision: using supplies immediately may make a later encounter harder, while conserving them can increase risk in the moment. This is useful context when deciding whether the title’s retro-survival-horror design matches your preferences.
Sound and atmosphere
The Xbox listing describes a soundtrack built from distorted guitar, analog synthesizer and unsettling silence. Those elements complement the naval setting and suggest that audio is part of the atmosphere, not merely background music. Headphones are optional; no accessory is required by the official listing.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Requirements to check before you purchase
- Correct console: choose the PS5 listing for a PlayStation 5 or the Xbox Series X|S listing for a Series console.
- Correct account: buy while signed in to the account that should own the digital license.
- Correct region: verify currency, taxes, age-rating information and the final total in your own storefront.
- Internet access: you need a connection to complete the store transaction and download the game.
- Free storage: ensure the console has sufficient space; the cited store pages do not state the required installation size.
- Release timing: both cited listings show October 16, 2026. If a regional page still presents a pre-release state or a different availability message, follow that page’s timing.
Troubleshooting purchase and download problems
The price is different from the figure in this guide
Check the storefront first. The reference figures come from a U.S. PlayStation page and a Canadian Xbox page, so another country can legitimately show a different amount. Currency conversion, local taxes and regional pricing can change the checkout total. Do not switch your account region solely to chase a displayed price; use the region associated with your account and payment method.
The game cannot be found
Search the exact title and confirm that the store is set to the intended country. Check the product label for PS5 or Optimised for Xbox Series X|S and verify the release date shown on the page. If the listing is unavailable in your region, the store—not a search result from another country—is the authority on whether you can purchase it.
The purchase succeeded but the game is not in the library
First confirm that you are signed in to the same PlayStation Network or Microsoft account used at checkout. Open the account’s purchase history if available, then refresh the library and restart the console. On Xbox, look under owned games; on PS5, check Game Library and the purchased collection. Avoid buying a second copy until the account and transaction have been verified.
The download will not start or stops partway through
Check the console’s network connection and available storage, pause and resume the download, and restart the console if the queue is unresponsive. If a system update is waiting, install it before retrying. A temporary store or network outage can also prevent a download from starting; wait and retry rather than repeatedly submitting a payment.
PS5 controller effects are not noticeable
Confirm that you are using a DualSense controller and that vibration and trigger-effect settings are enabled in the PS5 system settings. The listing confirms support for those features, but system-level settings, a muted controller battery state or a particular gameplay moment can affect what you feel.
Xbox saves or achievements do not appear
Make sure the console is online and signed in to the Microsoft account that owns the game. The Xbox listing identifies cloud saves and achievements, but synchronization can take time after the first launch or after reconnecting. Do not delete local save data while troubleshooting unless you understand the recovery implications.
Digital ownership and changing consoles
A digital purchase is restored through the account that made it, not through a disc you can lend or resell. On PS5, use the purchasing PlayStation Network account and the console’s library to reinstall. On Xbox, use the purchasing Microsoft account and the owned-games library. Keep account credentials secure and enable the platform’s available security controls.
Xbox Play Anywhere is specifically shown on the Xbox listing, while the PlayStation listing identifies a PS5 product. Those labels should guide expectations about account-linked access, but the exact devices and regional entitlements are determined by the store page and your Microsoft or PlayStation account.
Bottom line
Buy Heavy Metal Death Can from the official PlayStation Store if you play on PS5, or from the Xbox Store if you use Xbox Series X|S. The cited U.S. PS5 listing shows $17.49 and the cited Canadian Xbox listing shows CAD $21.99; your own region may differ. After checkout, install it from the console’s library or product page. The official listings establish digital versions and platform features, but they do not establish a physical disc edition.
