As of October 4, 2026, Sony is accepting applications to buy a PS5 Pro through the Japan Sony Store. Apply by October 7 at 23:59 Japan time (JST). If eligible applications exceed the planned allocation, Sony will select buyers by lottery; this is not a guaranteed purchase. The route is limited to Japan residents who meet Sony’s account and gameplay requirements.
Apply through Sony Store by October 7
Use the application form linked from Sony’s PS5 Pro purchase application notice while signed in to the Sony account you intend to use. Sony says applications will be drawn by lottery if they exceed the planned number of units. It expects to begin notifying selected applicants on October 26, 2026.

The application window is short, and selection does not reserve the console indefinitely. Selected applicants must complete checkout on a dedicated online Sony Store page by November 2, 2026, at 11:59 JST. A physical Sony Store cannot process this purchase. Sony says it may hold another drawing from November onward for units that winners do not purchase.

Check eligibility before applying
Sony will check eligibility after the application period. All of these conditions apply to this purchase route:
#1 Best Overall
- Model Number CFI-2000
- Includes DualSense Wireless Controller, 1TB SSD, 2 Horizontal Stand Feet, HDMI Cable, AC power cord, USB cable, printed materials, ASTRO’s PLAYROOM (Pre-installed game)
- Vertical Stand sold seperately
- You live in Japan and use PlayStation online services with a Sony account registered in Japan.
- Your account recorded at least 60 total hours of PS5 and/or PS4 gameplay from September 27, 2024, through September 27, 2026, at 23:59 JST. That measurement period has ended, so playtime added now cannot count toward it.
- Your Sony account sign-in ID is linked with your My Sony ID. Sony says accounts newly registered for My Sony ID from January 19, 2022, are already unified; older accounts and people without a My Sony ID may need to link them.
- You have not already used the account to buy one under this offer. Sony allows one console per Sony account.
Sony’s page describes the process as “ソニーストア購入申し込み” (Sony Store purchase application) and says: “ご応募数が販売予定台数を超えた場合は抽選とさせていただきます” (“If applications exceed the planned number of units, we will conduct a lottery.”)

Sony also says linking LINE after applying can enable winner notices through LINE. Monitor your chosen notification channels so you do not miss the checkout deadline.
Sony prohibits resale-purpose applications or purchases, and the winner’s rights cannot be transferred. Sony may invalidate an order for missing the deadline, false registration information, an evident resale purpose or prohibited delivery changes.

Sony lists the Japan model as PlayStation 5 Pro CFI-7100B01, with a 2TB SSD and a suggested retail price of ¥137,980 including tax. The box includes one DualSense wireless controller, horizontal feet, an HDMI cable, a power cord, a USB cable, printed materials and Astro’s Playroom preinstalled. See Sony’s PS5 Pro product page for the product details.
The console is digital-only and does not include a disc drive. If you want to use disc-based PS5 or PS4 games, Blu-ray discs or DVDs, Sony says you need to buy a compatible disc drive separately. The vertical stand is also sold separately. Add either accessory to your budget only if your setup requires it.
Sony describes the Pro’s benefits as advanced ray tracing, sharper and clearer visuals on 4K televisions, and higher frame rates in supported games. Enhanced visuals apply only to selected PS5 games and vary by game, so do not assume every title receives a Pro-specific upgrade.
If you do not qualify or miss the application
The Sony application route is unavailable to nonresidents and people without a Japan-registered account that meets its requirements. For other options, check PlayStation Japan’s buying page and individual authorized retailers directly for current availability. No named third-party retailer’s stock is established here, so treat a listing as available only when that seller currently shows it.
Sony’s PlayStation buying guide recommends buying new products from authorized retailers; unauthorized sellers may offer stolen or fraudulent goods. Sony also warns that warranty coverage may not apply to used products. If considering a used console, check the seller’s reputation, ask for evidence that ports, buttons and operation have been tested, inspect the item, confirm it can connect to PlayStation services, and be cautious of unusually cheap offers.
