How to Buy a PS5 Game With Wallet Funds and a Payment Card

Yes—you can use your PlayStation wallet balance and a payment card for the same PS5 game purchase. PlayStation Store uses wallet funds first, then lets an eligible payment method cover any remaining amount. The payment methods available depend on your account’s country or region.

How to pay the rest with your card at checkout

1. Make sure an eligible card or other payment method is saved to your account. On PS5, go to Settings > Users and Accounts > Account > Payment and Subscriptions > Payment Methods. Menu labels or availability may vary by region or system software version.

3. Find the digital game in PlayStation Store and proceed to checkout. Your wallet funds are applied first; if they do not cover the full price, the remaining balance can be paid with another eligible method.

4. Review the checkout total and payment method shown, then confirm the purchase.

PlayStation Support describes the rule this way: “When you pay for a purchase, your wallet funds are used first. If your wallet funds don’t cover the full balance of a purchase, the remainder can be settled using other payment methods.” Sony’s US terms also say an approved payment method may be charged automatically for the balance needed to complete a purchase.

How to add money to your PS5 wallet first

You do not have to top up your wallet to combine it with a card at checkout. Adding funds in advance is an alternative if you would rather use a prepaid balance.

1. On PS5, open Settings > Users and Accounts > Account > Payment and Subscriptions > Add Funds.

• Sony’s US support information says an account can save up to three credit or debit cards and one payment service. This limit is specific to the cited US support information.

• Adult accounts have a wallet, which can be funded with a valid payment method or a PlayStation Store gift card.

• Child accounts do not have their own wallet and cannot add funds. A child can buy eligible content using the family manager’s wallet, subject to the child’s spending limit; Sony says the default monthly limit is zero.

If the card is declined or a purchase seems missing

• Card declined: Confirm the card is supported for the account’s country or region. Try another supported payment method or a PlayStation Store voucher.

• Wallet funding or purchase not showing: Check transaction history. If wallet funding is unavailable, check PlayStation service status and try again when services are operating normally.
