Playwright provides navigation and capture for individual pages; the batch loop, filenames, retries, and manifest are application logic you must build. Before running it, confirm that your intended access, capture frequency, and later use are allowed by the marketplace.
Check permission before automating marketplace pages
Playwright can navigate to a page, but technical ability does not grant permission to access or copy its content. Review current terms for the specific marketplace, pages, frequency, and intended storage or publication. Do not evade blocks, authentication, rate limits, or other access controls.

Flipkart
Flipkart’s Terms of Use expressly restrict automated access, including page scraping and robots, except for information purposely made available through the website. Confirm whether your proposed work is authorized before capturing product pages.
Amazon.in
Do not treat a rule from one Amazon program or service as the complete policy for Amazon.in retail pages. Amazon India’s Associates participation requirements state: “You will not artificially generate clicks or impressions on your site or create Sessions on the Amazon Site, whether by way of a robot or software program or otherwise.” That is a program rule, not a universal statement about every use of retail pages. Amazon Freight India’s conditions separately restrict data mining, robots, and similar tools for content extraction; they do not substitute for checking the current terms governing Amazon.in retail pages.

Prefer an authorized data interface when available
Flipkart documents seller APIs for eligible seller applications and seller business processes. They are worth investigating for authorized seller-data needs, but are not a general product-page screenshot endpoint. See the Flipkart seller API documentation.
Choose what each screenshot should show
Decide the capture target before building the batch. The right choice depends on whether you need comparable previews or the whole product page.

Build a reliable URL batch
- Prepare inputs. Keep one URL per line, or use a structured file with a stable ID for every input. IDs make it easier to map output files to source rows.
- Use a dedicated output directory. Derive filenames from the stable ID or a sanitized slug, not arbitrary URL text. Raw URLs may contain unsafe characters or sensitive query parameters.
- Navigate and wait for the relevant content. Navigation completing does not guarantee product details or images have rendered. Use a page-specific readiness condition only when you have verified it for that page set; do not assume one selector or wait strategy works across marketplaces.
- Record outcomes individually. Save the input URL, final URL after redirects, timestamp, screenshot path, and status or error in a manifest. This makes redirects, timeouts, and failed captures visible instead of silently losing rows.
- Start sequentially. Process one page at a time until you understand the workload and permitted frequency. Increase concurrency only deliberately and when authorized; parallel pages increase load and can complicate diagnosis.
Runnable Node.js example
This example uses Playwright’s Node package, reads a newline-delimited urls.txt, takes viewport screenshots, and writes a JSON Lines manifest. It is a starting point for a page set you are authorized to access; it does not assume any marketplace-specific selector or promise that every page will load successfully.

}The example’s domcontentloaded wait is a navigation milestone, not proof that client-rendered product information, images, or other late content is ready. Add a verified locator wait, a justified delay, or another page-specific condition if your authorized pages require it. If one page’s failure could leave a later page in a bad state, create a fresh page per URL or explicitly reset state between navigations.
Adapt the capture and output policy
Full-page images
Use await page.screenshot({ path: screenshotPath, fullPage: true }) when content below the fold matters. This captures the scrollable page, not just the current viewport.

Element images
Use a locator for a page element, for example await page.locator('YOUR_VERIFIED_SELECTOR').screenshot({ path: screenshotPath }). Replace the selector with one verified for the pages you are authorized to capture. Locator screenshots target that element; they are not a substitute for combining an element with fullPage.
Format and scale
Choose PNG for lossless output, or JPEG/WebP when those formats fit your downstream use. Playwright’s screenshot API documents the available formats and scale options. Keep viewport and scale settings fixed across a comparison batch; changing device scale can produce larger files and affect comparability.
Manifest and restart behavior
JSON Lines, as in the example, lets each result be appended as it completes. For restartable jobs, give inputs stable IDs instead of deriving IDs only from row position, and check the manifest before retrying so a rerun does not accidentally overwrite or mislabel a different URL. Keep credentials and sensitive URL parameters out of public manifests.

Concurrency, performance, and cost considerations
A sequential loop is easier to reason about and produces clearer failure records, but takes longer than parallel navigation. Concurrency should be bounded and used only where permitted: each active page consumes browser resources and adds requests to the target site. Full-page captures and high device-pixel scaling can also increase image size, memory use, and write time. There is no universal safe concurrency or wait duration for Indian marketplaces; page behavior and permitted frequency vary.
For dependable runs, record timeouts and HTTP failures rather than treating them as successful screenshots. Avoid blind retries that can amplify load or violate site rules. If retries are appropriate and authorized, cap them, record each failure, and distinguish retryable network errors from access-denied responses. Browser execution costs depend on where you run Playwright and are not set by Playwright itself.

- Browser executable missing: install the browser matching the package with
npx playwright install chromium. - Navigation timeout: the page may be slow, waiting indefinitely on network activity, or inaccessible. Use a bounded timeout and an appropriate readiness milestone; do not increase timeouts without limit.
- Screenshot is blank or missing product details: navigation may have finished before client-rendered content appeared. Wait for a verified page-specific condition, and inspect the recorded final URL and status.
- HTTP error or redirect: inspect the main-resource status and
finalUrlin the manifest. A redirect can lead away from the expected product page; do not treat it as a valid capture automatically. - Selector not found: element capture depends on a selector present on that page. Verify it for the authorized page set instead of assuming marketplace layouts are uniform.
- Files overwrite or cannot be identified: use stable IDs and safe generated names rather than raw URL strings; preserve the mapping in the manifest.
- Requests are blocked or access is denied: stop and review applicable terms or seek authorization. Do not evade blocks, authentication, or rate limits.
