What does the shotgun cost, and what does it do?
The shotgun is listed at $150 and appears in the Forest Island/Island 2 progression. Its damage figures are expressed per projectile, not per entire shot: the Field Database lists a progression from 3 to 28 damage per projectile as upgrades are purchased. Shotgun spread makes it better suited to close targets where pellets can connect; keep a ranged weapon for distant targets, as the published guide recommends.

The 12 listed upgrades cost $26,540 altogether. The labels below are simply the purchase order; the Early, Mid, Late, and Endgame groupings used by one guide are editorial labels, not official in-game categories.

The listed damage states start at 3 per projectile before the first upgrade, then rise through the values shown. Since these are per-projectile figures, they should not be read as the total damage of a complete shot.
What lure order should you use to fund upgrades?
One published shotgun guide recommends stepping through these lures as income grows. It suggests buying the next available bullet upgrade when your current earning pace allows, rather than postponing all damage investment until the end.

The broader upgrades reference says attachment availability is spread across islands: Laser Sight on Island 2; Red Dot Sight, Compensator, and Extended Mag on Island 3; and Sniper Scope and Suppressor on Island 4. Availability is weapon-specific, however: the shotgun entry explicitly says this weapon has no Extended Mag and remains at two shells. Do not spend money expecting to extend its capacity.
