What to know about LEGO PlayStation set 72306
The 18+ set has 1,911 pieces and depicts the original PlayStation and its first controller. LEGO describes the console model as near 1:1 scale, measuring over 6 cm high, 26 cm wide, and 19 cm deep. It has functional Open and Power buttons, a controller that plugs into the front, and removable dioramas inspired by Gran Turismo (1997) and Ape Escape (1999). How to build it carefully
- Confirm the set number. Check that the box or instructions identify it as 72306. LEGO says set numbers help locate official building instructions and replacement pieces.
- Choose your build reference. Follow the paper instructions or use the official digital instructions. LEGO says its Builder app lets you zoom in, rotate the model in 3D, track progress, and save sets.
- Set up a clear, stable work area. Keep small pieces and sub-builds where they cannot roll away or get caught beneath your hands. This is a practical handling suggestion, not a set-specific LEGO procedure.
- Check orientation before applying force. If a connection feels stubborn, pause and compare the parts with the instruction image. Avoid pulling pieces apart at an angle or forcing a connection that may be misaligned. No special tool is specified in LEGO’s published set information.
- Handle movable and removable parts gently. The buttons, plug-in controller, and removable dioramas are features to position with care. LEGO does not publish durability testing or a recommendation for repeatedly operating the buttons.
Choose a display arrangement and give it room
LEGO presents the model as shelf or desk décor. Set it on a level, steady surface and allow for the console’s 26-by-19-cm footprint, plus additional room if the controller or dioramas will sit beside it. The dimensions describe the console model; LEGO does not state a shelf-load requirement.

You can leave the game dioramas inside the console or remove them for display alongside it. The controller can be plugged into the front or placed nearby. LEGO confirms these display options but does not compare their stability or protection from damage, so choose the arrangement that fits your space and handle detached pieces gently when moving them.

Clean the pieces without exposing them to damaging heat
LEGO’s cleaning guidance, accessed 4 October 2026, recommends hand-cleaning pieces with water no hotter than 104°F (40°C) and a soft cloth or sponge. LEGO says you may add mild detergent, then rinse the pieces well with clear water.
- Do not put LEGO pieces in a washing machine or dishwasher.
- Do not dry them in an oven, microwave, or with a hair dryer.
- Do not leave them in direct sunlight to dry: LEGO warns that very hot bricks may change shape.
For dust between washes, a dry soft brush or cloth is a conservative routine option, but it is not the method specified in LEGO’s cleaning article. The set announcement describes tactile functional buttons but does not say the model contains electronics. If cleaning any LEGO piece that does contain metal or other sensitive components, LEGO advises using a cloth moistened with water and mild detergent without perfume or oil.

Find a replacement if a piece is missing or damaged
LEGO’s guide to identifying set and piece numbers, accessed 4 October 2026, explains that newer instruction booklets list element numbers at the back. Many pieces also have a four- or five-digit design number molded inside. Turn the piece under bright light to look for it; the number and color can help identify the part. LEGO says you can enter an element or design number in its replacement-pieces service to check availability.
