Build the path with a clear public playlist of regular videos, then point viewers to it from relevant YouTube surfaces. Cards on regular uploads can link directly to a playlist, and eligible end screens can feature one; use the stream description, channel page and live chat to explain why viewers should continue. YouTube’s Live Redirect is for a Premiere or another live stream—not a documented handoff to an ordinary uploaded video.
Design the viewer journey before adding links
A playlist funnel is a sequence of useful choices, not simply a link pasted under a stream. Start with the viewer’s likely next question after watching the 24/7 stream, and make the playlist answer it with regular videos.

- Choose one next destination. Group regular videos around a viewer goal or topic related to the stream. Use a descriptive, public playlist so people can open it from your links.
- Put the best next video near the beginning. Order the playlist so its first entries make sense to someone arriving from the live stream. YouTube lets creators create, edit and reorder playlists. YouTube Help: Create and manage playlists.
- Explain the payoff. Describe what viewers will get by continuing in the playlist description and in the stream’s on-page messaging. Use a direct invitation that fits the actual content rather than a vague “watch more.”
- Keep the route consistent. Use the same destination playlist in relevant descriptions, cards and end screens, so viewers encounter a recognizable next step.
Connect regular videos to the playlist
Add cards to relevant uploads
In YouTube Studio, open a relevant video’s editor and add a card that points to the public playlist. YouTube allows up to five cards on one video; cards are unavailable on videos set as Made for Kids. Use cards where the playlist is a natural continuation, not on every upload regardless of subject. See YouTube Help: Add cards to videos.
Use end screens for the final viewing choice
In YouTube Studio, open the video editor’s end-screen controls and add a video or playlist element. End screens appear during the final 5–20 seconds, and the video must be at least 25 seconds long. Choose an end time and placement that leave the featured option visible without covering important content. You can review the end-screen element click-rate report for an individual video in Analytics. See YouTube Help: Add end screens to videos.

Make the channel page and live chat useful signposts
Feature or organize the destination playlist on your channel page where appropriate, and make the stream description or live-chat message explain what it contains. A viewer should be able to tell whether the playlist offers a beginner sequence, deeper explanations or related topics before clicking. Keep live-chat prompts accurate and occasional; they should not obscure the stream conversation.
Use Live Redirect only for the kind of handoff it supports
Live Redirect sends viewers when a stream ends to a Premiere or another channel’s live stream. YouTube does not document it as a way to redirect viewers to a standard uploaded video. For an evergreen path into already-published videos, use public playlist links with cards or end screens instead. A Premiere can be a scheduled event-style bridge, but it remains a Premiere rather than an ordinary video link.

YouTube lists these requirements for a creator sending a Live Redirect: more than 1,000 subscribers and no Community Guidelines strikes. To redirect to another channel, that channel must allow the redirect. The setup control is in YouTube Studio under the live video’s customization and redirect settings; labels may change, so confirm the current controls in Studio. YouTube’s live-stream feature comparison lists Live Redirect for horizontal streams, not vertical live feeds. Details: YouTube Help: Redirect your live stream viewers and YouTube Help: Get started with live streaming.
| Route | Destination | Useful for | Constraint |
|---|---|---|---|
| Live Redirect | A Premiere or another channel’s live stream | A scheduled, event-style handoff when a stream ends | Sender eligibility applies; ordinary uploaded-video destinations are not documented, and the feature is not listed for vertical live feeds. |
| Playlist links through cards or end screens | A public playlist or video | An evergreen route into regular uploads | Cards have restrictions; end screens require an eligible video and have display-length conditions. |
Plan for stream archives and highlights
YouTube says live-stream archives are automatically uploaded by default and recommends organizing archives and highlight clips into playlists. However, streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived, while streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured. A continuous 24/7 feed therefore should not be treated as a dependable archive of every moment. Preserve a local recording if you need a reliable source for clips or later uploads, and consider shorter sessions or separately published segments that fit your workflow. See YouTube Help: Archive live streams and YouTube Help: Create and manage live stream archives.

Keep the stream archive, highlight clips and regular-video funnel organized for their distinct purposes. A viewer arriving for a specific explanation may be better served by a focused regular-video playlist than by a long continuous archive.
Measure whether viewers use the route
Check end-screen element click-rate reporting on videos that feature the playlist. Playlist Analytics provides data only for public playlists that received views during the selected reporting period. These reports can show activity on those YouTube surfaces; on their own, they do not prove the funnel caused overall channel growth. Compare relevant videos and periods carefully, and use the results to refine playlist order or placement rather than assuming a particular conversion rate.
