1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsTo livestream ASMR page turning on YouTube, use an encoder workflow: frame the book and hands with a fixed camera, connect an audio source that captures the page sounds clearly, create or schedule a stream in YouTube Studio, and send the video and audio to it using the stream URL and key. Test privately or as an unlisted stream before going public, and confirm you have rights to any content viewers can see or hear.
Check YouTube live-stream access first
Your channel must be verified and must not have had a live-stream restriction in the previous 90 days. YouTube says streamers must be at least 16 years old. If this is your first live stream, activation can take up to 24 hours, so enable it before the day you plan to broadcast. See YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility and setup guidance.

For a composed shot of a book and hands with a separate microphone or other external audio equipment, an encoder is the best fit among YouTube’s mobile, webcam, and encoder routes. YouTube’s encoder workflow supports external audio and video equipment. The steps below apply to that workflow.
Set up the page-turning scene and sound
Frame the book and hands
Mount the camera so the page-turning area stays in view as you work. Light the pages enough for their movement to be visible, and keep the background uncluttered. Check the framing from the viewer’s perspective rather than assuming that a view comfortable to you at the desk will read clearly on a small screen.

Capture the sounds without clipping
Place your audio source close enough to pick up the handling sounds you want, then listen for room noise and overly loud page movements. A USB microphone is one possible option, not a requirement; start with equipment you already own if it gives you a clean, controllable signal. If considering new audio gear, check that it connects to your computer or encoder and that the encoder recognizes it. YouTube advises creators to monitor audio quality during a stream; it does not specify an ASMR microphone or a model recommendation. Its live-streaming tips are a useful checklist for preparation and monitoring.
Create the event and connect your encoder
- Open YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room. Create a live stream or schedule one for a later time. Set the title, description, audience and visibility deliberately. Use a private or unlisted test if you want to check the complete setup without beginning with a public broadcast.
- Copy the stream URL and stream key. Enter both in your encoder’s YouTube destination or streaming settings. The key is a credential: anyone who obtains it may be able to send a feed to your stream, so do not publish it or show it on screen. You can review YouTube’s encoder setup instructions and live-stream settings guidance.
- Select the camera and audio inputs. Confirm the encoder is using the intended camera and microphone, and that page movement remains visible while the audio meter responds to the sounds you intend to capture.
- Check the Live Control Room preview before starting publicly. Verify the picture, sound, stream details and privacy setting in the preview. Start the encoder, wait for the incoming feed to appear, then start the broadcast as directed in the Live Control Room.
Test and time the broadcast
Before going public, test the whole chain: camera framing, page visibility, input levels, the quietest and loudest page movements, and network stability. A test helps catch problems that are hard to spot by looking only at encoder meters.

- YouTube recommends setting up an encoder event at least two hours before its scheduled start and starting the encoder 15 minutes beforehand.
- Leave upload-bandwidth room: YouTube recommends 20% more upload capacity than the total bitrate of the stream.
- Keep the Live Control Room preview open and monitor audio and video throughout the broadcast. YouTube’s guidance puts it plainly: “Continuously monitor streams for audio and video quality.”

End the stream and check its archive
When the session is over, end the stream in YouTube and stop sending the feed from the encoder. YouTube says streams shorter than 12 hours are automatically archived. After ending, check that the archive exists and confirm its visibility setting rather than assuming it is public, private or unlisted as intended. YouTube describes stream management and archiving in its live-stream settings help.

Clear rights for what viewers see and hear
YouTube’s livestream terms require the provider to have the necessary rights for live content and archived content, including music licensing rights. Avoid background music unless you have cleared it for the uses involved. Page-turning does not itself settle the rights question if the camera shows substantial book text or you read that text aloud: assess the specific work and use before streaming. The available platform guidance does not establish that a particular book is permitted, public domain, or covered by a legal exception. Read YouTube’s livestream terms and conditions.
