Build around the skills your Identities can actually use: choose a resonance goal, check the skills and their conditional effects, then weigh enemy matchups and the E.G.O resources you need. A team that can make a strong resonance chain occasionally may be less useful than one that forms its intended pattern reliably in the encounter you are playing.
What Sin Resonance does
Each skill has one of seven Sin Affinities: Wrath, Lust, Sloth, Gluttony, Gloom, Pride, or Envy. On the Dashboard, selecting two or more skills with the same Affinity forms regular Resonance. Selecting three or more of that Affinity consecutively forms Absolute Resonance. Resonance can activate conditional skill effects and passives; the mechanics reference also describes Offense or Defense Level gains. See the Resonance reference.

Affinity is not the same as attack type. Affinity connects to resonance, E.G.O resource generation, and interactions with enemy Sin Resistances. Attack type is a separate property and should be considered alongside affinity when choosing a team. The battle reference describes these combat factors and how outcomes depend on enemies and available skills.

Build the team around your roster and encounter
- Choose the team’s main plan. Decide whether you primarily want to form one Affinity’s resonance, support a status or resource synergy, or combine those goals. Resonance-focused teams are one possible archetype, not a requirement for every lineup. Team-building guidance covers resonance alongside other synergy approaches.
- Inspect the Identities’ actual skills. For each Identity you might bring, note the Affinity and attack type of its skills. Then check whether its passives or skill effects reward a particular Affinity or resonance condition. A shared skill color matters when those skills and effects make the pattern useful, not simply because the color matches.
- Match the plan to the fight. Consider enemy attack types, Sin Resistances, and the encounter’s mechanics. A lineup built to make a particular resonance may give up useful coverage elsewhere, so judge the trade-off against the demands of the specific encounter.
- Check E.G.O resource access. Note which Sin resources the team’s skills generate and whether that supports the E.G.O you expect to use. A resonance plan should fit the resource needs of the rest of the lineup rather than being evaluated in isolation.
- Judge consistency, not only the best possible chain. Ask how often the skills you are likely to have available can form the intended resonance, and whether its conditional effects justify any gaps in attack-type or affinity coverage. The mechanics explain how resonance works, but do not provide a universal numerical score for lineup reliability.
Compare two candidate lineups
Use the same questions for both options rather than relying on a best-team ranking. The sources establish the mechanics below, not a universal numerical score or a lineup that is optimal for every player and encounter.

Use a team builder as a planning aid
