The strongest Summoners Greed team is not one permanent five-monster lineup. Build around one primary damage dealer, place support monsters where they strengthen that carry, and then change damage type, control, or area coverage to match the current map. When a harder stage is unreliable, farm the latest stage you can clear consistently and turn those resources into upgrades.
The game’s core loop is summoning monsters, placing them on a defense map, protecting your treasure and upgrading the team. The official listings describe that loop on the Apple App Store and Google Play. The formation below uses that loop as its foundation while leaving room for roster, star level and map-rule differences.

What a strong team is supposed to do
A good team answers five questions before you spend scarce coins or summon resources:

- Who is the primary damage dealer? One unit should receive the largest share of your upgrade investment and be positioned to attack the most valuable targets.
- Which support units improve that plan? Buffers, speed enhancers or other utility monsters should be close enough to affect the carry, not parked where their abilities miss the main fight.
- Can the formation handle the map’s shape? A single-target carry may need a wide-area attacker when enemies split across lanes or arrive in groups.
- What control is required? Slowing, stunning or another form of control can buy a damage dealer the time needed to finish durable enemies, when your roster offers it.
- Does the damage work against this map? Later maps can impose elemental immunities, so a lineup that dominated an earlier map may do little damage on the next one.
These are decision rules, not an official ranking. The community’s Updated Beginners Guide is useful for formation ideas, but its exact recommendations are player advice and can age as balance changes.

Build the core before filling every slot
1. Choose one carry
Start with the monster that currently deals the most dependable damage in your roster. “Dependable” matters more than a theoretical maximum: a unit you can afford to upgrade and deploy at the required star level is usually a better carry today than a stronger unit you cannot develop.
Put your first meaningful upgrades into that carry instead of distributing the same small amount across every monster. Concentrated investment gives you a clear answer when a wave becomes difficult: improve the unit that is already responsible for most of your successful clears.
2. Add support around the carry
The beginner guide specifically recommends Speedy and Mighty as support choices and advises placing them to support adjacent attackers. Use that as a starting pattern rather than a universal rule. If the map forces a different path or the support range does not reach your carry, move the support unit until its effect actually covers the damage dealer.

If the carry is outside the support effect, the slot is not providing its intended value, even if the formation looks correct on a screenshot. A support monster can be more useful beside a slightly weaker carry that it consistently buffs than beside a high-damage unit it cannot reach.
3. Reserve space for coverage or control
After the carry and its support are working, use remaining positions to solve the map’s problem. Broad-area attacks help when several lanes or clusters must be covered. Control helps when enemies survive long enough to reach the treasure. Do not add a control unit simply because it is popular elsewhere; add it when the current failure is caused by enemies moving or surviving, rather than by insufficient raw damage.
A repeatable team-building procedure
- Read the map before summoning. Note the enemies, lanes, elemental rules, win condition and any special challenge modifier shown by the current client.
- Identify the failure point. Watch a failed attempt and decide whether the carry lacks damage, a support effect is misplaced, enemies are reaching an uncovered lane, or an immunity is negating your damage type.
- Set a carry position. Choose the spot where the primary damage dealer can attack for the greatest portion of the path or the most important target.
- Place support next. Put Speedy, Mighty or another support unit in a position that demonstrably affects the carry and any adjacent attacker you also intend to strengthen.
- Fill the map’s gap. Add area damage for groups, a second damage type for resistant enemies, or control for fast or durable waves.
- Test without over-spending. Run the map with the smallest change that addresses the failure. If the result improves, upgrade the unit that produced that improvement rather than resetting the entire roster.
- Set a farming fallback. If the next stage is not consistent, return to the latest stage you can clear repeatedly and farm there until the next upgrade makes the harder stage reliable.
Quest Meridian’s Summoner’s Greed guide also emphasizes confirming the active event and its timer in the game before spending event resources. That check belongs at the start of this procedure whenever you are playing a rotating event map.

Positioning: make every slot earn its place
Put the carry where enemies spend time
In a tower-defense map, a damage dealer gains value from repeated attack opportunities. Prefer a position that covers a long section of the route or a point where multiple enemy paths overlap, provided the unit’s attack can reach the targets you need to hit. The best-looking central position is not automatically best if the unit’s range misses an important lane.
Keep adjacent support meaningful
Speedy and Mighty are named examples of support monsters in the beginner guide. Place them beside the attackers they are intended to help, then verify the effect during combat. If you move the carry, move its support with it; a one-tile change can turn a buffed attacker into an unbuffed one.
Use the edges for specialists
Specialists that provide control or wide coverage can occupy positions the carry does not need. Their job is to solve a specific weakness: a lane the carry cannot reach, a group that survives single-target hits, or an enemy that must be delayed. If a specialist never affects the wave that defeats you, replace it or reposition it.

Early progression: spend to create a dependable clear
At the beginning, your roster and star levels limit the number of viable combinations. Use the strongest accessible damage unit as your carry, then add the support monsters you can actually deploy. The beginner guide’s Speedy-and-Mighty advice is especially useful here because it gives new players a simple placement test: position the supports around the attackers they are meant to improve.
Do not delay every upgrade while waiting for a perfect late-game roster. An affordable temporary unit can pay for itself by making a reliable farming stage possible. Replace it when a new unit is sufficiently developed, not merely because its name or rarity looks better on paper.

How to know when early upgrades are working
- The carry defeats priority enemies before they reach the final part of the route.
- Support effects remain active on the carry for most of the wave.
- You can repeat the farming map without depending on a lucky sequence.
- A failed run has a visible cause that one upgrade or position change can address.
If those conditions are not met, stop pushing temporarily. The reliable-farm principle is a progression tool: repeat the latest stage you can clear consistently, collect its resources and upgrade the bottleneck.

Later maps and elemental immunities
The community guide reports that some later maps impose elemental immunities. An immune enemy is not a signal to pour more currency into the same damage type; it is a signal to inspect the map rule and change the damage plan. Keep at least one alternative source of damage developed enough to test when the current carry is blocked.
A practical immunity check
- Open the map information in the current game client and read the displayed enemy or elemental rule.
- Run a short attempt with your usual carry and watch whether its attacks are being negated or failing to affect the relevant enemies.
- Swap to a compatible damage unit, even if its current level is lower, and compare whether it can interact with those enemies.
- Move support to the new carry rather than leaving Speedy, Mighty or another buffer attached to the inactive unit.
- Farm the prior reliable map if the alternative unit needs upgrades before the later map becomes consistent.
Because the exact roster and immunities can change, do not treat an old “best team” list as a permanent answer. The map’s current rule has priority over a lineup copied from an earlier version.
Challenge maps: solve the modifier, not the reputation
Challenge maps can introduce additional twists, according to the community guide. Begin with your proven carry-support core, then identify what the challenge changes. If enemies arrive in larger groups, add broad coverage. If they move faster or survive longer, prioritize control or a second damage source. If the modifier restricts a damage type or placement, rebuild around the remaining legal options.

Nightmare and other volatile progression modes
Nightmare is not a fixed target whose requirements can be safely copied from an old guide. Official store update notes show that Nightmare availability, difficulty and rewards have changed over time; the same notes also document changes to Mythical balance and costs. Check the current client before committing resources or presenting a lineup as current.
Nightmare decision rule
- Enter only when your normal farming route produces enough resources to support the required upgrades.
- Confirm that the mode is currently available for your account and that its reward structure matches the effort.
- Test your carry against the mode’s actual enemies and rules rather than assuming an earlier map’s damage type will work.
- Compare a consistent clear with a more lucrative but unreliable attempt; the consistent route is usually better for building the next upgrade.
If the mode’s current difficulty or reward balance makes it inefficient, return to your reliable farm. That is not lost progress; it is a deliberate resource loop.

Events: build for the live rotation
Events can change featured monsters, currencies, timers and objectives. Quest Meridian’s guide recommends confirming the active event and timer in-game before spending event resources. Apply that advice literally: read the event panel each time you return after an update or a long break.

- Check the event’s end time and whether the timer is for a map, shop offer or reward track.
- Identify the event enemy rules and win condition before moving your permanent team.
- Use event currency on upgrades that help the active objective, not on an assumed future rotation.
- Keep your normal farming team intact unless the event requires a separate roster; rebuilding a reliable farm can slow overall progress.
- Recheck the rules after a client update because featured content can rotate.
How to compare two units or formations
When two options appear close, compare them against the map rather than against a universal tier list.

These criteria are practical comparison axes derived from the game’s summon, placement and upgrade loop and from community map advice. They are not published official rankings, and the available sources do not establish measured win rates or performance percentages.
Resource management and the reliable-farm loop
Progress is strongest when every difficult attempt teaches you what to upgrade next. Use this loop:
- Clear the latest stage you can repeat reliably.
- Spend the resulting resources on the carry or the support that directly fixes your observed bottleneck.
- Re-test the next stage with the same formation and one controlled change.
- Advance only when the clear is repeatable, not when one lucky run succeeds.
- Keep the previous farm available so a failed push does not stop resource income.
This approach also limits wasted investment. If an elemental immunity or challenge modifier invalidates a unit, you can farm and develop an alternative instead of repeatedly upgrading an ineffective carry.

Troubleshooting a team that stalls
The carry dies or enemies reach the treasure too quickly
First check whether the route has an uncovered lane or whether a support unit is out of range. If positioning is correct, add control or wider coverage. Only after those checks should you make a large damage investment.
The carry attacks but enemies barely lose health
Inspect the map’s elemental or enemy rule. A later-map immunity may be preventing that damage type from working. Change the damage source and move support to the replacement carry.
The map clears once but fails repeatedly
Step back to the latest reliable farm and upgrade the specific unit responsible for the failure. A repeatable clear is more valuable than a single high-roll victory because it supplies predictable resources.
The formation looks right but the buff is missing
Move the support unit adjacent to the intended attacker and verify the effect during combat. The beginner guide’s Speedy and Mighty placement is a useful pattern, but the current map geometry and the unit’s actual range decide whether it works.
A once-effective team stopped working after an update
Recheck the current map rules, Nightmare availability and rewards, and any Mythical balance or cost changes in the client. Official store update notes show that these details have changed over time, so dated advice may no longer describe the live version.
Keeping advice current
Official listings are the safest place to confirm the game’s current identity and basic mechanics: Apple’s listing and Google Play’s listing identify it as a free mobile game with in-app purchases. Store update notes and the live client should be used for volatile details such as mode availability, rewards, balance and upgrade costs.
Community guides remain valuable for practical positioning ideas, but label them as advice and check their assumptions against your roster. No measured statistic, universal ranking or named expert quotation establishes one objectively best team for every mode. Your strongest evidence is a repeatable clear under the current map rules.
