For original Izuku Midoriya, build around Quirk Skill α for dependable ranged pressure, then use St. Louis Smash (β) to confirm an opening and Blackwhip (γ) to control space or create utility openings. Carry to Safety remains an important team tool when a downed ally must be moved for a revive.
First check which Midoriya you are using. Original Midoriya and Full Bullet are separate Quirk Skill sets with different tactics. The recommendations below keep those kits separate and identify which advice is an editorial baseline rather than a proven universal meta build.

The strongest general-purpose original Midoriya loadout
This is a practical baseline for the original Izuku Midoriya, not a claim that he is universally the best character or that this order has been proven by a win-rate study. It is designed for players who want a clear ranged-pressure plan with a dash option, a projectile utility tool and dependable team support.
Recommended Free Tools
| Ability | Primary job | How to use it |
|---|---|---|
| Quirk Skill α | Routine ranged pressure | Use it to make opponents respect your sightline, punish exposed movement and create the conditions for a safer approach. |
| St. Louis Smash (β) | Commitment and engage | Use the dash when you have a readable opening. Current tracking, recovery and momentum adjustments make the move more forgiving, but they do not guarantee a hit or a follow-up. |
| Blackwhip (γ) | Projectile utility and spacing | Use the faster, larger projectile to contest space or force movement. Its easier knockback can end an interaction rather than automatically setting up another attack. |
| Carry to Safety | Team recovery | Carry a downed ally toward a safer revive location. The current version grants Super Armor while carrying, reduces damage taken and increases knockback resistance. |
If you want one simple rule, spend most neutral exchanges on α, reserve β for an opening you can explain, and use γ when its projectile or spacing value is more important than forcing damage. Carry to Safety changes your priorities when a teammate is down: survival and relocation can be more valuable than chasing one extra hit.

Identify your Midoriya before changing skills
The game has more than one way to play Midoriya. The character select screen and your Quirk Skill Set determine whether the advice in this article applies.
Original Izuku Midoriya
The original set is the focus of the baseline above. Its identity is sustained ranged pressure through α, a dash attack through β and a projectile/utility option through γ. The set also includes Carry to Safety, which is relevant to team revives.
Full Bullet
Full Bullet is a separate Quirk Skill Set. Bandai Namco describes Quirk Skill Set Change as replacing all three Quirk Skills and changing the character’s tactics and playstyle. Full Bullet’s α is a long-range attack delivered in multiple waves. Its β creates an area shockwave that becomes stronger when activated from higher up. Its γ deals area damage and can be held to climb the raised earth and jump.

Its area coverage, high-ground interaction and climbable γ reward different positioning. Do not copy an original-Midoriya α–β–γ leveling plan onto Full Bullet and assume the skills have the same jobs.
The official description confirms that Full Bullet is available from Roll, but it does not establish a current cost or universal availability across every region and platform. Check the in-game Roll screen for the availability shown on your account.
What changed for original Midoriya in patch 1.18.0
The current official 1.18.0 notes materially affect how the original set should be understood.
- St. Louis Smash (β): continuous tracking now carries through the start of the dash, recovery after hitting is reduced, opponents are knocked farther and more easily, and momentum after the dash is increased.
- Blackwhip (γ): the projectile is faster and larger, and it knocks opponents back more easily.
- Carry to Safety: carrying an ally grants Super Armor, reduces damage taken and increases resistance to knockback.
Bandai Namco explained the β adjustment this way: “We observed that Quirk Skill β was harder to land than other dash skills and often left the user open to counterattacks even when it connected.” That explains why the move can now be treated as a more practical engage option than before, but the notes do not promise a guaranteed connection, a guaranteed combo or safety against every response.

The γ changes improve reliability as a projectile. They also make knockback easier, so a successful hit may create separation instead of holding an opponent in place for your next attack. Treat that displacement as information: after γ connects, reassess whether you should continue pressure, reposition or protect a teammate.
Recommended original-Midoriya skill priorities
The official material does not publish a universal skill-level order, exact damage breakpoints or a tuning sheet. The following is an editorial starting point for a general player. Test it in your current version and change the order when your team, mode or preferred engagement distance demands something else.
1. Establish α as your neutral tool
Prioritizing α first is sensible when you want the most repeatable way to influence a fight without committing your body to a dash. Use it to pressure an opponent who is crossing an opening, to interrupt a predictable action or to make a team hold cover while you choose your next angle.
Do not read “ranged pressure” as a promise of a particular range, damage value or level breakpoint. Those figures are not established by the official notes used here. The practical reason to build around α is its role in your decision cycle: it lets you participate before β is safe to spend.

2. Improve β when you need a clearer conversion tool
β is the next logical priority for a player who wants to turn a visible opening into an approach. Current tracking through the dash start, reduced hit recovery and increased momentum make the commitment less awkward than it was previously. The extra knockback can also make a successful connection more useful for disengaging from a dangerous cluster.
Use β after you have a reason to believe the target cannot simply sidestep, punish the recovery or let a teammate intercept you. A dash remains a commitment. The patch makes the move more forgiving; it does not remove the need to choose a target and an exit.
3. Add γ for projectile utility and space control
γ’s larger, faster projectile is easier to present as a real threat during movement. It can make an exposed route unattractive, check an opponent trying to close distance or force a target to give ground while your team changes position.

- Size: The 15cm size ratio is coordinated, the body shape is straight and smooth, the combat suit fits the body shape, and the visual impact is full
- Material: MHA figure is made of high-quality PVC material, which is sturdy and durable, with delicate texture and comfortable hand feel. It is not easy to deform or peel off the paint
- Design: Izuku Midoriya action figures have clear facial contours and delicate facial expressions, with each expression vividly portrayed, perfectly reproducing the character's image in the anime
- Applicable Scenarios: Anime figurines can be used as desktop decorations, MHA statue collections, display cabinet decorations, birthday or holiday gifts
Because the current γ knocks opponents back more easily, plan for the result you actually get. If the hit creates distance, use that distance to reload your plan, protect a revive or move to a better angle. Do not assume that every γ hit automatically confirms β or another attack.

- Choose β earlier if your squad already has reliable ranged pressure and needs you to threaten an approach.
- Choose γ earlier if the match repeatedly turns on holding a doorway, ridge or escape lane rather than chasing a single target.
- Keep α first when you are still learning spacing, when opponents punish missed dashes or when your team needs steady pressure more than explosive commitments.
These are role-based adjustments, not official balance recommendations. No source establishes that one order wins more often in every mode or matchup.
How to play the original kit through a fight
Opening: create pressure before you commit
- Start with information. Identify which opponent is exposed, which teammate is being pressured and where you can retreat if the exchange turns.
- Use α to make movement costly. Fire from a position that lets you see the response. The goal is not to spend every charge immediately; it is to make the enemy reveal whether they will hold, rotate or rush.
- Use γ when its job is clearer than β’s. A projectile that forces a route change can be more valuable than a dash into an uncertain target.
- Commit β only after the opening is legible. The current tracking and momentum help once the dash begins, but you still need a target that cannot comfortably punish the commitment.
Mid-fight: separate pressure from pursuit
After a β connection, check whether the extra knockback has improved your team’s position or moved the opponent away from your follow-up. If your squad can safely continue, keep pressure with the tool that best matches the new distance. If the hit has separated everyone, stop treating the exchange as a guaranteed combo and rebuild your angle with α or γ.
After γ connects, make the same assessment. Easier knockback is valuable when you need breathing room, but it can also remove the target from the exact range you wanted. The strongest response is often a position change rather than an automatic second ability.
Endgame: value survival and space
Late fights are less forgiving of a missed dash because there are fewer safe routes and more opponents able to punish a commitment. Use α to contest a lane, γ to deny a route or create separation, and β when the reward is worth exposing yourself. The improved β recovery helps after a hit; it does not protect you from every third party.
Carry to Safety: build your team plan around it
Carry to Safety is not a damage ability. It is a team-revival tool that changes what a successful play looks like. The latest patch gives Super Armor while carrying, reduces damage taken and increases resistance to knockback, specifically making it harder for opponents to interrupt the carry before the ally reaches a revive opportunity.
When to use it
- Use it when moving the ally a short distance will put the revive outside the enemy’s immediate line of attack.
- Use it when your team can create a screen with pressure while you relocate the downed player.
- Use it after γ or β has created separation, provided the area is actually safer and not merely farther away.
What it does not mean
Super Armor is not invulnerability, and increased knockback resistance is not a guarantee that you can cross an open area under concentrated fire. The carry still requires a judgment about timing, route and teammate support. If the path is exposed and no ally can discourage the chase, abandoning the carry may preserve the remaining team and create a later revive chance.

Full Bullet: a different loadout philosophy
Full Bullet should be approached as an area-control and vertical-positioning set rather than as a faster version of the original kit.
Full Bullet α: long-range multi-wave pressure
The multi-wave pattern gives α a different rhythm from the original ranged-pressure tool. Use it to influence a longer sightline, test whether an opponent can hold a position and make repeated movement choices expensive. Because the official description does not provide current damage, range or level breakpoints, do not build a numerical claim around it.

β is an area shockwave whose strength improves when activated from higher up. Height is therefore part of the ability’s value, not a minor convenience. Before spending it, ask whether your elevation gives the shockwave a meaningful advantage and whether the landing area leaves you exposed to a counterattack.
The official 1.15.0 notes also describe a two-stage height behavior for Full Bullet β. That makes vertical context even more important, but the material available here does not support a complete version-specific leveling order. Use the in-game behavior and current notes to verify how your patch handles each stage.
Full Bullet γ: area damage, climbing and jumps
Full Bullet γ deals area damage and can be held to climb the raised earth and jump. That creates both an offensive zone and a movement decision. You can use the raised terrain to change elevation, escape a bad line or reach a more useful position, but holding the skill for movement may mean giving up immediate area pressure.
A practical Full Bullet loop
- Look for a position where elevation can improve β rather than activating it on flat ground by habit.
- Use α to influence the long lane and make opponents move before they can organize.
- Use γ when area damage or a climb is more valuable than preserving the skill for a later escape.
- After changing height, reassess sightlines before repeating the sequence; Full Bullet’s value comes from controlling where the fight happens.
This is a tactical framework, not a claim that Full Bullet is stronger than original Midoriya. The official descriptions establish different functions, not a quantitative head-to-head ranking.

Common build mistakes and corrections
Mistake: mixing the two skill sets
If you call Full Bullet β a dash or expect original γ behavior from Full Bullet γ, your plan is built on the wrong kit. Confirm the active Quirk Skill Set before changing priorities.
Mistake: treating patch buffs as guaranteed combos
Improved tracking, recovery, projectile speed and projectile size increase consistency. They do not establish a guaranteed hit sequence. Continue to account for dodges, interruption and third-party pressure.
Mistake: using every tool for damage
γ can create space, and Carry to Safety can win time for a revive. A lower-damage action that preserves your team may be the correct action in a contested fight.

Mistake: following an upgrade order without checking your role
The α–β–γ order is an editorial baseline. Change it when your squad already supplies ranged pressure, when you need a safer disengage or when the battlefield repeatedly rewards area control.
Mistake: assuming old patch advice is current
Balance is volatile. Recheck the latest official patch notes after a major update, especially before treating a skill interaction or priority as settled.
A concise decision checklist
- Am I using original Midoriya or Full Bullet?
- What is my immediate job: ranged pressure, an engage, space control or a revive?
- Do I have a clear reason to spend β, or am I dashing because it is available?
- Will γ’s knockback help my team, or will it remove the target from a useful follow-up?
- If an ally is down, can Carry to Safety reach a genuinely safer revive route?
- Does the current patch still match the assumptions behind my skill priorities?
What is and is not established about a “best” Deku build
The strongest defensible recommendation is a role-based baseline: original Midoriya uses α for ordinary ranged pressure, β for a considered dash engage, γ for projectile utility and Carry to Safety for team recovery. Full Bullet requires a separate plan built around multi-wave range, high-ground β and area/climbing γ.
There is no official universal skill-level order, tuning sheet, matchup guide or tested performance ranking in the material supporting this guide. Treat the upgrade order and fight sequences as practical starting points, then adapt them to your mode, squad composition, preferred Midoriya variant and current patch.
