Save each product-price observation as its own dated image in Google Drive, then use consistent filenames—and optionally a Google Sheet—to find and compare captures later. A screenshot records what appeared on the page at the time you captured it; it does not prove that every shopper could get that price or that taxes, shipping, or eligibility conditions were included.
Choose a simple archive structure
In Google Drive, create a folder in My Drive named Product Price Archive. You can keep every screenshot in that folder, or add a small number of subfolders—for example, by year, retailer, or product category—if that makes retrieval easier. Google Drive Help says, “There is no correct way to organize your files in Drive”; use a layout you can maintain.

For occasional captures, one folder and meaningful filenames are usually enough. If you track many products or retailers, add a Sheet index as described below rather than building a deep folder tree.
Capture the product page with useful context
Use the screenshot function on your phone or computer to capture enough of the page to identify the product and show its displayed price. Include the retailer name, visible date, promotion, or offer terms when they appear and matter. Avoid cropping away details that could change how a reader interprets the price, such as a member-only condition or a selected product variant.

Capture controls vary by device. Google’s AdSense Help guide describes using Android screenshot controls and, on Chromebook, pressing Ctrl + Show windows (or Ctrl + F5 on a non-ChromeOS keyboard); it says Chromebook screenshots are saved as PNG files in Downloads. For Windows and Mac, consult the support instructions for the operating system rather than assuming a shortcut works everywhere: Google’s screenshot guide.
Upload one image for each price observation
- Open the archive folder in Drive.
- Select New > File upload, then choose the screenshot. You can also upload a folder of screenshots you have already captured.
- Keep each distinct observation as a separate file. Do not replace an earlier image with a newer price capture; separate files make the sequence easier to understand.
Google’s Drive help covers uploading files and folders at How to use Google Drive.
Use a consistent, date-first filename
A practical pattern is YYYY-MM-DD_product-or-model_retailer_price.png. For example: 2026-10-03_acme-model-7_example-store_49-99.png. Use a format that is short, meaningful, and consistent; include the price only if it is useful and unambiguous. If the image shows a currency or condition that a filename cannot express clearly, preserve that information in the screenshot or index instead. Do not put sensitive account details in filenames.

Date-first names make captures sort chronologically by name and are easier to scan in a folder. Google recommends meaningful names and offers no required naming scheme. See Organize your files in Google Drive – Computer.
Add a Google Sheet index when comparison matters
A Sheet is optional: the images themselves are the archive. An index becomes useful when you need to compare numerous observations across products or retailers. Create one row per screenshot, with columns such as:

Find and compare earlier captures
Search Drive using a product, retailer, or filename term. Narrow results with filters such as file type, modified date, or location, and sort the folder by name or another available column. With date-first filenames, sorting by name can provide a simple timeline. If you keep a Sheet index, filter its rows by product, retailer, or date and open the linked images to inspect the page context.

Keep important records from depending on file versions
Drive activity can show actions such as uploads, moves, renames, and shares. Google distinguishes version history for Docs, Sheets, and Slides from versions of images and PDFs. Its help page says an older file version may be removed after 30 days or 100 newer versions unless you choose to keep it forever. Those thresholds describe Drive’s documented version behavior; they are not a reason to overwrite screenshots. Keeping a separate dated image for every observation is clearer for a price timeline. See Check activity & file versions – Computer.

If the archive matters, keep a second copy outside the working folder or account. Google Takeout can export Drive data, but Google notes that exports may fail for files over maximum size and some work or school account data may not be available. If you want a screenshot from a URL without setting up a browser capture workflow, ScreenshotNeo is a website screenshot API and MCP server. One GET request can return a PNG, JPEG, WebP, or PDF. Its cleanup options accept cookie and consent banners and remove 60+ known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before capture; each cleanup step can be turned off. Bot checks or CAPTCHAs, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits cost nothing, and responses identify the page verdict and billing status in headers.

Common problems and fixes
- The price is visible, but the offer context is missing. Capture more of the page so the item, selected option, retailer, and visible conditions can be interpreted together. Record details not shown in the image in your Sheet.
- Drive search returns too many files. Include product or retailer terms in the filename, then narrow by file type, date, or folder location.
- Captures appear out of order. Use the same date-first format for every filename. If timing matters, include time and timezone in the Sheet index.
- An older image version is not a dependable timeline. Keep each observation as a new image file instead of replacing an existing screenshot.
- A Takeout export is incomplete or unavailable. Google notes size and work/school-account limitations; check the export settings and keep a separate backup for important records.
What the archive can and cannot establish
A well-organized archive lets you revisit what a product page displayed in a particular captured context. It cannot, by itself, show whether the price remained available, was available to all customers, or included shipping, taxes, or eligibility requirements. Preserve visible terms and capture times so later comparisons do not imply more than the image shows.
