Warhammer has announced the imminent Battletome: Khazalite Holds, which keeps Fyreslayers units in the wider faction while moving Vulkite Berzerkers and several older heroes and faction assets toward Warhammer Legends. Build around Hearthguard, Vulkyn Flameseekers, Magmadroth-mounted characters and the new Khazalite Holds roster, then confirm the released battletome, battle profiles and event pack before buying models or submitting a list.
What changed before you start building
All-Fyreslayers armies remain possible
Warhammer’s 9 October 2026 announcement says you can still field an army made entirely from Fyreslayers units. You can do that by selecting Fyreslayers units in the normal way or by choosing the Fyrd of Fyrepeak Army of Renown, if that army’s final rules meet the requirements of your game. This is important for collectors who do not want to add unrelated units simply to make a legal force.

The announcement does not provide the complete released rules, final points or every army-construction restriction. Treat it as a direction of travel rather than a finished list-building document. Once Battletome: Khazalite Holds and its updated battle profiles are available, use those documents as the authority for unit eligibility, enhancements, battle traits, points and matched-play restrictions.
Several familiar models are moving to Legends
Warhammer says the following are moving to Warhammer Legends: Vulkite Berzerkers, Auric Runemaster, Battlesmith, Doomseeker, Grimwrath Berzerker, Magmic Battleforge and Magmic Invocations. The affected models are not immediately unusable. The announcement says they remain usable in competitive events for one year after the new book releases before moving into Legends. The exact release date, the end of that period and each event’s policy still need to be checked against the released book and tournament pack.

That makes Vulkite Berzerkers a poor choice for a new, future-proof core purchase unless you specifically like the models, are building for casual games, or already own them. Existing owners can continue using them during the stated transition and in any setting that permits Legends afterward.
The announced direction is more elite
Warhammer describes the incoming force as shifting toward an elite army. Hearthguard and Vulkyn Flameseekers are presented as the infantry foundation, supported by Magmadroths and characters. That is the publisher’s description of the new faction direction, not a verified tournament ranking. Do not assume that an elite-looking army is automatically stronger, cheaper or easier to play until the final rules and points are published.
Decide what kind of army you are building
Set the game format first
There is no universally correct Fyreslayers list or single points limit established by the available official material. Before choosing units, answer four questions:
- Are you playing a casual game, a club league or a specific matched-play event?
- What points limit and battlepack does that game use?
- Which Fyreslayers models do you already own?
- Are you willing to expand into the wider Khazalite Holds range after the battletome releases?
A list for a 1,000-point learning game has different priorities from a 2,000-point event roster. A collection built around several Magmadroths also plays differently from a foot army using multiple Hearthguard units. Decide those constraints before treating any points table as a shopping list.
Use the newest rules available on the date you play
The April 2026 Fyreslayers battle profiles are a dated snapshot. They predate the 9 October battletome announcement and may be replaced when Battletome: Khazalite Holds and new profiles arrive. If your event takes place after release, the new book and current official downloads take precedence over the older values reproduced below.

Units in the announced Khazalite Holds roster
Warhammer’s announcement names the following Fyreslayers units for the new battletome. Their final warscrolls, points and restrictions should be confirmed after release.
| Unit | Announced status | Likely list role | Building guidance |
|---|---|---|---|
| Auric Runefather on Magmadroth | Retained in the announced roster | Large mounted leader and combat anchor | Use as the centre of a Magmadroth-led force; verify final points and command rules. |
| Auric Runeson on Magmadroth | Retained in the announced roster | Mounted combat character | Suitable for a second-dinosaur style of army or a force that wants multiple independent threats. |
| Auric Runesmiter on Magmadroth | Retained in the announced roster | Mounted hero and utility piece | Check the new book for movement, deployment and support interactions before assigning it a fixed job. |
| Auric Runefather | Retained in the announced roster | Foot command character | Pairs naturally with infantry when a Magmadroth is not the list’s main investment. |
| Auric Runeson | Retained in the announced roster | Foot combat character | Consider when you need another hero without paying for a mounted chassis. |
| Auric Runesmiter | Retained in the announced roster | Foot utility character | Reserve a hero slot for its final rules rather than relying on the April profile. |
| Auric Flamekeeper | Retained in the announced roster | Infantry support character | Evaluate its buffs alongside the final Hearthguard and Flameseeker warscrolls. |
| Grimhold Exile | Retained in the announced roster | Specialist hero | Use only after checking the new points and whether its abilities reward a particular unit mix. |
| Vulkyn Flameseekers | Retained in the announced roster | Mobile or aggressive infantry | Make them one of the first infantry units you examine for a new collection. |
| Auric Hearthguard | Retained in the announced roster | Elite infantry and bodyguard-style core | Build around one or more units according to the final warscroll and unit size. |
| Hearthguard Berzerkers | Retained in the announced roster | Elite melee infantry | Compare Berzerker weapon options only after the new profiles establish their costs and rules. |
| Ormyr and Ashtongue | New characters named in the announcement | New support or command options | Do not assign them a battlefield job until their complete warscrolls are published. |
| Gotrek Gurnisson | Mentioned as an honourable inclusion | Named special character option | Check his current rules and any army restrictions before including him. |
The table deliberately separates announced availability from confirmed rules. “Retained” means named by Warhammer for the incoming battletome; it does not guarantee a particular warscroll, points value or matched-play role.
A practical order for constructing the army
1. Choose the army’s anchor
Start with one clear plan instead of buying one of everything. A Magmadroth-led force spends a large share of its points and model budget on mounted heroes, then uses infantry to hold objectives and protect the army’s board position. An infantry-led force puts more of its first purchases into Hearthguard and Flameseekers and adds foot characters that improve the units you expect to keep near them.
The Auric Runefather on Magmadroth, Auric Runeson on Magmadroth and Auric Runesmiter on Magmadroth are all named in the incoming roster. You do not need all three in a first collection. Pick the mounted model whose final rules fit the role you want, then leave room for enough infantry to play the mission rather than spending every point on heroes.
2. Add a durable infantry core
Use Hearthguard units as the first infantry question. Auric Hearthguard and Hearthguard Berzerkers are both retained in the announcement, giving the new force an elite foot core. Decide whether your army needs units that protect a character, units that trade in melee or a mixture of both. Unit size, weapon profiles and points may change, so delay a large purchase until the current profiles are available if you are not already committed to the models.

- Miniatures Box Set
Vulkyn Flameseekers are also retained and are specifically part of Warhammer’s description of the incoming infantry direction. Their presence can give an infantry army a different operating pattern from a line made entirely of Hearthguard, but the final warscroll should determine whether they are a screen, a pressure unit, a scoring unit or something else.
3. Select support characters after the core
Characters should solve a problem in the units you already chose. An Auric Flamekeeper may be attractive for an infantry-focused plan, while a foot Runefather, Runeson or Runesmiter can supply command or utility without adding another large model. Grimhold Exile, Ormyr and Ashtongue need their released warscrolls before you can accurately judge their place.
Avoid filling every hero slot before checking the army’s battle tactics, enhancements and unit requirements. Fyreslayers armies can become model-light when too many points are spent on characters, leaving too few units to contest several objectives at once.
4. Choose the army structure permitted by your event
If you use normal Fyreslayers selection, confirm the exact faction and unit eligibility in the released battletome. If you choose the Fyrd of Fyrepeak Army of Renown, read its complete restrictions before buying models: an Army of Renown can change which units, enhancements or formations are legal. Do not assume that every unit named in the general battletome can be used in that sub-list.
5. Recalculate when the new profiles arrive
Build a provisional roster in a spreadsheet or list builder, but label every pre-release value clearly. Replace every provisional cost with the current official profile, then check the points limit, unit sizes, duplicate-unit limits, battle formation rules and enhancement choices. A list that was legal under April profiles can become illegal when the new battletome changes any one of those elements.

April 2026 points: useful reference, not a current buying guide
The following values come from the official April 2026 Fyreslayers battle profiles. They are game roster values, not real-world statistics. Because the profiles predate the Khazalite Holds announcement, use this table to understand the former scale of units only; do not present it as the current cost of a post-battletome army.

The same April material included Warrior Kinband, Forge Brethren, Scales of Vulcatrix and Lords of the Lodge battle formations, Zharrgrim Blessings prayer lore, Magmic Invocations and the Magmic Battleforge. The October announcement places the Invocations and Battleforge among the assets moving to Legends, so treat those entries as part of the old rules snapshot rather than foundations for a new purchase.
Using the Scourge of Aqshy seasonal warscroll
What Seeing Red does
The seasonal Auric Runeson on Magmadroth warscroll published for Scourge of Aqshy includes Seeing Red. Once per turn in any combat phase, the model spends one rage die to choose one of the listed effects: improve the attack count of its Companion melee weapons, heal an amount tied to its fury level, or gain a 5+ ward for the rest of the turn. The choice lets the model convert its current resource into extra offense, recovery or temporary protection.
The precise wording and timing on the current download should be read before play. Do not infer the healing amount or other interactions from a summary when the event requires the full warscroll.

Warhammer’s season overview states that Scourge of Aqshy warscrolls are legal in Matched Play for the 2026–27 season. When building the roster, choose either the seasonal warscroll or the existing warscroll for a unit. You cannot select both versions of the same unit in one army.
Best Value
Check the exact battlepack and official downloads for your event. A store league, campaign or tournament may use a different season, restrict seasonal content or publish a later FAQ. Record which version you selected on the army list so opponents and judges can verify it quickly.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Three starting frameworks
Magmadroth-led force
- Choose one mounted hero as the army’s main anchor.
- Add enough Hearthguard or Flameseekers to hold objectives while the Magmadroth attacks a vulnerable flank.
- Use a second mounted character only if the final points leave enough units to score missions.
- Confirm whether the seasonal Runeson warscroll is legal and worthwhile for your event before choosing it.
Infantry-first force
- Begin with Auric Hearthguard, Hearthguard Berzerkers and/or Vulkyn Flameseekers according to the released unit rules.
- Add a foot hero whose abilities affect the units you actually intend to keep together.
- Use a Magmadroth later as an expansion rather than forcing one into a points limit that cannot support it.
- Plan movement lanes and objective coverage; elite infantry can be durable but still struggle to occupy several places at once.
Fyrd of Fyrepeak Army of Renown
- Read the complete Army of Renown entry before assembling the collection around it.
- List its mandatory units, optional units, enhancements and any restrictions separately from the normal faction roster.
- Check whether the event permits that army type and whether seasonal warscrolls interact with it as expected.
- Keep a normal Khazalite Holds roster as a fallback if the Army of Renown is not legal at your venue.
What to do with an existing collection
Keep models that remain in the announced roster
Magmadroth-mounted heroes, foot Auric heroes, Grimhold Exile, Auric Flamekeeper, Auric Hearthguard, Hearthguard Berzerkers and Vulkyn Flameseekers are all named in the incoming roster. Their final rules may change, but the announcement gives those collections a clear path into the new book.
Use transitioning units deliberately
Do not throw away Vulkite Berzerkers, Runemasters, Battlesmiths, Doomseekers, Grimwrath Berzerkers, the Battleforge or Magmic Invocations simply because they are moving to Legends. Use them during the announced competitive transition, in casual games, or in events that permit Legends. For a new competitive collection, however, buy them only with the understanding that their long-term event legality is limited.

When the new profiles arrive, first rewrite the army list using current units and points. Then decide whether a model needs a new battlefield role, a different unit attachment or a Legends roster. This prevents a familiar April 2026 list from being carried forward unchanged after its support pieces have left the main book.
Buying and assembling models without locking yourself in
Delay large purchases until the battletome is available
The announcement calls the battletome imminent but does not establish release timing, regional stock, prices or kit contents. Before placing an order, verify the current product listing, the models included in the kit and whether the unit appears in the released faction rules. A Magmadroth-mounted hero is a sensible physical starting point only when you have confirmed that the particular kit and current warscroll suit your intended army.
Build weapon options with the final warscroll beside you
The April profiles listed separate Hearthguard Berzerker weapon configurations and two Vulkite configurations. If you are assembling older kits, keep options interchangeable where practical until the new book confirms which weapons, unit sizes and command models are legal. Magnetising a prominent hero or preserving spare weapon parts can be more useful than committing every model to a pre-release assumption.
Paint in expandable batches
Complete one playable infantry unit and one leader before buying a full collection. That gives you a legal starting force, reveals how much table space the army occupies and lets you test whether you prefer a mounted or infantry-led play style. Add the next unit only after checking the updated points and the missions you expect to play.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteCommon mistakes and fixes
- Building from an old internet list: replace it with the released Khazalite Holds profiles and current points.
- Treating April points as permanent: label them as the April 2026 snapshot and recalculate after release.
- Buying Vulkites as a future-proof core: remember their announced move to Legends and the one-year competitive transition.
- Mixing seasonal and existing warscrolls: choose one version for each unit; do not include both in the same army.
- Spending the whole points allowance on heroes: reserve enough units to score objectives and play the mission.
- Assuming every announced unit works in the Army of Renown: follow the Fyrd of Fyrepeak restrictions rather than the general roster.
- Ignoring the event pack: verify whether the venue uses 2026–27 Matched Play, permits Legends or allows seasonal warscrolls.
- Confusing publisher direction with proof of power: Warhammer’s “more elite” description is a design description, not a tournament result.
Final pre-game checklist
- Confirm whether Battletome: Khazalite Holds has released and download the latest official battle profiles.
- Write down the event’s points limit, battlepack, season and Legends policy.
- Choose normal Fyreslayers selection or the Fyrd of Fyrepeak Army of Renown.
- Mark every unit as current battletome, seasonal warscroll or Legends.
- Choose either the existing or Scourge of Aqshy warscroll for any unit with both versions.
- Recalculate points using the current profiles rather than the April 2026 table.
- Check unit sizes, duplicate limits, enhancements, battle formations and command abilities in the released book.
- Bring the exact warscroll versions used on the roster, especially for the Auric Runeson on Magmadroth.
The safest 2026 approach is to begin with the units Warhammer has named for the new book—Hearthguard, Vulkyn Flameseekers, Magmadroth-mounted heroes and the retained characters—while treating older points and Legends assets as transitional information. That keeps an existing collection playable without pretending that a pre-release list is the finished Khazalite Holds army.
