You should not build a database by automatically collecting agent information from Redfin unless you first obtain prior express written permission from the applicable Redfin company. Redfin’s current Terms of Use prohibit automated crawling or querying to obtain information without that permission, and its Services Addendum restricts copying, redistribution, scraping, and data mining of MLS-derived information. You can use Redfin’s directory to find agents individually; that is different from having authorization to compile or reuse their information at scale.
What Redfin lets you find
Redfin’s agent directory is designed for consumer discovery. You can search by city or ZIP code, or search by an agent’s name, then open individual profiles. Redfin says profiles may include transaction history, customer reviews, and contact information. An agent’s team number or an “Ask a Question” box may also appear on a profile or listing page. Redfin’s Terms of Use, updated September 29, 2025, section 2.3.5, state: “You may not automatedly crawl or query the Services for any purpose or by any means (including, without limitation, screen and database scraping, spiders, robots, crawlers and any other automated activity with the purpose of obtaining information from the Services) unless you have received prior express written permission from the applicable Redfin Company.”

The Services Addendum further describes Redfin information as intended for personal, non-commercial use and restricts copying, redistribution, retransmission, scraping, data mining, and activity intended to collect, store, reorganize, summarize, or manipulate information or related data. It also notes that MLSs own their listing data. Do not treat a publicly viewable profile, manual access, or an agent-support email address as authorization to collect, store, or reuse records in bulk.
How to proceed if you need an agent database
- Define the use. Write down the intended audience, geography, fields, whether records will be shared or sold, and whether you plan to contact agents. Collection permission and reuse permission are separate questions to settle before building the database.
- Request written authorization. Contact the applicable Redfin company and obtain prior express written permission before automatedly crawling or querying its services. Ask specifically what fields, collection methods, volume, retention, redistribution, and business uses are allowed.
- Check data-owner conditions. Because Redfin says MLSs own listing data and its addendum restricts use of MLS-derived information, confirm any applicable MLS or other data-owner conditions as well as Redfin’s permission.
- Choose an authorized source and document provenance. For every field, record where it came from, the permission or terms covering it, when it was checked, and any limits on reuse. The sources reviewed here do not establish a particular alternative provider or public-record source as approved for this purpose.
- Verify and maintain records. Where your authorized workflow permits it, verify agent identity, brokerage, license status, contact details, and geographic coverage against independently authorized authoritative sources. Set a review cadence and retain the checked date so stale information is not presented as current.
What a reliable database should record
Keep the database’s structure tied to documented permissions and verification, rather than copying every visible profile detail. A practical record design can include:

- Identity: agent name and a stable internal record ID, with the verification source noted.
- Professional details: brokerage, license status, service geography, and the authoritative source and date checked for each item.
- Contact details: only fields your source terms and applicable rules permit you to retain and use.
- Provenance and rights: source, collection date, permission reference, permitted purposes, retention limits, and any redistribution restrictions.
- Maintenance: last verified date, next review date, and a correction or removal process.
Redfin says listing data comes directly from the MLS and advises that changes be made in the MLS, after which MLS-powered websites update. Redfin also warns in section 2.9.7 of its Terms of Use: “Redfin makes no guarantees as to the reliability, accuracy, or up to date nature of any information from MLS sources.” Treat a profile as a discovery lead, not a guarantee that every detail is current.

Support questions are not bulk-data permission
Redfin’s Agent FAQ directs non-Redfin agents with questions about the Open Book directory or editing a profile to [email protected]. That is a support contact for profile or directory questions, not documented permission for bulk collection or export. Redfin’s privacy policy describes a separate consumer request flow: when a user submits a request through Redfin, the user authorizes Redfin to share personal information such as contact details, search history, favorites, and saved searches with a real estate professional to respond. That consumer authorization does not authorize compiling agent profiles or contact details.
