Crashes, No Sound, or Screen Glitches?
Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteWindows Errors? Fix Them Before They Spread
Repair common Windows errors and clear accumulated junk for a smoother, more stable PC - no reinstall needed.Free scan · no reinstallThe safest way to build a first browser game with Claude is to keep the release small, ask for one coherent change at a time, inspect every generated file, and test the actual game in browsers before publishing. A single-player game that runs entirely in the browser can usually be deployed as a static site. HTTPS, a deliberately scoped Content Security Policy (CSP), dependency review, and a check for secrets in the shipped files turn a quick prototype into a safer public release.
Choose a game you can inspect
Claude can draft a surprising amount of JavaScript, HTML, and CSS quickly, but generated code is not a substitute for a defined design or a reviewable scope. Start with a game loop that has one objective, a small number of controls, a clear win or loss condition, and one reliable way to restart.

Write the game contract first
Before asking for implementation, write a short contract in your project notes. Include:
- Objective: what the player is trying to accomplish.
- Controls: keyboard keys, pointer actions, touch gestures, or a combination.
- State: the values that describe a running game, such as score, timer, player position, lives, and whether the game is active.
- Win and loss rules: the exact event that ends a round.
- Restart behavior: whether restart resets the score, timer, random seed, and stored settings.
- Rendering target: ordinary DOM elements, a canvas, or another browser-supported approach.
A compact first release might be a timed maze, a one-screen dodging game, or a matching game. Avoid accounts, live multiplayer, payments, and shared leaderboards until the local game is stable. Those features introduce server, identity, data-protection, and abuse concerns that a client-only deployment cannot solve.

Set up Claude and the project
Use Anthropic’s current Set up Claude Code documentation for installation, supported operating systems, authentication, and credential handling. Those details can change, so do not copy an old installation command from an unverified tutorial. Authenticate through the account route supported by the current documentation, then open Claude Code from the game’s project directory.
Keep the initial project deliberately plain
For a small game, begin with a minimal structure that is easy to read:
index.htmlfor the document and accessible controls.styles.cssfor layout, visual states, and responsive behavior.game.jsfor state, input, the update loop, collision or rule checks, and rendering.- An
assets/directory only when images, audio, or fonts are genuinely needed. - A short
READMEdescribing how to run, test, and build the game.
A build tool can be useful later, but every additional package expands the review surface. Ask Claude to explain why a dependency is needed before accepting it. A dependency that merely saves a few lines may not be worth an extra update path or a broader CSP allowlist.
Give Claude constraints, not just a vague idea
A useful first prompt states the contract and asks for a plan before code. For example:
Build a single-player browser game in this existing project. Use plain HTML, CSS, and JavaScript unless a dependency is necessary. The player moves with the arrow keys and on-screen buttons, collects five targets before a 60-second timer ends, sees a win or loss message, and can restart without reloading. Keep all game logic client-side. First inspect the files, propose a small implementation plan, and list any files you would change. Do not add analytics, remote requests, or new packages without explaining why.
This prompt gives Claude a bounded task, an input requirement, a restart requirement, and a prohibition on unnecessary network behavior. Ask it to describe assumptions and identify files it will touch. A plan is easier to challenge than a large, unexplained patch.
Build in short, reviewable passes
Anthropic’s prompting guidance favors clear instructions and verification. Apply that principle by completing one coherent layer at a time rather than requesting a complete game and accepting a large patch blindly.
Pass 1: document structure and accessibility
Ask Claude to create the page shell: a heading, instructions, a game region, status text, a restart button, and touch controls if the design requires them. The game region should have an appropriate label, and status changes should be exposed to assistive technology where practical. Keep the restart control available after a win or loss instead of hiding it behind a screen-only interaction.

Pass 2: rendering without rules
Next, ask for the visual representation only: player, targets, obstacles, score display, and timer display. Decide whether the game uses positioned DOM elements or a canvas. DOM elements are often easier to inspect and label; canvas can be efficient for many moving objects but requires more deliberate keyboard, focus, and alternative-status handling.
Ask Claude to keep coordinates and dimensions in one coordinate system and to separate drawing from state updates. Then resize the browser and confirm that the play area remains usable on a narrow screen.
Pass 3: input and state
Add one input path at a time. Start with keyboard input, then add pointer or touch controls if they are part of the contract. Have Claude implement a small state model such as ready, running, won, and lost. Explicit states prevent a common failure in generated games: the timer continues after the player has already won, or a second start creates a second animation loop.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Ask for input cleanup when the game ends. Key handlers should not move a finished player, and a restart should clear old listeners or reuse a single listener rather than stacking duplicates.
Pass 4: update loop and rules
Only after rendering and input work should you add the update loop. Ask Claude to explain:
- How time is measured and how the timer reaches zero.
- How collisions or matches are detected.
- What happens when a target is collected or an obstacle is hit.
- How the animation loop stops on win, loss, tab inactivity, and restart.
- Which values are reset between rounds.
Use one animation loop per running game. If a restart appears to make the game faster, duplicate timers or animation callbacks are a likely cause. Inspect the code rather than attempting to hide the symptom with a delay.
Pass 5: polish after correctness
Request visual polish only after the core loop works. Ask for responsive sizing, readable contrast, reduced-motion handling where animation is prominent, and clear feedback for hits, wins, and losses. Keep effects local and understandable. A large visual rewrite can obscure a logic regression, so review it separately from rule changes.
Review every generated change
Anthropic’s security guidance recommends reviewing suggested changes, using project-specific permissions for sensitive repositories, considering development containers for isolation, and auditing permissions. Treat a game project with the same discipline even when it looks harmless.

Inspect the diff and the dependency tree
For each Claude change, verify:
- Only the files needed for the requested feature changed.
- No package, script, remote font, image host, telemetry endpoint, or iframe appeared without an explicit reason.
- Event listeners, timers, and animation callbacks are created and removed predictably.
- User-controlled text is not inserted as executable HTML. Prefer text assignment for labels and scores.
- Randomness, score values, and win conditions are not trusted as proof of anything on a server, because this client can be modified by the player.
- Build scripts do not execute downloaded content or write outside the project.
Ask Claude to explain a change in plain language, then read the affected code yourself. If the explanation and implementation disagree, stop and resolve the disagreement before continuing.
Use least privilege while Claude works
Do not grant broad access to unrelated repositories, secret stores, production credentials, or personal files. Use the permission controls documented for your Claude Code setup. A development container can provide an additional boundary when the project or its tooling is unfamiliar. Permissions reduce accidental damage; they do not make unreviewed code trustworthy.
Keep secrets out of a browser game
Anything bundled into a client-side game can be downloaded and inspected by every player. Never place private API keys, database passwords, signing keys, or privileged tokens in HTML, JavaScript, source maps, or configuration files delivered to the browser. If a feature needs a secret, move that operation behind a server you control and send the browser only the minimum result it needs.
Recommended Free Tools
Test the game in a real browser
Generated-code confidence is not a test result. Anthropic’s prompting guidance notes that browser or computer tools can help verify UI work, but a person still needs to exercise the published behavior. Test the actual input devices you claim to support.
Run a repeatable functional checklist
- Load the page with the browser console open and note errors before starting.
- Start a round using the documented control.
- Use every keyboard command, including key combinations if supported.
- Use each touch or pointer control on a real narrow viewport or device.
- Trigger the win condition and confirm the timer, controls, and message enter the correct final state.
- Trigger the loss condition and confirm that movement and scoring stop.
- Press restart repeatedly, including immediately after a win or loss. Confirm that only one timer and one animation loop run.
- Reload the page and verify that it starts in the intended initial state.
- Resize the window and rotate a phone or emulator. Look for clipped controls, unreadable text, and play areas that become impossible to use.
- Run with keyboard-only navigation and check visible focus, button labels, and status updates.
Use the browser’s network panel to identify unexpected requests. A game advertised as client-only should not quietly contact an unknown endpoint. Check the console for blocked resources, deprecation messages, and errors that occur only after several rounds.
Test failure cases, not only the happy path
- Start with the window very narrow.
- Hold a movement key rather than tapping it.
- Click restart several times in quick succession.
- Switch tabs during a round and return later.
- Reload while an asset is still loading.
- Disable network access after the initial page load if the game is meant to be self-contained.
- Use a browser with reduced-motion preferences enabled.
Record the browser, device class, and steps for each defect. Then give Claude one defect at a time, including the expected and actual behavior. Ask for a minimal fix and a regression test or manual check, not an unrelated redesign.
Choose the right deployment model
A fully client-side game can be published as static files: HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and assets are delivered to the browser. Static hosting does not, by itself, provide accounts, protected secrets, persistent shared state, authoritative multiplayer rules, or a secure place to run private code.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
| Game requirement | Static deployment | Additional server architecture |
|---|---|---|
| Single-player rules and local score | Fits, provided all assets are shipped with the site | Not required |
| Saved progress for one player | Browser storage can hold local data, but it is user-controlled and device-specific | Needed for account-linked or synchronized saves |
| Private API credentials | Does not fit; browser-delivered files are public | Use a server-side operation that keeps the credential private |
| Shared leaderboard | Not authoritative; client-submitted scores can be altered | Use a server that validates submissions and stores results |
| Authoritative multiplayer | Not sufficient | Requires networking, synchronization, validation, and abuse controls |
| Current provider price and service limits | Not established here | Not established here; check the provider’s current terms |
GitHub Pages documents HTTPS enforcement and mixed-content concerns, making it a useful example of the checks a static host should expose. It is not evidence that every host has the same controls, custom-domain process, limits, or deployment workflow. Before choosing a host, read its current documentation for HTTPS, custom domains, build permissions, redirects, headers, and rollback options.

Publish the static build safely
Prepare a production directory
Publish only the files the game needs. Exclude local environment files, editor settings that reveal personal paths, test credentials, package caches, and unneeded source maps if they expose information you do not intend to publish. Source maps are not automatically unsafe, but they make shipped source easier to inspect, so decide deliberately.
Use relative or same-origin asset paths where possible. Confirm that capitalization matches the deployed filenames; a path that works on a case-insensitive development machine can fail on a case-sensitive host.
Require HTTPS for the document and every asset
MDN recommends HTTPS for pages and their subresources. Check the deployed URL in the address bar, then inspect every script, stylesheet, image, font, audio file, and network request in the browser’s network panel. An HTTPS page that requests an HTTP asset creates mixed content; browsers may block it or expose the connection to tampering.
Replace HTTP asset URLs with HTTPS or, preferably for a small game, serve the asset from the same origin. Do not dismiss a mixed-content warning because the blocked file appears non-sensitive. A missing stylesheet, font, or script can change the game’s behavior, and an insecure subresource weakens the page’s security boundary.
Define a CSP that matches the game
Content Security Policy restricts which resources a browser may load and can reduce the impact of some cross-site scripting attacks. The normal delivery method is an HTTP response header. When server configuration is unavailable on a static host, a meta element can provide a useful subset of CSP controls, but it is not equivalent to configuring the response header in every situation.
Start with the resources the game actually uses. A minimal same-origin example for a game with no inline script, no plugins, and no network API might look like this:
<meta http-equiv='Content-Security-Policy' content="default-src 'self'; script-src 'self'; style-src 'self'; img-src 'self' data:; font-src 'self'; connect-src 'self'; object-src 'none'; base-uri 'none'; frame-ancestors 'none'">
The example is a starting point, not a universal drop-in policy. If the game uses audio, a separate asset origin, a web worker, a WebSocket, or inline styles generated by a framework, the policy must account for that exact behavior. Avoid adding broad sources such as arbitrary domains, unsafe-inline, or unsafe-eval merely to silence a console warning. Refactor the code or add the narrowest required source, then retest.
Test a proposed policy in report-only mode when your host supports it, or apply it first to a staging deployment. Watch the console and network panel while starting, playing, winning, losing, restarting, and loading on a narrow screen. Enforce the policy only after you understand every legitimate violation.
Best Value
Limit third-party resources
Every external script, font, image, analytics tag, or API adds another dependency, origin, failure mode, and CSP decision. Self-host assets when practical. If an external resource is necessary, pin the dependency to a known version where the delivery method allows it, verify its integrity mechanism, and include only its required origin in the policy. A CSP allowlist should describe known dependencies, not serve as a reason to keep adding them.
Handle cross-origin requests deliberately
The browser’s same-origin policy limits how scripts and documents from different origins interact. If the game fetches a score service, content feed, or asset from another origin, determine which origin is making the request, what the server’s CORS policy allows, and whether credentials are involved.
Restrict requests to the endpoints the feature needs. Do not solve a failed request by enabling a wildcard policy indiscriminately, especially when cookies or authorization headers are involved. If the game does not need cross-origin data, remove the request and keep connect-src limited to the game’s own origin.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsVerify the deployed site, not just the local build
Deployment can change paths, headers, redirects, caching, and case sensitivity. Perform a final pass against the public URL:
- Open the exact HTTPS URL in a private window.
- Confirm the certificate warning is absent and that HTTP requests redirect or are not used.
- Check the document, scripts, styles, images, fonts, and audio in the network panel.
- Look for mixed-content, CSP, CORS, and failed-resource messages in the console.
- Play through start, controls, win, loss, restart, reload, and narrow-screen cases again.
- Inspect the published source for credentials, private URLs, debug data, and accidental test controls.
- Test the custom domain separately if one is configured; DNS and certificate behavior can differ from the host’s default URL.
Keep a known-good deployment available so you can roll back a broken game or an over-restrictive security policy. Document the host’s current deployment and rollback steps in the project README rather than relying on memory.
Common problems and targeted fixes
The game is blank after adding CSP
Read the first CSP violation in the console. It identifies the blocked resource or execution method. Add only the source the game truly requires, or change the implementation to avoid inline code, dynamic evaluation, or an unnecessary external origin. Check the policy in a staging copy before enforcing it publicly.
Controls work locally but not after deployment
Check for case-sensitive asset and script paths, a failed JavaScript request, and a base-path difference between local development and the host. Confirm that the deployed HTML loads the intended script and that a JavaScript error is not preventing event listeners from registering.
Free tools Windows power users keep installed
One-click scans. No signup required.
Restart makes the game accelerate
Look for multiple requestAnimationFrame callbacks, interval timers, or event listeners created on every restart. Keep one lifecycle owner for the loop, cancel it when the round ends, and reset state in one function.
A remote score or asset request fails
Inspect the request origin and response headers. The same-origin policy and the server’s CORS configuration must agree. Also check that the request origin is included in connect-src and that HTTPS is used on both sides. If the feature does not justify the operational complexity, remove the cross-origin dependency.
A secret appears in the browser source
Assume it is compromised: revoke or rotate it, remove it from the client build and repository history where appropriate, and move the privileged operation to a server-side component. Renaming or obfuscating a key does not protect it once the browser receives it.
A practical Claude-assisted release checklist
- The game contract names the objective, controls, win/loss rules, and restart behavior.
- Claude changes one coherent layer at a time and explains assumptions.
- Every diff and dependency change has been read by a person.
- Permissions are limited to the project, with isolation used when appropriate.
- No private credential is delivered to the browser.
- Keyboard, pointer, touch, win, loss, restart, reload, resize, and narrow-screen behavior have been exercised in a real browser.
- The public site and every loaded asset use HTTPS.
- The CSP reflects actual scripts, styles, images, fonts, workers, and connections.
- Cross-origin requests are necessary, restricted, and supported by the server’s CORS behavior.
- The deployed URL has been checked for console errors, mixed content, blocked resources, and accidental debug information.
Claude is most useful here as an implementation partner and debugging assistant: it can turn a precise plan into code, explain alternatives, generate checklists, and suggest focused fixes. The responsibility for design decisions, code review, browser testing, permissions, and deployment configuration remains with the person shipping the game.
