The safest way to learn Angstrom Levy in Invincible VS is to build a route in layers: repeat a short normal sequence or the in-game auto-combo, cancel it into one special, then add a super or partner tag only when the earlier link is reliable. This teaches the same normal → special → super → tag structure the game uses for beginners, while giving you time to learn where Angstrom’s portals and orbs actually place you.
There is no published, Angstrom-specific beginner string with verified inputs, damage, frame data, or universal reliability. The progression below is therefore a practice route, not a claimed tournament combo. Confirm every control and direction in the current in-game command list and Training mode.

What you are building
A useful beginner route is not simply the longest sequence you can make connect once. It is a repeatable decision pattern that starts from a predictable hit, uses one of Angstrom’s specials to alter space, and leaves you able to continue pressure or return to neutral. For a first route, prioritize these outcomes in order:
- You can perform the opening normals from the same distance.
- The special cancel works without waiting for a visible hit-confirm every time.
- You understand where Angstrom, the opponent, and any orb reappear.
- You can add a super or partner tag without breaking the earlier timing.
- The sequence still makes sense when the opponent begins at a different distance or the current patch changes defensive timing.
The game’s beginner teaching intentionally sacrifices some damage to demonstrate this structure. Executive Producer Mike Willette described the sequence as moving from normal attacks into special attacks, canceling specials into supers, then tagging partner characters before repeating the cycle. Read the full explanation in the PlayStation Blog interview published March 10, 2026.

Before you practice: version and availability
Invincible VS launched on April 30, 2026. Angstrom Levy was announced as the third downloadable fighter and the 21st playable character in Season 2, with the Xbox Wire announcement dated October 1, 2026 listing his arrival for October 13, 2026. Those dates are time-sensitive; if you are reading later, check the current game build and character roster before treating any command as current.
The official game listing identifies Training mode as part of the game’s available modes. You can also review the game’s launch coverage, which describes Training mode as the place to learn character-specific movesets, in the April 30, 2026 Xbox Wire launch article. If your platform has received a balance update, use the command list and Training mode in that installed version rather than relying on an older video or written notation.
Angstrom’s toolkit and what each move teaches
Angstrom is designed around portals, orbs, and control of space. Xbox Wire characterizes him as a zoning-focused fighter whose setups and strategy matter as much as direct attacks. The official character page gives the move descriptions; use it alongside the in-game list for the exact controls and directional variants: Angstrom Levy’s official move page.

| Move | Officially described function | Beginner lesson |
|---|---|---|
| Portal | Creates a vertical opening. It can teleport Angstrom, the opponent, or one of his projectiles; tapping a direction changes its placement. | Do not treat the cancel as a fixed-distance follow-up. Record where the portal appears and where each participant re-enters. |
| Fastball | Launches an orb. The charged version returns to Angstrom. | Learn the launch timing first, then the return timing. A returning orb changes when you can safely move or continue pressure. |
| Ground Portal | Creates a horizontal defensive portal that can teleport either fighter. It has Armor Break and lists a rising uppercut as its follow-up. | Practice it as a defensive or space-changing branch, not as an automatic combo ender from every normal. |
| Overflow | Fires a stream of orbs through a portal and can be angled. | Use it to study angle and screen coverage after you understand basic portal placement. |
| Guardian | Summons four orbiting orbs that fly forward after a set period. | Count the delay and learn when the orbiting objects become active before adding the move to a route. |
| Reality Breach | Angstrom’s Ultimate. | Leave it for the final stage of the ladder, after the normal-to-special link is repeatable. |
These descriptions establish possible functions, not frame advantage, damage, or matchup guarantees. A portal that looks attractive on paper may miss because the opening normal moved the opponent too far, the direction selected a different portal position, or the orb’s timing changed the spacing.
Stage 1: establish a repeatable opening
Use the auto-combo as a timing tutor
Start Training mode with Angstrom and run the game’s auto-combo from a fixed distance. Its purpose is consistency and teaching, not maximum damage. Perform it until you can begin the sequence without jumping, walking too far, or changing your rhythm accidentally. Watch the opponent’s position after the final normal and note whether Angstrom is close, separated, or already aligned with a portal interaction.
If the auto-combo uses a different input method from your preferred manual controls, keep it as a reference rather than a permanent solution. The important observation is the cadence: how many normal attacks occur, when the game accepts the transition, and what distance the final normal leaves.

Build a short manual normal sequence
Once the auto-combo feels predictable, choose a short normal-only sequence from the command list. Do not add a special yet. Repeat it against a stationary training dummy, then reset and repeat from the same starting distance. A beginner route is easier to diagnose when the first hit always begins under comparable conditions.
- Place the dummy at the distance you expect to use in real matches.
- Repeat the sequence from the left side and the right side so directional familiarity does not hide an execution problem.
- Confirm that the final normal actually connects before attempting a cancel.
- Record the opponent’s standing position and Angstrom’s position after the final hit.
If the sequence fails before a special is involved, shorten it. A two-hit opening that you can perform ten times is a better foundation than a longer sequence that works only when the dummy starts at one exact pixel.
Stage 2: add one special cancel
Choose either Portal or Fastball first. They expose different parts of Angstrom’s game plan, so the better starting choice depends on what you need to learn: Portal emphasizes destination and direction; Fastball emphasizes projectile timing.
Portal branch
- Perform your short normal sequence.
- Enter Portal at the timing shown by the command list; do not add a directional variation until the basic version is repeatable.
- Reset the dummy after each attempt and mark where the portal opens.
- Repeat with the available directional placements, one at a time.
- For each placement, observe whether Angstrom, the opponent, or a projectile is the entity being repositioned in that situation.
The official description says Portal can affect all three, and that tapping a direction changes placement. That means “normal into Portal” is not one universal follow-up. It is a family of branches whose usefulness depends on the starting distance, the chosen direction, and the object you send through.
Fastball branch
- Perform the same short normal sequence.
- Cancel into the uncharged Fastball and verify that the orb launches without interrupting your recovery.
- Repeat while watching the orb’s travel relative to the opponent, not just whether it appears.
- Practice the charged version separately and note when the orb returns to Angstrom.
- Only then test whether the returning orb creates a second opportunity to move, attack, or establish a portal.
A charged orb returning to Angstrom is a timing event. If you immediately press another attack without watching the return, you may mistake a delayed setup for a failed combo. Treat the launch and return as two separate checkpoints in your notes.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:

After either special works from the chosen opening, vary the starting distance. Use at least a close, medium, and farther position that still allows the first normal to connect. For each attempt, record only observable outcomes:

- Did the opening normal connect?
- Did the special cancel occur before the normal sequence ended?
- Where did Angstrom reappear?
- Where did the opponent or orb end up?
- Could you act again, or did the sequence end in neutral?
Portal and orb setups are sensitive to destination and timing. A route that works at point-blank range may become a whiff or a teleport behind the opponent at medium range. Do not label a branch “universal” unless you have verified the relevant starting distances in the current build; the available official material does not publish such a guarantee.
Stage 4: add a super or partner tag
The game’s teaching order places supers after specials and partner tags after supers. Follow that order even if you eventually want a tag-heavy team route.
Adding a super
- Start with the normal sequence and the special that already connects reliably.
- Pause your experimentation long enough to identify the special’s end state: Angstrom’s position, the opponent’s position, and whether an orb remains active.
- Use the current command list to enter the Ultimate or super input after the special.
- Test the transition with the dummy stationary, then repeat from the same three distances used earlier.
- Remove the super immediately if it causes the special cancel to become inconsistent; return to the previous stage and rebuild the timing.
The official descriptions identify Reality Breach as Angstrom’s Ultimate but do not provide a damage value, meter requirement, or universal cancel window. Keep those details tied to what your installed version displays rather than inventing a number.
Adding a partner tag
Only test a partner tag after the special-to-super portion is stable. The tag is a later link in the beginner structure, not a requirement for learning Angstrom’s first route. Check whether the tag changes the opponent’s position or consumes an opportunity you were using to wait for a returning orb. If it does, write the tag as a separate branch rather than forcing it into the base route.
Where Ground Portal, Overflow, and Guardian fit
Ground Portal as a defensive branch
Ground Portal is described as a horizontal defensive portal that can teleport Angstrom or the opponent, has Armor Break, and leads into a rising uppercut. Those properties make it valuable for learning reactions and space control, but they do not prove that it follows every normal sequence. Practice it from situations in which you expect a grounded approach or pressure, then test whether the uppercut follows under the same conditions.
Because Ground Portal can move either fighter, success is not just “the move came out.” Check the destination and your side of the opponent after teleporting. A branch that puts you behind the opponent may require a different follow-up from one that leaves you in front.

Overflow as an angle exercise
Overflow sends a stream of orbs through a portal and can be angled. Add it after you understand basic Portal placement and Fastball timing. Begin with one angle, observe the stream’s coverage, and reset. Then compare another angle from the same opening. The goal is to learn which spaces are covered and how long you remain committed, not to claim a fixed damage conversion.

Guardian summons four orbiting orbs that fly forward after a set period. Practice the summon without trying to combo afterward. Count the delay visually, test whether the dummy can move during it, and identify the moment the orbs travel forward. Once that timing is familiar, try placing Guardian after a reset or a safe special rather than inserting it into an unverified normal string.

Use this ladder as a checklist. Advance only when the current stage is reliable from both sides of the screen.
| Stage | What to perform | What to verify | When to advance |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Short normals or auto-combo | Same rhythm, same starting distance, clean final hit | You can repeat the opening without accidental movement. |
| 2 | Normals into Portal or Fastball | Cancel timing and special activation | The special comes out consistently from the chosen opening. |
| 3 | Portal placement or Fastball launch/return | Destination, orb timing, and Angstrom’s reappearance | You can explain what changed when the spacing changes. |
| 4 | Special into Reality Breach or another super | Current command input and whether the special leaves a usable window | The super no longer disrupts the earlier link. |
| 5 | Super into partner tag | Tag timing, partner arrival, and altered spacing | You can choose the tag as a deliberate branch, not a panic input. |
| 6 | Repeat against varied distances and settings | Consistency in the current patch | You have a documented base route and know its limits. |
How to compare two Angstrom routes
When two branches both begin with the same normals, compare them using the following criteria rather than using damage alone:
- Execution length: How many distinct timings must you perform before the sequence ends?
- Spacing required: Does it work only close up, or can you begin from several distances?
- Portal and orb timing: Are you tracking a teleport destination, a delayed launch, or a returning projectile?
- Resource or tag requirement: Does the branch require a super, Ultimate, or partner tag that the base route does not?
- Consistency across starting distances: Does the same input produce the same outcome when the opponent starts farther away?
The official character descriptions and Xbox Wire’s overview support the importance of setup and spacing, but they do not publish a quantitative ranking on these axes. Keep your comparison observational: “works from close range” is useful; an invented success percentage is not.

The normal sequence stops before the special
Check that the final normal actually connected and that you are entering the special during the game’s cancel window. Shorten the opening, return to the auto-combo for timing, and verify the current command notation. If the problem occurs only at one distance, treat it as a spacing limit rather than an execution error.
Best Value
Portal appears in the wrong place
Review the directional tap and test the neutral version by itself. Portal’s placement changes with direction, so a single accidental tap can create a different branch. Reset after every attempt and note the destination instead of trying to correct it mid-sequence.
Fastball launches but never helps
Separate the launch from the charged return. First confirm that the orb travels where expected; then practice waiting for its return. If you press immediately after launch, you may be interrupting the timing you are trying to learn.
Ground Portal teleports you away from the intended follow-up
Ground Portal can move either fighter. Check which side you occupy after the teleport and whether the rising uppercut is available in that exact situation. Practice the portal and uppercut as two linked observations before attempting to add them after normals.

Reopen the current command list and repeat the route in Training mode. A beginner guide updated October 12, 2026 warns that patches can change combo rules and defensive timing; its guidance is useful as a warning, not as proof of an Angstrom-specific route. See the updated beginner guide for that general patch caveat.
What is and is not established about the route
The official sources establish Angstrom’s listed moves, their broad functions, and the game’s beginner progression from normals to specials, supers, and tags. They do not establish a frame count, damage total, meter cost, success rate, matchup guarantee, or one strongest beginner route. No firsthand combo test is available to support those claims.
Accordingly, publish or share your own notation only after checking it in the current build. Include the starting distance, side of the screen, dummy behavior, move variant, and whether a super or tag was required. Those qualifications let another player reproduce the observation without mistaking a situational setup for a universal combo.
Recommended first session
- Open Training mode and select Angstrom Levy.
- Read every listed command, especially directional versions of Portal and the charged Fastball.
- Run the auto-combo until its normal-to-special rhythm is familiar.
- Replace it with a short manual normal sequence and repeat it from both sides.
- Choose Portal or Fastball and test one cancel at a time.
- Write down the portal destination or orb launch and return timing.
- Repeat from close, medium, and farther starting distances.
- Only after those checks, test Reality Breach or a partner tag as a separate extension.
- Recheck the route after any patch that changes combo rules, defensive timing, or Angstrom’s move list.
This approach gives you a route you understand rather than a string you can recite. It also matches Angstrom’s intended identity: using portals and orbs to shape where the next interaction happens.
