1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesBuild around the fighters you want to take into battle, then use the remaining party slots for characters whose Z Abilities support those fighters’ Tags. Check the formation indicators and Ability Bonus to confirm what applies, and weigh Element matchups, the Leader slot, and Supporters according to the mode you’re playing. There is no universal best roster: the strongest setup depends on your collection and the specific fighters’ ability text.
Start with the fighters you want to use
Choose the characters you want to deploy before filling the rest of the party. Open their character details and note each fighter’s Tags, Element, and ability text. “Best” depends on the characters you own and the mode you’re playing, so build for your roster rather than copying a fixed lineup.

For each candidate, ask what role it serves in battle and which other characters’ abilities can support it. A powerful fighter can still be a poor fit for a particular party if its abilities do not connect with the rest of the lineup.
Make Z Abilities apply to your deployed fighters
A shared Tag is a practical starting point for a coherent team. For example, the Dragon Ball Legends Management Team’s beginner guidance uses a Saiyan party to show how to find characters with Z Abilities that target the Saiyan Tag. Check the ability text on each character; matching a Tag does not guarantee that every ability applies, because some have additional requirements.
#1 Best Overall
During party formation, look at the indicators on character icons. They show whether abilities are being applied, and the displayed number tells you how many Z and Zenkai Abilities affect that character. Use those indicators to confirm your setup rather than inferring compatibility from a character’s name or appearance. Dragon Ball Legends beginner guidance
Choose bench characters for their effects
A regular party can hold up to six characters. You do not have to select every party member for battle for that character’s Z Ability to help: applicable abilities from non-deployed party members can support matching fighters. That makes the bench part of the build, not just a place to store unused favorites.

Use the remaining slots to improve ability coverage for the fighters you expect to deploy. Check Ability Bonus as a summary of combined Z Ability, Zenkai Ability, and equipment effects, then inspect individual ability text to verify its targets and conditions. Ability Bonus is useful for reviewing the overall setup, but it is not a substitute for checking what each effect actually covers. Dragon Ball Legends Help: Characters

In modes with a Leader slot, placing an off-Tag favorite there can bridge certain Z Ability gaps. When the Leader participates in battle, it receives the other party members’ Z Ability effects, and the rest of the party receives the Leader’s Z Ability effects.

This rule applies to Z Abilities; Leader status does not extend Zenkai, Unique, or ULTRA Abilities. The Help page also says Co-op and Co-op Raid, Tournament of Power, and Guild Battle parties do not have a Leader slot. Confirm the mode’s rules before building around this option. Check Element coverage and matchup options
Tag synergy alone does not make a party balanced. Consider whether your deployed fighters leave you exposed to unfavorable Element matchups, and whether another fighter gives you a useful alternative. Compare candidate builds by the support they provide, the Elements represented, and the role each deployed fighter fills.

Keep Supporters separate from the regular party
Supporters are a separate system, not another name for non-deployed party members. A Dragon Ball Legends notice dated May 13, 2026 describes a Supporter deck of six, with one Supporter deployed during battle. Supporters have Support Abilities and Support Z Abilities, which follow their own rules. Check the available mode and in-game descriptions to see how those effects fit your setup. Compare builds, then verify them in-game
If you have two plausible parties, compare them on the same practical criteria rather than choosing only by character rarity or personal preference:
- Ability coverage: Which deployed fighters receive useful Z or Zenkai effects, and do they meet each ability’s conditions?
- Leader value: Does the Leader improve Z Ability support for an off-Tag favorite, and does the mode allow a Leader?
- Element coverage: Does the lineup give you options when a matchup is unfavorable?
- Equipment and Supporters: What effects show in Ability Bonus, and do Supporter abilities apply in the mode?
Dragon Ball Legends also offers Recommended Allies and Recommended Equipment features, based on usage by high-Battle-Rank players when usage data is available. Treat those as starting points to investigate, not proof that a recommendation suits your collection or mode. Make your final check in party formation: confirm the ability indicators on the fighters you intend to deploy and review their character details for conditions that the summary does not show.
