You can use a Raspberry Pi as the always-on computer in a YouTube music-streaming setup: it plays prepared audio and visuals, an encoder sends the stream to YouTube, and the Pi stays powered and connected. But a Pi is not a turnkey guarantee of uninterrupted 24/7 service. First clear the music rights, then test the full setup under the conditions in which you plan to run it and make a recovery plan for power, network, encoder, and copyright interruptions.
Clear the rights to every track before building the playlist
Rights are the first dependency, not a setting to solve after the channel is live. YouTube’s Livestream terms and conditions place responsibility on the provider to have the rights needed to use live content, including applicable music rights from artists, record labels, publishers, and other royalty participants. Buying a song, finding it online, or streaming it without charge does not establish that you have permission to broadcast it live.

Make a track-by-track inventory for the Odia music you intend to use. For each recording, document:
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute- The sound-recording owner and the relevant composition or publishing rights contacts.
- Whether your permission covers public livestreaming, the territories where viewers may watch, and monetization if you plan to enable it.
- Any limits on duration, editing, visuals, or use in a continuous broadcast.
- Whether the rights owner has arranged to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist.
- Where the written license or permission and any rights-owner response are stored.
Do not assume one permission clears every Odia song: rights can differ between tracks and between the recording and composition. YouTube’s Copyright issues with live streams guidance says its systems scan live streams for third-party content. A match may interrupt or terminate a stream; even a licensed recording may be interrupted if its owner has not allowlisted the channel. Confirm allowlisting with the relevant rights owner, label, or distributor before relying on that catalog for a continuous schedule.

Do not rebroadcast music from YouTube or another streaming service as a substitute for obtaining livestream rights. YouTube’s terms require the necessary rights for live content, and its service terms do not grant general permission to publicly screen or stream music from the service.
Enable live streaming and prepare the channel
- In YouTube Studio, open Go live and follow the channel’s verification and livestream-enablement steps. Check the channel’s own Studio status for restrictions; do not assume livestreaming is already available.
- Complete setup well before the planned launch. YouTube for Artists advises first-time creators to enable livestreaming at least 24 hours ahead.
- Prepare the channel’s stream details and configure the encoder with the YouTube stream endpoint and stream key. Keep the key private: anyone who obtains it may be able to send a stream to your channel.
- Plan an unlisted test before a public broadcast. YouTube for Artists recommends testing this way so you can inspect the stream without announcing the channel to viewers.
Use original artwork or visuals you have permission to use, as well as music you have cleared. A still image or visual loop does not remove the need for rights to the audio or the visual itself.

Choose a Raspberry Pi setup that you can validate
The Pi’s job is to run the media source and encoder continuously, maintain a connection to YouTube, and recover in a controlled way when something fails. A Raspberry Pi 5 is a current official Raspberry Pi board and a candidate for this type of build, but the available product information does not establish a minimum memory configuration, a 24/7 endurance result, or a guaranteed encoding profile.
Plan for the whole chain rather than the board alone:

- Broadcom BCM2711, Quad core Cortex-A72 (ARM v8) 64-bit SoC @ 1.5GHz
- 1GB, 2GB, 4GB or 8GB LPDDR4-3200 SDRAM (depending on model)
- 2.4 GHz and 5.0 GHz IEEE 802.11ac wireless, Bluetooth 5.0, BLE Gigabit Ethernet
- 2 USB 3.0 ports; 2 USB 2.0 ports.
- Raspberry Pi standard 40 pin GPIO header (fully backwards compatible with previous boards)
- Media source: a local playlist or prepared files that you have rights to stream.
- Visual source: original or rights-cleared artwork, video, or other visuals.
- Encoder: software that can play the chosen media and send a live audio-and-video stream to YouTube.
- Power, cooling, and storage: stable continuous power, ventilation, and storage appropriate to the media and operating system.
- Network: a dependable connection with enough sustained upload capacity for the selected output, plus a way to notice when that connection fails.
- Monitoring and recovery: access to YouTube Studio’s stream-health/status view and a tested procedure for diagnosing and restarting the encoder.
Select an output profile only after checking what your encoder can sustain on the actual Pi and what your upstream connection can maintain. There is no universally safe bitrate, resolution, or frame rate established for this build. Avoid treating a setting that works in a short test as proof of continuous stability; observe encoder load, heat, power, network behavior, and playlist transitions during a longer run.
YouTube’s developer documentation for Delivering Live YouTube Content via DASH describes that protocol’s delivery requirements, including separate audio and video tracks, timing, segment handling, and retries for failed PUT requests; it recommends media segments of 1–5 seconds for DASH implementations. These are protocol-specific details, not a ready-made Raspberry Pi command line or settings that apply to every encoder. Use them only if your chosen delivery software implements DASH and follow that software’s instructions.

Build and test the stream before making it continuous
- Assemble the cleared program. Organize only the tracks and visuals you have permission to use. Check that the playlist plays locally in the intended order and loops or transitions as expected.
- Configure the encoder privately. Enter the YouTube endpoint and stream key in the encoder, choose an output profile the Pi and network can sustain, and verify that the intended audio and visuals are both present.
- Run an unlisted preflight. Confirm YouTube receives the stream, the audio is audible, the visual is correct, the stream key works, and the playlist behaves as intended. Check Studio for stream health and any copyright notices.
- Run a longer burn-in under expected conditions. Leave the complete setup running long enough to observe heat, encoder stability, storage behavior, network fluctuations, and playlist changes. This is a practical validation step, not a guarantee of future uptime; no Pi-specific 24/7 endurance result is established here.
- Launch publicly only after addressing failures. If the test shows dropped ingest, unstable encoding, overheating, or a rights match, resolve the cause and repeat the test before promoting a continuous channel.
Operate the channel and plan for recovery
A 24/7 target needs an operator who can discover and respond to failures. Check YouTube Studio’s stream-health/status view and arrange a practical way to notice that the Pi has lost power, the network has gone down, or the encoder has exited. Keep recovery notes available away from the Pi so you can check power and connectivity, inspect the encoder, and restart it when appropriate.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
Do not blindly restart the same material after a copyright interruption. Check Studio and resolve the underlying content or rights issue first; YouTube says a live stream can be interrupted or terminated when third-party content is detected. Configure automatic restart behavior only after testing it, since a restart loop can repeatedly fail without fixing an access, network, or rights problem.

Do not promise viewers a complete replay of an uninterrupted 24/7 broadcast. YouTube’s terms describe an archive option, not a guarantee that a continuous stream will be preserved as a complete replay.
What to expect from audience figures
YouTube for Artists reports that over 30% of daily logged-in YouTube viewers watched live content in Q2 2025. That is a platform-wide figure, not a forecast for Odia music, a particular channel, or a specific playlist. It can provide context for the format, but it does not establish demand for this channel.
When the Raspberry Pi approach makes sense
A Pi-based setup gives you a locally operated media-and-encoder pipeline. Before committing to it, weigh the upfront hardware and ongoing electricity costs against sustained encoding capacity at your chosen output, heat and power behavior, network reliability and upload headroom, storage and media management, recovery and remote monitoring, and the ease of changing the playlist. A fair comparison with another local computer or hosted encoder depends on the actual devices, configuration, and workload; no head-to-head benchmark establishes a universal winner.
