You can switch to H2O Wireless with a compatible phone you already own. First check the phone’s IMEI through H2O, confirm it is unlocked, and choose a physical SIM or eSIM supported by your device. Then select a plan and use H2O’s activation flow; if you want to keep your number, choose the transfer option and follow the current instructions from both carriers.
Check whether your phone can work on H2O
Before buying a SIM or starting activation, find your phone’s IMEI in its settings and enter it in H2O’s device checker and BYOD flow. Make sure the phone is unlocked by your current carrier. H2O’s terms require a compatible customer-owned device and caution that some services may not work on some devices, so an IMEI result should not be treated as a guarantee that every feature will work.

Choose a physical SIM or eSIM
H2O offers a physical three-in-one SIM, which fits standard, micro, and nano SIM slots, and an eSIM option for compatible phones. A physical SIM is appropriate if your phone has a usable SIM tray; eSIM can avoid waiting for a mailed card, but it is not available on every phone. Confirm compatibility for your exact device before selecting either path.

Compare plan costs and allowances
H2O’s monthly plan page displayed the following prices and allowances when checked October 7, 2026. These are H2O’s listed product terms, not guaranteed all-in bills. The page also lists a 10% per-line AutoPay discount, additional charges, location-dependent government taxes, and plan-specific Broadband Facts labels. When comparing plans, weigh the AutoPay price, data threshold before reduced speeds, hotspot allowance, any included international benefits, and the charges shown for your location—not just the headline monthly amount. H2O’s current plan page and Broadband Facts are the source for the displayed figures; terms and prices can change.
Activate your H2O line
- Open H2O’s activation flow and select “Activate a New Line or Transfer.”
- Choose a plan and follow the prompts for your SIM type and exact phone.
- Register the line and complete the on-screen activation steps. Use the live instructions for your device rather than assuming one process applies to all phones.
Transfer your existing number
If you want to keep your number, choose the transfer option during activation and follow H2O’s current transfer prompts. Have a bill from your current provider available, as H2O’s terms advise. The exact account details or PIN required can vary by provider, so confirm the transfer requirements with your current carrier before submitting the request.

Do not treat the old line as canceled until the number transfer completes. H2O says port completion is not guaranteed and warns that some services, including 911 location services, may be temporarily unavailable while a port is processed. You remain responsible for charges from your former provider through deactivation and any applicable early termination fees; H2O says it does not reimburse those charges. Once activation or transfer is complete, test the services you rely on: place a call, send a text, try mobile data with Wi-Fi turned off, and check voicemail and any important phone features. If mobile data does not work, use H2O’s SIM configuration guide.

Android: check the APN
Open the Access Point Names settings on Android and verify the values against H2O’s guide. Menu names vary by Android version and manufacturer. The listed settings are:

Save the APN, select it, restart the phone, and test mobile data with Wi-Fi off. H2O’s guide advises contacting technical support if this does not resolve the issue.

iPhone: reset network settings if needed
H2O says iPhone carrier settings are set automatically when its SIM is inserted and cannot be changed manually. If service still fails, its guide suggests resetting network settings. Menu labels can differ by iOS version; be aware that a network-settings reset removes saved network settings such as Wi-Fi passwords.
