This is not a safe elevator ride. Current walkthroughs describe the underside approach as the most exposed part of the encounter, with the Frigate’s weapon system and hostile Raiders able to punish a poorly timed attempt. The safest plan is to scout first, avoid boarding into a squad’s line of fire, and treat the introductory quest as a targeted damage objective rather than a requirement to clear the entire vessel.

What boarding the Frigate actually requires
The Frigate is a map-condition encounter added with Embark’s Frozen Trail update. The official description presents it as a substantial challenge for highly skilled Raiders: you navigate internal passageways, unlock routes, and defend against ARC enemies. That framing matters because reaching the ship is only the entrance to the encounter, not the whole activity.

The ship deploys round ARC drones or platforms below it. You reach one, stand on it, and disrupt its center. Once disrupted, the platform lifts you toward the ship so you can transfer onto the hull. The guides do not describe a guaranteed stealth route, a permanently safe platform, or a need to destroy every defender before boarding.

Think of the operation as three separate decisions:
- Whether to approach: Is the Frigate condition active, and is the area clear enough to move toward a platform?
- When to ride: Is a platform low and accessible, and can you complete the Disrupt interaction without exposing yourself to a watching squad?
- What to do after arrival: Are you entering to complete Celeste’s objectives, or are you deliberately attempting a deeper Frigate clear?
Keeping those decisions separate prevents a common mistake: treating the boarding animation as proof that the encounter is safe. You are vulnerable before, during, and immediately after the lift.
Where can you find the ARC Frigate?
The Frigate appears as a map condition rather than a permanently fixed landmark. ARC Raiders Hub’s current guide advises opening the map and checking the active condition before traveling. The Frigate has been reported on more than one map, so do not plan around one permanent map name or assume that a particular route will remain available after an update.

Map conditions and live rotations can change. A route that was practical during launch week may be unavailable, move to another map, or have different enemy and player activity later. Use the map’s current condition display as your source of truth for the raid you are about to enter.
Map-check routine
- Open the map before committing to a long rotation.
- Confirm that the Frigate condition is active in the current raid.
- Identify the ship’s general position and plan cover for the final approach rather than running directly across open ground.
- Expect other Raiders to use the same condition. Leave enough time to observe the area before attempting the platform.
The condition tells you that the encounter is present; it does not guarantee that a platform is currently low, that the underside weapon is inactive, or that another squad is not already waiting.
Prepare for the approach, not just the interior
The most dangerous minutes can come before you reach the Frigate. Guides describe the player as slow and exposed around the boarding platforms, while the ship’s underside weapon may target the approach. A loadout that is comfortable for ordinary scavenging can therefore leave you short of ammunition, healing, or mobility at the exact moment you need to hold position.
Bring the supplies current guides recommend
- Plenty of ammunition: You may need to defend yourself during the approach, damage quest targets inside, and respond to another Raider squad. The guides do not establish a fixed ammunition count, so carry enough for your normal weapon and contingency fights rather than relying on a universal number.
- Healing items: You can be hit while crossing to a platform or while waiting for it to descend. Healing before the final interaction is safer than beginning a lift at low health.
- An in-game Grappling or Snap Hook, if available: PC Gamer identifies these as useful for boarding. They can help you reach a platform or recover from awkward vertical positioning, but they are optional equipment, not a guaranteed bypass for the interaction.
These are gameplay recommendations, not real-world gear requirements. Your priority is to preserve enough ammunition and health to survive the exposed approach and still complete the objective after landing.

Choose a commitment point
Decide before you enter the final open area whether you are willing to abort. If the underside weapon begins tracking you, a squad takes the only visible angle, or the platform rises before you are ready, retreating to cover is a successful decision. Do not let a nearly completed run force you into a lift that you cannot defend.
How do you get on top of the Frigate?
The following sequence reflects the current guide-reported method. Names and interaction timing can change with patches, so follow the on-screen prompt if it differs from the wording below.
1. Approach from the ship’s rear
Once the Frigate condition is confirmed, move toward the rear of the ship. Current walkthroughs use the rear as the approach direction because the deployable platforms are reported beneath the vessel there. Move from cover to cover where the terrain allows; a straight sprint across the final stretch advertises your position to both the ship and other players.
2. Stop and scan before entering the platform area
Do not run immediately under the hull. Pause at cover and look for the circular ARC platforms, player movement, incoming fire, and any sign that the underside weapon is engaging the approach. You are checking whether the next ten seconds are survivable, not trying to prove that the entire area is empty.

The platforms move. ARC Raiders Hub’s walkthrough advises waiting until one is low enough to reach. A high platform can tempt you into a rushed grapple or an exposed jump, while a low platform gives you time to get onto it and start the interaction deliberately.
Use the waiting period to watch other Raiders. If a squad is already positioned with a clear view of the platform, let the platform cycle again or relocate. A short delay is safer than beginning the lift while opponents are aiming at the only place you can stand.
4. Reach the circular platform
Climb onto the platform when it is accessible. If your equipment and position support it, a Grappling or Snap Hook can help you make the vertical connection. The goal is to stand on the platform itself, not merely to pass beneath it or attach to the surrounding structure.

5. Use Disrupt at the platform’s center
Move to the center and activate the displayed Disrupt interaction. The current guides describe this as the action that starts the ride. Keep your aim and position steady until the interaction completes; moving away too early can leave you on the ground while the platform continues its cycle.

After Disrupt succeeds, remain on the platform as it carries you toward the ship. You are still exposed during this ascent. Avoid unnecessary movement, keep track of incoming fire, and be ready to transfer as soon as the platform reaches the hull. The objective is to arrive alive, not to fight every enemy that can see the lift.
7. Step onto the hull
When the platform reaches the Frigate, move onto the hull and establish your footing before heading farther inside. The transfer point is another vulnerable moment: a delayed step can leave you on a moving platform, while an over-eager jump can send you back into the approach area. Once on the hull, orient yourself, reload if safe, and choose whether to continue with the quest or withdraw.
Why the platform approach is dangerous
Guide reports identify the approach as the encounter’s major immediate risk. The player’s movement is slow and visible, the Frigate’s underside weapon may target the route, and hostile Raider squads can watch the same boarding point. These are current observations, not guarantees that every raid will behave identically; enemy placement, weapon behavior, and player activity can change.
Underside weapon pressure
If the ship’s underside weapon begins engaging the area, do not assume that reaching the platform quickly is safer than waiting. Break line of sight where possible, return to cover, and watch for a quieter cycle. The platform itself does not make you invulnerable, so beginning Disrupt while already under fire can turn a manageable approach into an unavoidable down.

Other Raiders
Another squad may use the Frigate condition for the same quest or for a deeper clear. Check likely sightlines before stepping onto a platform and listen for nearby combat. If opponents have a clear angle on the boarding point, wait, reposition, or coordinate a distraction with teammates. The guides specifically warn against riding up alone when a squad is watching.
Platform timing
A platform that is low now may be gone by the time you reach it. Move only after confirming the cycle and your route. If you miss the window, return to cover and wait for the next one instead of improvising an exposed jump.

Solo boarding versus coordinated boarding
There is no controlled success-rate comparison for solo and group attempts in the available guidance. The practical difference is how many jobs must be performed during the exposed lift.

For a squad, assign a simple order: scout the platform, nominate the rider, cover the approach, then regroup on the hull. The exact formation is less important than avoiding a situation in which everyone stands in the same exposed spot with no one watching the rear.
How do you complete the Boarding the Frigate quest in ARC Raiders?
Celeste’s introductory objectives are to find a way on top of the Frigate and damage three enemy types: a Hydra, a Vaporizer, and a Rocketeer. PC Gamer’s launch-week walkthrough says the quest requires damaging those enemies, not killing them. That distinction lets you plan a focused run instead of treating the quest as a demand to eliminate every defender.

The available guidance does not say that completing Celeste’s objectives requires clearing the Frigate’s passageways or defeating every ARC enemy.
A focused quest route
- Confirm the Frigate condition and prepare ammunition and healing.
- Board using the platform-and-Disrupt sequence.
- Move carefully inside until you can identify a Hydra, Vaporizer, and Rocketeer.
- Deal the required damage to each target, confirming progress through the game’s quest feedback.
- Stop taking optional fights once all three damage objectives are complete.
- Leave by the safest available route rather than remaining solely to prove that you can clear the vessel.
Enemy locations and interior access can change, so do not rely on a permanent room order. The objective list is stable in the cited launch-week walkthrough; the safest path to those enemies is dependent on the live encounter.
Boarding for the quest versus attempting a full Frigate clear
These are different goals and should use different risk tolerances. A quest run values confirmed damage and survival. A full clear values exploration, unlocked paths, and combat depth, which the official Frozen Trail description highlights as part of the Frigate’s challenge.
- Choose the quest-focused plan when you have limited ammunition, are solo, or see another squad controlling the approach. Board, register the three damage types, and leave when the objective is complete.
- Consider a deeper clear only when your group has the supplies, time, and positioning to handle interior passageways and ARC defenders. Do not assume that reaching the hull means the hardest part is over.
- Do not convert a safe quest run into a forced clear because a path is open. The official encounter framing promises challenge and locked routes, not a requirement to explore every section for Celeste’s introductory objectives.
Troubleshooting common boarding failures
The Frigate is not visible
Reopen the map and verify the active condition. The Frigate is reported as appearing on more than one map, and the live rotation is not a fixed schedule. If the condition is absent, traveling to a remembered location will not make the encounter appear.
The platform is too high
Wait for the next low cycle. Move to cover and watch the timing rather than spending health or mobility resources on a desperate reach. A Grappling or Snap Hook may help when the platform is within range, but the guides do not promise that either item can reach every position.
Disrupt does not appear
Make sure you are standing on the platform and near its center. If the interaction still does not appear, reposition when the platform is stable and follow the current on-screen prompt. Avoid leaving cover to troubleshoot while an enemy squad has the area watched.
You are shot during the lift
Call out the direction, keep moving only as needed to remain on the platform, and transfer to the hull as soon as it arrives. If the damage is overwhelming and the platform has not committed to the ascent, retreat on the next safe opportunity rather than repeating the attempt immediately.
You reach the hull but are low on health or ammunition
Heal and reload before pushing into passageways if the landing area allows it. The quest asks for damage to three enemy types, so entering depleted can turn a completed boarding into an avoidable loss.
A squad is holding the boarding point
Do not ride directly into their prepared sightline. Wait for them to move, rotate to another angle if one exists, or coordinate a distraction. The current guide’s warning is explicit: boarding alone while a squad is watching is a high-risk choice.
A practical safety checklist
- Map condition confirmed for this raid.
- Rear approach planned with at least one retreat route.
- Ammunition and healing supplies checked.
- Optional Grappling or Snap Hook available if your loadout supports it.
- Platform cycle observed from cover.
- Underside weapon activity assessed.
- Other Raider sightlines checked.
- Low platform reached without rushing.
- Disrupt interaction completed at the platform center.
- Hull transfer completed before moving deeper inside.
- Hydra, Vaporizer, and Rocketeer damaged if running Celeste’s quest.
- Optional fights avoided once the quest objectives are registered.
What can change after an update
The official Frozen Trail announcement is the reliable reference for the Frigate’s intended design: a demanding encounter with internal routes, unlockable paths, and ARC defenses. The exact boarding sequence, platform timing, enemy placement, underside-weapon behavior, and map rotation come from current secondary walkthroughs and may shift with patches.
When a future update changes the interaction label or platform behavior, preserve the underlying logic: verify the active condition, approach from cover, identify the current boarding interaction, and do not begin the ascent while another squad controls the area. Treat guide timing and enemy locations as provisional rather than permanent rules.
