To block a specific number on a Samsung Galaxy, open Phone > More options (three dots) > Settings > Block numbers, then add the number. That blocks calls from the number, but it does not guarantee that the caller cannot leave voicemail. Samsung says voicemail blocking for specific callers must be handled through your carrier.
Block a specific number on a Samsung Galaxy
- Open the Phone app.
- Tap More options (the three dots), then tap Settings.
- Tap Block numbers.
- Enter the number and tap the add icon. If available, you can instead choose a number from Recents, Messages, or Contacts.
The number will appear in the blocked list. To unblock it later, return to Phone > More options > Settings > Block numbers and remove it from the list. The exact control for removing a number can vary by software version. Samsung documents these call settings at Adjust call settings on your Galaxy phone.

Why a blocked caller may still reach voicemail
Samsung distinguishes blocking calls on the phone from blocking voicemail delivery. Its support guidance says, “To block voicemails from specific callers, you’ll need to contact your carrier directly.” If a blocked caller can still leave messages—or you specifically need to prevent that—ask your carrier whether it offers voicemail blocking for individual callers. Samsung names Verizon, T-Mobile, AT&T, and United Cellular as examples of carriers that may offer such services; availability is not guaranteed. See Samsung’s guidance on spam calls and voicemail.

Do not assume every blocked call will be declined in exactly the same way. The behavior and available settings can depend on the Galaxy model, software version, carrier, and region.

Choose the control that matches the caller

Why call forwarding and Direct voicemail are different
Call forwarding
Samsung’s call-forwarding controls cover forwarding all calls, or forwarding when busy, unanswered, or unreachable. They are separate network call-handling settings, and availability depends on the carrier and model; Samsung does not describe them as a way to block one chosen caller. Direct voicemail
Samsung Direct voicemail is also not caller blocking: its auto-send option routes incoming calls to voicemail after a chosen ringing duration. Samsung says the feature is available only on Galaxy phones running Android 16 with One UI 8.5 or higher, and that availability can vary. If the menu does not match
Samsung cautions that screens and settings may differ by wireless provider and software version. If you do not see Block numbers or the unknown-number option, check for a software-specific call-settings guide for your model, or contact Samsung support. If the unresolved issue is voicemail from a particular blocked caller, contact your carrier rather than changing forwarding or Direct voicemail settings.
