Report the specific message, voice exchange, profile content, or in-game behavior when you believe it violates the game or platform rules. You may need to do both: blocking controls your contact with the person, while reporting sends conduct or content to moderators for review.
The correct menu depends on the game, device, chat type, and where the conduct occurred. The procedures below cover documented controls for Fortnite, Roblox on Xbox One, EA games, and PlayStation Network, followed by a method for handling titles with different menus.

Blocking and reporting solve different problems
Blocking is a personal safety and comfort control. It is appropriate when you do not want another player to message, speak with, or otherwise interact with you. A mute control can reduce what you hear without necessarily preventing other contact.
Reporting is a request for the service to review possible misconduct under its rules. Use it for harassment, cheating, threats, hateful or sexually inappropriate material, illegal content, or other behavior covered by the game’s or platform’s code of conduct. A report does not guarantee a suspension, ban, removal, or any other particular result.

PlayStation’s guidance makes the distinction explicit: report content that breaches its Code of Conduct, and block a user when you simply do not want interaction. Epic Games likewise provides blocking, muting, and reporting as separate controls.
Choose the reporting channel that matches where the conduct happened
Start by identifying the service that hosted the content. A game’s report tool generally handles behavior, chat, or player content inside that game. Console and platform tools handle messages, profiles, and other content sent through the platform itself.

EA’s support guidance illustrates this boundary. Some EA games accept reports for cheating, harassment, and inappropriate or illegal material in the game. For certain usernames or harassing messages sent through PlayStation or Xbox chat, EA directs players to report directly to the relevant console service.
Before you submit a report
A focused report gives moderators the clearest material to review and avoids turning an ordinary disagreement into an abuse report.
- Stop engaging if the exchange is escalating. Block or mute the player first if you need immediate relief.
- Select the actual content where possible. A message, voice conversation, profile field, or player action is more useful than an unsupported accusation about the account.
- Use the closest accurate reason. Choose harassment, cheating, threats, or another category that matches what happened; do not exaggerate.
- Record identifying details while they are visible. Note the player’s displayed name, the game, the approximate time, and the match or conversation context. Use the game’s own evidence or reporting interface when it offers one.
- Do not retaliate. Replying with insults or threats can create additional rule violations and make the situation harder to explain.
PlayStation specifically asks users to report the piece of content believed to breach its Code of Conduct instead of reporting an online ID by itself. The exception is inappropriate material contained in profile fields, which should be reported as profile content.
How to block and report someone in Fortnite
Epic Games documents several Fortnite entry points: the in-game menu, a recently played player’s profile, and the player list for a voice channel. The controls and button used to open the menu vary by platform.

Report from the in-game menu
- Open the Fortnite menu. Press Esc on PC or Mac, Options on PlayStation, Menu on Xbox, or + on Nintendo Switch.
- Choose the Report option.
- Select the player involved.
- Choose the reason that most accurately describes the conduct.
- Submit the report. If the menu also offers block or mute, use the control that matches your immediate need.
Report a recent player or a voice-channel participant
Open the profile of a recently played player and use its reporting control, or open the voice-channel player list and select the relevant player there. These routes are useful when the person is no longer in the current match but remains in your recent-player list or voice channel.

Fortnite’s voice and text reporting FAQ does not describe one universal behavior for every conversation. What can be reported, whether the contents of text messages are submitted, and which block or mute controls appear depend on the chat type and account settings. Game chat and conversations involving users under 18 have additional reporting behavior described by Epic. In some contexts, a player can block, mute, and report another player without submitting the contents of text messages.
Do not assume that a voice or text report works identically in party chat, game chat, direct messages, or every account age setting. Check the control shown in the conversation you are reporting.
Epic products beyond Fortnite
Epic says its voice-reporting approach applies to Fortnite, Rocket League, and Fall Guys, and its policy describes blocking, muting, and reporting options across its products. The detailed button-by-button procedure above is for Fortnite. Confirm the current in-game help for Rocket League or Fall Guys before relying on the same menu path.
Check a Fortnite report’s status
Fortnite’s My Reports page shows reports as Open or Closed. Epic says this is the only place it shares report information; support agents cannot provide additional details about a report or its outcome. A status label therefore tells you whether the report is open or closed, not what enforcement action was taken.

Epic’s published policy states: “We encourage everyone to report inappropriate conduct and content.” That is an invitation to use the reporting system, not a promise that every report will produce a visible penalty.

How to report or block a player in Roblox on Xbox One
The documented Roblox procedure below is specifically for the Roblox Xbox One app. Roblox menus on PC, mobile, PlayStation, or other devices can use different controls.
Report a player from an Xbox experience
- Open the in-experience menu.
- Select the flag beside the player’s name, or open the Report tab.
- Choose Person.
- Select the player’s username.
- Choose the reason for the report.
- Add a short description if useful, then submit.
Roblox says this sends information directly to moderators so they can see what the user is doing wrong. Describe the conduct itself rather than making a general claim that the player is bad or annoying.
Use parental controls to report or block a connection
For a child’s connections, Roblox’s safety guidance describes a parental-controls route: open parental controls, manage the child’s connections, open the menu beside the user’s name, then select Report or Block. Roblox says blocking prevents that user from chatting with the child in that context. This is a parent-management workflow, not a universal description of every Roblox device’s player menu.
EA games and console messages
EA says that some of its games let players report cheating, harassment, and inappropriate or illegal content from inside the game. Look for the title’s player, match, chat, or social menu and use the report category that matches the incident.
When the problem is an EA-related username or a harassing message delivered through PlayStation or Xbox chat, EA directs players to the console service instead. The game publisher cannot apply its in-game review process to a message that exists only in the console’s messaging system.
If you are unsure which service owns the content, identify where you opened it: an in-game scoreboard or chat is normally a game report; a console inbox, party conversation, or platform profile is normally a platform report.

How PlayStation reporting works
PlayStation’s support instructions focus on reporting the specific content that may violate its Code of Conduct. Select the offensive message, image, voice-related item, or other content when the interface allows it. Do not report only the player’s online ID unless the problem is inappropriate content in a profile field.

Blocking and reporting are separate actions, so blocking someone does not by itself submit a moderation report.
After a report is submitted, PlayStation moderators review it and decide whether the content breaches the Code. If it does, PlayStation says it removes the content and takes appropriate action. The decision belongs to the platform and is based on its rules, not on whether the reporting player found the interaction unpleasant.
What to do when a game has no obvious report button
Menus change by title, platform, account age, chat mode, and software version. A missing control does not prove that reporting is impossible.
- Check whether you are viewing the player’s profile, the current match list, the chat message, or a voice-channel roster. Reporting may exist in only one of those locations.
- Check whether the content belongs to the game or to the console service. Move to the platform’s reporting flow for a platform message or profile.
- Look at the game’s current official help page for your exact device. Do not assume a PC instruction applies to a console or mobile app.
- If the chat type is restricted, disabled, or managed by an account setting, use the report control that remains available and include the context in any description field.
- Block or mute the player while you locate the correct reporting route. These controls reduce contact even when a report menu is temporarily hard to find.
There is no universal promise that blocking removes a player from future matchmaking. Its effect can differ by title and platform, so treat it as a contact-control measure rather than a guaranteed matchmaking exclusion.
What happens after a report
Reports enter the service’s moderation process. Reviewers may compare the submitted item with the applicable code of conduct, account history, and other available evidence. Services do not all disclose the same information, and an enforcement decision may be private.
Epic’s Fortnite system exposes only an Open or Closed status in My Reports and says support agents cannot provide further details. Other games and platforms may show a different status or no status at all. Lack of a visible response is not proof that a report was ignored, and a closed report is not a promise that a particular punishment occurred.
Submit one accurate report for an incident rather than repeatedly filing the same accusation. Repeated or knowingly false reports can themselves undermine the reporting system and may violate service rules.
When a situation is serious or involves a child
For ordinary rudeness, cheating allegations, or unwanted contact, use block, mute, and the appropriate report channel. If a player makes a credible threat, attempts to obtain personal information, or creates an immediate safety concern, preserve the available evidence, stop communicating, and involve a trusted adult when a minor is affected.

That is a proportionate escalation for a credible danger, not a recommendation to involve law enforcement for every unpleasant match or argument. A parent or caregiver can help a child review privacy settings, manage connections, and decide whether a platform or game report is appropriate.
A practical decision checklist
- Want no further contact? Block the player; mute them as an additional audio control.
- Believe a rule was broken? Report the specific content or behavior through the service that hosted it.
- Was it a console message or profile? Use the PlayStation or Xbox reporting system rather than the game’s in-match tool.
- Was it in Fortnite? Open the platform-specific menu, choose Report, select the player and reason, and submit; use the recent-player profile or voice-channel list when appropriate.
- Was it Roblox on Xbox One? Use the in-experience flag or Report tab, choose Person, select the username and reason, optionally describe the incident, and submit.
- Was it an EA game? Report in-game for supported game conduct; send PlayStation or Xbox chat and username issues to the console service.
- Need follow-up? Check the service’s own status tool when one exists, such as Fortnite’s My Reports page.
For any other title, use its current official support instructions for the exact game, platform, and chat type. Interface labels and moderation policies can change, so a current title-specific page is more reliable than a generic menu remembered from another game.
