To beat a Stellar Blade boss, identify whether its next attack is best handled with a block, a late dodge, or—if it is a Fatal Attack—a dodge or Blink. Defend first, then use the recovery window for a short counterattack or a suitable Beta or Burst Skill. Boss patterns differ, so learning the timing of the specific enemy matters more than repeating one response against every move.
Choose your defense based on the attack
PlayStation’s combat guide advises learning enemy patterns and weaknesses: some attacks are better suited to blocking or parrying, while others call for dodging. Consider three things before reacting: whether the attack can be blocked, how familiar its timing is, and whether your defense will leave Eve close enough to counter.

| Response | When to use it | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Block | When learning a blockable attack or its timing is uncertain | Hold L1 to reduce damage from front-on hits; it does not eliminate ordinary incoming damage. |
| Perfect Block | When you can read the attack’s impact timing | Press L1 just before impact. A successful Perfect Block negates the incoming damage and can unbalance the enemy. |
| Perfect Dodge | When a late dodge suits the attack and you want to preserve counterattack range | Press Circle at the last moment to avoid the blow; Eve may remain close enough to strike. |
| Dodge or Blink | Against a Fatal Attack | Fatal Attacks cannot be blocked. Dodge away, or use Blink to teleport behind the enemy and set up a counter. |
Learn the attack, then tighten your timing
If a boss’s wind-up is unfamiliar, hold L1 to reduce the impact of a blockable front-on attack while you watch its sequence. Once you recognize when the hit will land, try pressing L1 just before impact for a Perfect Block. Successful Perfect Blocks can throw an enemy off balance; successive deflections can build toward a stagger and an opening for Retribution.

Pressing it at the last moment triggers a Perfect Dodge, avoiding the incoming blow and potentially keeping Eve near enough to counter quickly. An ordinary dodge can leave her outside quick attack range, so consider both direction and spacing when moving away from a swing.

There are no numerical parry or dodge windows in the cited PlayStation guide. Learn the cue and timing of each boss’s attacks rather than relying on a universal frame count.
Handle Fatal Attacks with dodge or Blink
Do not try to block a Fatal Attack: PlayStation’s guide identifies these attacks as unblockable. Dodge away, or use Blink by tilting the left stick toward the enemy and pressing Circle just before the attack unleashes. Blink teleports Eve behind the foe, where she can counterattack.
Turn a successful defense into damage
Use the boss’s recovery after a successful defense for a concise combo or a skill suited to the opening. Square performs a light attack and Triangle a heavy attack. PlayStation describes eight primary combos at the outset, split between Incursion and Onslaught sets, with different timings, movement, and defensive properties. Avoid mashing through a combo: its length and movement can affect whether Eve is positioned to respond safely.

Perfect Blocks can unbalance a foe. When successive deflections stagger it, hold Triangle to trigger Retribution. Against an enemy special attack, a Beta Skill may be able to interrupt it; choose one that fits the situation rather than assuming every skill works on every move.
Manage Beta and Burst Skills
Beta Skills
Beta Skills consume a limited Beta gauge built during combat, and their energy costs and uses differ. Hold L1 plus the face button for an unlocked skill. PlayStation’s examples include unblockable thrusts and wide slashes. Save a skill for an opening or an interruption when that use is appropriate, and watch the gauge before committing.
Burst Skills
PlayStation’s German-language combat guide says a correctly timed dodge charges Burst energy and that Burst Skills become available when the gauge is full. A dodge can therefore help both avoid a hit and build toward a later skill, but the immediate priority is still to handle the attack safely.

Use a repeatable boss-fight loop
- Watch the sequence. Identify the attack and whether it is blockable, better avoided, or a Fatal Attack. Patterns and weaknesses vary by enemy.
- Defend while learning. For an unfamiliar, blockable front-on hit, use L1 to reduce damage. When the timing becomes familiar, attempt a Perfect Block just before impact.
- Choose the right late response. Use Circle at the last moment for a Perfect Dodge when it fits the move. For a Fatal Attack, dodge away or tilt the left stick toward the enemy and press Circle just before it unleashes to Blink.
- Punish the opening. Use a short combo, Retribution after a stagger, or an appropriate Beta Skill. Do not overcommit if the boss is about to attack again.
- Check your resources and spacing. Track health, Beta and Burst gauges, distance, and consumables. Adjust your combo or build to the encounter rather than forcing one setup.
Practice difficult timings without risking a boss attempt
PlayStation’s German combat guide recommends training mode for practicing unlocked skills. Use it to learn a skill’s timing and execution before relying on it in a fight. The US guide also recommends experimenting with combos and builds, using space to control incoming angles, staying aggressive when it is safe, and remembering consumables.
