In Ver.1.09, Nippon Ichi Software added up to five previous saves per save slot, limited to saves created after the update was installed. The game’s ordinary checkpoint is morning wake; a Midnight checkpoint is conditional on the Shade-mode route and relevant conditions.
What can you restore?

The publisher’s Ver.1.09 announcement, dated September 3, 2026, says: “Added the ability for a single save slot to store up to five previous saves.” The same announcement limits this to saves created after installing the patch. The figure five refers to retained states, not five complete days of progress.

How to load an earlier save
- Open the game’s save-data selection screen.
- Choose the retained earlier state you want to continue from.
- Continue from that state, understanding that progress made after it will be rolled back.
The game guide describes selecting an earlier state from this screen but does not establish the exact ordering of entries, whether newer states remain after loading, or whether loading creates a separate branch. Treat the selected state as the one you are continuing; do not assume you can undo the rollback and recover later progress.

Morning wake
Morning wake is the regular documented checkpoint boundary. The available guide does not document a normal free-form manual save that you can trigger anywhere.

Midnight in Shade mode
A Midnight checkpoint may occur in Shade mode when the relevant route and conditions apply. It is not a universal checkpoint and should not be assumed to happen every night. Because a qualifying Midnight checkpoint can add a saved state between morning checkpoints, the five retained states do not necessarily represent five full days of rewind.
Does Nintendo Switch or Steam Cloud provide a backup?
Nintendo Switch
Nintendo’s US listing and Canada listing display Save Data Cloud for the Switch edition. Those listings do not explain the game’s eligibility requirements, exact download or restore steps, regional or membership conditions, or how conflicting copies are resolved. A store-page cloud label is not enough to promise that a particular earlier or newer save can be restored.

Steam
The Steam Support listing identifies Steam Cloud and provides a publisher support contact for technical issues. It does not explain this game’s restore workflow or guarantee that a cloud copy exists or is newer than the local save.
Cloud synchronization is not the same as a player-controlled, independently verified backup. The available platform listings do not establish a safe workflow for copying this game’s save to a USB drive, removable card, or other external storage. Check current platform documentation and the game’s support guidance before attempting a restore or file copy.

What Clear Data does—and does not do
Clear Data is a post-ending continuation record. According to the game guide, saving Clear Data lets the village continue after the ending. If you decline, the game returns you to that morning so you can repeat the finale or choose the other documented path. The guide does not establish how Clear Data interacts with previous-save history or guarantee that both endings can be recovered; do not treat it as an extra history slot.

How to reduce the risk of losing progress
- Install Ver.1.09 before relying on previous-save history; saves created before installation do not qualify for the feature.
- When choosing an older state, assume subsequent progress will be lost unless you have independently verified another recoverable copy.
- Do not count on a daily or nightly checkpoint schedule: morning wake is the normal boundary, while Midnight is conditional.
- For Switch or Steam recovery, consult the current platform and game support instructions rather than inferring a procedure from a cloud-service label.
